How can anyone honestly say this thing doesn't exsist the possibility could go both ways. Yes it needs a lot of food, but it can really eat anything it wants, the world doesn't change overnight, it would have had time to evolve. it may still be out there. Just not as large as they used to be.This thing could probaly just swim with its mouth open and it get a lot of food that way. until there is real proof, you can't say if it went extinct or not.

Actually if you actually pay attention to the news, you would know that we have photograph and videotape evidence that the giant squid exists. In 2007 a japanese scientist went out to try it and succeeded in getting about 4 hour footage of a giant squid that attacked somebait, got caught on the hook, and tore off it's own tentacle.

They all died during the ice age as they have to live really deep beneathe the ocean to escape the cold. Therefore they lost their food source which mainly consists of the whale species. Whales can live in the cold with the help of the fats they store beneathe their skin, thus allowing them to live near the surface as they need to breathe as well. Whales are mammals by the way. (^^,) Hope this explains a big part of your question.

One also thought that the Coelacanth was extinct for millions of years but then found it to be still vivid. It is assumed (and most likely) that the megalodon is extinct, however it is SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH that gives proof of it and it is a scientific approach to think it might still live.
