  • too fast , really too fast.....!!!

  • WHERE HAVE ALL THE KIND PEOPLE GOWN !!!!!

  • @Geenalee1 Makes ya wonder. All too caught up with big houses, big cars, big egos.

  • I cannot find this version anywhere. I have the other, but this is upbeat with extensive guitar instrumental. Anyone know where I can get the download?

  • My favorite song of ALL TIME. A different

version than I am used to.

  • Sure ITILII, no more war, yada yada.

I'm also interested in no more injustice. As long as there is industrial-scale injustice in the world, there will be war. So get to work on justice if you ever want to see an end to war.

  • @PokemonVocaloid32

,"No Justice, No Peace! Know Justice, Know Peace!"

  • this is what I call "to sing with your heart"

  • Lovely song....takes me back in time !

  • Great song!!

  • This is the best upbeat up-tempo version of this song on U.T.

  • I think I still have this on A 45rpm record. Billboards Top40 has The Kingston Trio as the "Originators" of the folk music craze of the 1960s.Use to sing this at summer camp.My God,I'm 63 now and I still love music.

  • I am much more used to the live version from "College Concert." It was recorded much slower & left a little more time for expression in my opinion. I will never forget the PBS reunion special with Mary Travers, Tom Smothers, Lindsey Buckingham & Trio members Bob Shane, Nick Reynolds, Dave Guard, John Stewart, George Grove & Roger Gambill all on stage at the same time. Peace.

  • war and peace exist along side each other there is no peace without out war or war without peace for what defines peace with out war and what defines war without peace

  • in order to get peace..sometimes you have to go to war...

  • but the irony of war is to defend those whom are unable to...to intervene, leave your love ones to help those who really need help the helpless...

  • THESE ARENT THE LYRICS!!!!

  • @hyperqueenhzm what do you mean?

  • @1953norb theres no words on the video

  • @1953norb theres no words on the video

  • This song really makes you think.

    It sends a powerful message.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • It's human nature for humans to kill each other relentlessly. That's why this song will always be in vogue.

  • Golly gee Beav....what a swell tune!Guh huh........

  • Am I the only one who thinks its funny that such a classic folk song has been uploaded under an account called "GangstaParadise107"?

    ^_^

  • @LowLevelHellProject haha yeah that was the first thing i noticed!

  • @LowLevelHellProject lets you know anyone can appreciate a song:) but its pretty ironic lol

  • @LowLevelHellProject I didn't even look at the posters name until you said that, and I found it so funny that I just burst out laughing reading your comment!!

  • Very sad... :(

  • umm do you know peter, paul, and mary one? Send me an e-mail

  • Pete Seeger- When will they ever learn??

  • One of my ALL TIME favorites....takes me back to a much more innocent time!

  • ;_; such a beautiful song

  • I love this great classic.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • The guitar is great. Thanks for the upload.

  • we played this all the time when in the navy kinda thining of how it would be so great if the world would heed

    Jack Melling

  • @MrJackmelling

    cheers shipmate.

  • Such a beautiful classic.

    When will we ever learn??????????????

  • damn. I was born in the wrong era of music. This is awesome.

  • acoustics, are excellent

  • I was 10 y.o. in 1966 when my dad came home from his second tour in Vietnam. He came home with this very nice stereo system with those big Sony reel to reel tape recorders and this was all we listened to, along with Peter Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, etc etc. All the war protest stuff, but if you ever mentioned Jane Fonda around him, be prepared for a beat down.

  • @MrMansterdawg

my dad was in nam, it took him 15 years before i come around in 82. I've been in with 3 deployments myself. mention jane fonda, and we both get ready for doing a beat down. but I guess I'd rather learn what the Kingston trio is trying to teach.

  • nice song, i wasnt born when it came around but my dad has this song on tape which is when i first heard it, but he cant find it anymore, i really like it too

  • Love this song. Love that folk circles abounded in the late 50s. If I ported back to 1959, I would have one foot in rock and roll and the other in a small folk circle in the Village or somewhere like that.

I am not a hipster or anything. I'd just enjoy it. I know it would be so cool.

  • Peace, peace, peace. What the world needs now and forever is peace.

  • Beautiful harmony singing beautiful words, yet the most beautiful of all would be NO MORE WAR

  • @ITILII so apt a song written for a generation that fought/grew up in the most destructive war in mankinds history :)

  • @ITILII yeah, but for that u would to get rid of humans...we like war too much

  • @crotchboots needless to say you have not been in Combat!!!!

  • @MACV4

    Amen. DaNang, 1968.

  • @EdWatts Still got your back, bro. Semper Fi.

  • @1949man

    Ooh-RAH!

    Likewise and thanks.

  • Are you sure this is the original mix? Seems there was an earlier version. This is has some chorus coming in. But even this, TKT does the BEST version of this song.

  • You're right .This is a more recent version that features a few changes in the arrangement. They repeat the part with the guitars and conclude with the first verse which is repeatedtoo It doesn't have the charm and the wonderful harmonies of the master version from the album Close-Up which remains the best,in my opinion..

  • @3Pitous I was most fortunate to see TKT in person when they visited my college. That whole folk music movement produced so many wonderful groups. And it was a great time for experimenting with different instruments and recording techniques. Analog mono studio taping technologies was greatly advanced at the same time. And then stereo and multi-track.

  • great song, this was a song for Ann boylyn by henry v111 England

  • @crombie100 for greensleeves

  • Allways!

  • none better

  • This song still sends a powerful message.

It is proof that we still have not listened to the words.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • good folk song

  • The lyrics were taken from a Ukranian folk tune called Tovchu Tovchu Mak and Bob Seeger later adapted into a folk song and later the 4th & 5th verses were added and the rest is history. One of my all time favorite versions was when the Trio did it live. I saw them do this live at leats 5 times and its was amazing the 3 guitars together and the harmonies. No matter who was in the group at the time.

  • 1960's - When will we ever learn

2010 - When will we ever learn

When will we ever learn! I cry listening to this song

  • @JustAnnie51 you are soo right.... I recorded my own version of this song and uploaded it on my channel yesterday. Daiandrah

  • I grew up in the 60's listening to the Kingston Trio and loved them. Their music touched the deepest part of your Soul. In 1966 I went to Viet Nam on a Navy Destroyer. "War is Hell"! After 2 gun mount explosions and being at Death's Door you realize how precious Life is. Our ship returned to the States and prepared to go back to Viet Nam in October 1967. We went because we love our country and always will, but those of us who went to war are "scarred" forever by a senseless war.

  • Well, I guess that I have come full circle.I remember listening to this song as a child and now after living through folk music, pop, rock, acid rock, glam, disco, etc.I,m back listening to folk music again. What a great foundation that was for other music that had something to say.I wonder sometimes if anything worth saying hasn,t already been said or if anything worth writing hasn,t already been written.Peace.

  • The best of the Kingston Trio! this version can never be surpassed.

  • i know where the flowers went....Mary from peter Paul and Mary ate em...ya know...cause she was a big ol fatso before she died

  • @schwoogie78 Ur a nasty FUCK!!!!

  • @DAVEJJR tsk tsk...such language!!..is that any way to talk?...all i was saying is that mary was a big ol gal...and she most likely grazed on the flowers..

  • @schwoogie78

You're an asshole. But what's that got to do with this song?

  • @justinsayne not a damn thing...but i was just speculating that ol fatty pig fatty liked to eat...why am i an asshole?

  • @schwoogie78 do I really need to answer that? MORON!

  • @justinsayne now now...no need to go name calling....lets agree to disagree....and agree that she ate the flowers...ok?

  • @justinsayne He's obviously a 4 year old trying to start shit on the internet. Just the things he is typing SCREAM maturity.

  • Love the sound of a 12 string.

  • Sound only.. this was really big when I was just a late teen... (early 20)

  • bring back memories from the old days wish they were still here , I guess I wil hear them in Heaven

  • Wish there were more artists around these days who could sing like these guys. Very few of today's lot would have the talent to pull something like this off. Any dickhead can do hip hop or rap - this stuff takes real talent.

  • This song makes me love the people around me even more because i lost my wife awhile back and i love my labador and i love u tube and god bless all for their great comments. Thanks for this vid gangsta

  • This one goes out to Ruthie.....

  • This song heals me.

  • Whenever I hear this song, I remember an old public service message from TV around 1970 that showed a wilting flower in an empty city lot, with the line sung by an old man, without instrumentals--"Where have all the flowers gone? The air has killed them, every one. When will they ever learn..." That TV spot, not the Kingston Trio's version, was my first hearing of this song. Kind of like for me the "Lemon Pledge" commercial was my first hearing of the song "Lemon Tree."

  • I learned this song in Catholic school many years ago, Still brings the chills.

  • I am taking a History of Rock Music class at my college and we recently covered a bit of the Kingston Trio, and I have come to love this song so much. It is such a beautiful song.

  • if theres one band to cover this song, its weezer.

i really hope theyd cover this song already!!!!

  • i agree!!! weezer would do a perfect job covering this song. they could capture the very essence of it!

  • well I'm born too late but this song "timeless" I know this song from "felicia"I love this song

  • well I'm born too late but this song "timeless" I know this song from "felicia"

  • I jus learned teh song in skool an I hv teh sing it...it a awsum song....

  • When it was recorded?

  • It was written in 1955 by Pete Seeger and perfected by Joe HIckerson who added verses 1, 4 and 5. The Kingston Trio recorded it in 1961, believing it to be a traditional folk song.

  • I'm singing this in my chorus called Rhode Island Childrens Chorus. We are singing at the providence bruins, just in case you want to come!

  • Fantastic song for the youngsters, for its message is timeless.

  • The question posed by this song, and by the song 'The Universal Soldier', and by Mark Twain's story 'The War Prayer' is -

is any so-called 'freedom' worth all the death and destruction it always seems to entail?

  • Yes,the so called 'freedom' certainly is worth the death and destruction it entails.Observe Stalin,Hitler,Amin,Duvalier,Hussein, etc.Thier 'freedom' didn't entail death and destruction, did it?

  • Well, Hitler's ideals originally intended to kill every imperfect person, but I suppose he might have had the idea of a "Perfect" world in his head when he did all this.

  • What memories this song brings back from 40 years ago at Danang Vietnam. Someone had a Sony reel-to-reel stereo tape player and the tape with the album that this song was on and it was constantly playing in his hooch. Seemed so fitting to be listening to this song there...really identified with it. Lt. USN, long retired.

  • @151overproof Are you sure that wasn't a TEAC 7" reel-to-reel? ! (lucky you - the K. TRIO...the medic in my hooch played Led Zeppelin all day --w/his goofy light-organ boxes flashing behind his blankets. He OD'd on heroin finally & was shipped back to the world.

signed, Doc, 71st Evac Hosp, Pleiku.

  • Hi, 4711. No it was a Sony, with the number 200 in its name. I actually asked the guy. I think there was also a mono version out there too. I'd seen the Sony's in the PX's but I also recall the TEAC's. The Sony had great sound quality. I wonder how it would compare today . All the best and welcome home. Lt., USS Sanctuary , 1970- 71

  • @4711StGermain

We were neighbors. I spent a year on Engineer Hill at Pleiku assigned to C Co 815th Engr Bn. Jul 69-Jul 70, then we moved down south just north og the II-II Corps border, Sw of Dalat. I shipped my Sansui gear home before the move. Welcome home!

  • Fantastic!

  • Freedom comes at a very high price...

  • i sleep well at night because there are hardened men who would do unspeakable things to those who would do me harm. papa hemmingway

would that we did not need them ever again

violence begets nothing but more violence

no words ever expressed this so profoundly

  • what is that quote from? it sounds familiar so i googled it but nothing came up.

  • "There cannot be peace without freedom"

    Bobby Sands

  • @TheBagpiperNo1 The Countries where there is fredom, are the ones always involved in war. In this world, fredom and peace are UTOPIA...

  • I'm sharing with you. But as like an old anarchic as I am, I'll never stop to hope in freedom and peace.

"Don't give up till it's over" sing The Dubliners!!

  • Thanks Irelandcallforever! In fact, I already heard Dubliners, almost every songs. There is very good music, in this World, but for me Irish music is the best!!! Bye, and keep the good feelings of the Irish music!!!

  • Love the 12-string guitar!

  • Not bad ! nice Rendition, love the sound.

  • Times don't change...but the music sure does! This music has a beautiful message. Just wish the world would listen up.

  • @yilishihfu Yet they never do. Each generation has its War for young men to go to.

  • @yilishihfu when will they ever learn?

  • Just had a stray thought, and looked this song up, and was surprised that it came up. Boy, this really takes me back to when I was really into folk, folk rock, and rock.

  • this song will last forever, and all that it stands for, i am glad you remembered it,it stands for something even in these times with all the problems in the world,it was meant for the future as well as the sixties,Peace!

  • So were you really into folk too?

  • I was into folk music and I loved peter Paul and Mary too all through the sixties ,and I also liked Bob Dylan,I still like to listen to them.

  • My first favorite folk groups were the Limelighters and the Byrds.

  • would you have the mp3?

    send me a message.

  • Comment removed

  • Are they still playing music together?

How can I have this song in my phone or mp3. Please somebody help me... Thanks in advance!

  • YES!!!!! I am delighted to report that they will be performing at Midland College in Midland, TX. on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. (10-20-2009).

  • From Portugal to TX, it is a long way!!! Sorry!!! I want to give a +6, and I clik in the -1! May be one day, I will come to TX! Are they all, still alive? I never heard a Trio, with such voices co-ordination, harmony and tender feeling. Forever they will be in my heart. Thanks Roguesgrandmother and bye.

  • @Cordeiro757

Sorry -- just this minute saw your post. Okay, I'm a moron (or, am I just too busy?) I DID go to the concert & met them after & chatted with them & got their autographs. They were AMAZING. Really, they can be compared to noone. I would've stayed for the "AFTER PARTY" - but, was with my (now) ex-boyfriend. Sort of wished that I had been a "Bad Girl'. Damn!! Bad Girls have all the effing fun.

  • One of the best song of the world ever.

Nobody can play it, like these fellows.

    Simply fantastic...

  • Whe will you ever learn?

  • Regardless of each ones "own" beliefs, this music and the lyrics was meant to carry on to all people everywhere........ Peace,Rod:)))

  • The stereo quality of this song is great on my computer system. The, 'Kingston Trio' will live forever! The recording mix on this was great in their day! It sounds like a little technology was added in to give the sound a boost! That's good!

  • An obviously well thought-out opinion deserving the consideration of all the hamsters in the room.(Sorry hamsters)

  • Get lost commie

  • This is the best of the best

  • Beautiful guitar music. I miss music like this.

  • Have you ever been here?

  • If anybody thinks US government has not killed its own citizens--as well as thousands, hundreds of thousands in other countries--they need to start reading a bit of history. And listen to the lyrics of this song! Anyways, for everybody's info, I left a long time ago--truly scary place.

  • Most of us are good honest people trying to raise our families the best we can.

It is the extremists that make us all look bad irregardless of which country we happen to live in.

  • @sheltona1 Oh god I hate to be a pendantic douchebag commenting on a year old comment but "irregardless" isn't a word.

  • @sheltona1 I hate to be a pedantic douche commenting on a year old comment but "irregardless" isn't a word. It's "regardless."

  • You could put a few more catagories in so as far as creepy groups. But the most militant evil the world has ever known is right below your feet; clandestine subterranean lab facilities applying synthetic telepathy/neuro-impulse weapons technology absolutely devastates society and individuals.

  • I've been around the world. You are CLUELESS..Smart you are not.. Probably young and full of yourself..Go to China and say a few words against the government, or the middle east, Central America. Take your choice.. Respond when you get out of prison

  • i'm not talking about the scenery dipshit, i'm talking about their unstable governments and constant violence. There have been over 9 million refugees and internally displaced people from conflicts in Africa.Hundreds and thousands of people have been slaughtered from a number of conflicts and civil wars. There has not been any conflict like that in America. I'm not bashing Africa to put it down, but i am saying that America is better.
