do you need to exchange friend codes to play online or what? or can you just pick up some players and play with them like in mario kart????

You can do both, you can swap codes and connect with friends or you can play people across the world.

Hi, thanks for the question. When the game was first released it was quite easy to find an online match but now, a few years after release, not too many people seem to be playing. If your patient you can still find the odd match, it just depends on whether you can be bothered waiting!

Hi, A Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is required to play friends and others around the world. Like Mario Kart, you should be able to play with people in the same room by setting up a private game and making them go to Download Play on the main DS screen. Unfortunately I cannot double-check this at this time, but I think private play is available.

The only thing I hate about this game is the wifi friend battle option. I mean You cant eve see if you friends are trying to conects it just says seatching 4 opponent. In other wifi games yiu can see when people are trying to join. And Its hard to conect with a friend also.
