The questions were answered in Week 30 when you were working on your own vocals.
It created a different question which is... does Neptune have a feature that automatically creates recommended 3 part harmonies? I know of another software that has that feature, but my goal is to do everything in Record/Reason.
It appears that it is possible to lay entire vocals in Record. Is that doable or is it better to lay vocals in Protools?
My question relates to clarification on the harmony.
When creating the track with the Neptune and verifying the voice synth is selected, did the new track create the actual harmony to the original or were you playing the new harmony part on your keyboard?
Also, the track sounded great! What are your thoughts on how to create a 3 part harmony track or have you found that to even be an issue in the industry e.g. is two part harmony the norm? Thx
Yes I just got my free update with Reason Record 1.5. Good thing i'm a register user from propellerhead. Nice info james keep it going with the knowledge with reason. Hope to meet you 1 day.
I have an unusual question for you that has nothing to do with Reason or Record itself, but rather, the .rsn files.
Having been a producer for a number of years yourself, you probably have hundreds of song files on your computer as I do. My question is, what do you do personally to organize them? Often times I'm overwhelmed when I'm looking for a song that I never gave a proper name or just forgot the name of entirely. Any tips would be appreciated it by you or anyone else!
@aaronian I dont know if its a little too late, but, I personally organice my reason files the same way I organice my entire stuff, in Folders.. I organice them by year & month, & I put a kind of tag at the end of the file, with the Genre of the song/track.. so I have a folder exclusivelly for every project, with the recordings etc inside (and the reason file) and everything I export to mp3 128kbps, & load it in a custom playlist in itunes, so I can search easly for a song/track or jingle ;)
that's great James ! Can you show to us how to used neptune as a CV note control for using synth or sampler ? It could be very usefull for me, i want to control some synth with my voice, like the CV drum replacement tutorial you show on other video.
@0tto777 I've grabbed the demo and it looks great, but I'm really struggling with screen space - I'm constantly switching views and scrolling around with 1600x1280 resolution. I'll persevere and maybe it'll begin to feel more comfortable. I love the integration with Reason though..
@Denzilmac Well I've got a 13" mac and I guess it's not ideal but you get used to it pretty fast especially when the mixer is collapsable along with everything else and you just need F5, F6 and F7 to flick between mixer, rack and sequencer so it's not too bad :)
Great video, JB, especially as I will be avoiding the T-Pain-style digital yodelling effect as much as humanly possible! I hope you can find time to do a video sometime on the Neptune's pitch to CV ability to have the voice controlling a synth, as it seems to be wobbling all over the place when I try it!
@astrophonix I will definitely be covering the pitch to CV.. just had to show the basic functionality first before I get into all the wonderful tweaky stuff you can do with Neptune (and there is a lot of it!).
@astrophonix It may not be directly obvious, but you can't use that CV output with regular CV inputs; rather you need to use with the "pitch" input on a Thor oscillator. Create a Thor. Init patch. Route Neptune "Amplitude" to Thor "Gate". Route N. "Pitch" to T. "CV 1". In Thor's modulation matrix, choose source: CV In 1, Amount 100, dest Osc 1 pitch.

Never realised how much of an effect light pitch correction could have. This tutorial is amazing. Thankyou!

hopefully this may persuade some of the Neptune haters that it actually does work when used sparingly and tastefully.
