Where did I say that I've never read the bible? In fact, I have read the bible, but It's a long enough book that I don't remember every word and phrase. Who authorized the King James Version of the bible? If the King James Bible (the version which I happen to have read) is the closest translation, then I am more comfortable than ever with my atheism. Santos, I can claim the Bible is wrong because...it is. There are many inaccuracies/fallacies/mis-translations in the various editions that the enlightened and educated must acknowledge. I know this reality terrifies those who have been indoctrinated into passively accepting the Bible's claims, without question, but I guarantee that opening up their minds to a higher truth will inspire such people to know the LORD and His vision so much better!
Now, what vision of the LORD are you referring to? My Bible clearly shows that God wants every soul to be saved; to repent of sin; and then to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Can't get much higher than that. Check out 2 Peter 3:9; Mark 16:15; and Matthew 28:18-20. It's clear as day.

Cgy, if you are interested in learning about the Bible's shortcomings, do the research either at the library or on the web. The truth is out there. Of course God creates gay people; it may not be in your translation of the Bible, but remember: it was written by unenlightened men of another era; it doesn't negate the LORD's truth. I'll take the LORD's will over man's word, any day, but I don't challenge your right to believe in whatever you prefer, even the fallacy that being gay is a "sin".

First of all, I'm an atheist so I don't think we both put the same emphasis on what is important about Catholicism or Christianity. The bible has been edited so many times, and contradicts itself so many times, that it's hard for me to care about the quotes you've cited which I don't know the context of. I agree that the Orthodox churches follow the bible most closely, but since there are so many different bibles saying so many different things, as an atheist especially, I don't really care.

Well you wanted source material I gave it to you.There is only one authorized Bible, all the others are counterfeit. The Original King James Version is the ONLY bible out there that is translated as close to accurately as one can get. Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort both are responsible for changing the Textus Receptus. Both men were paid to corrupt the bible by translating it according to there beliefs , which are far from Biblical Christian Beliefs one can get.

Where did I say that I've never read the bible? In fact, I have read the bible, but It's a long enough book that I don't remember every word and phrase. Who authorized the King James Version of the bible? If the King James Bible (the version which I happen to have read) is the closest translation, then I am more comfortable than ever with my atheism. I found the bible alarming in its advocacy of barbaric ritual and beliefs.

Reply to previous: On top of this, if you can read english, you know that I was discrediting your quotations, by saying that I have no way of knowing that what is being quoted isn't contradicted before or after, or whether they are literal. Of course I had to finish also by adding that the contents of the bible really aren't important, because the bible was written by bronze age shepherds and not a God.

Well if you did your research instead of just shoot off your mouth you would see that 1 the bible does say what I quoted 2the Catholics do believe what I posted. And since the Bible corresponds with the Dead Sea scrolls written 1000s of years ago I can assume you were NOT there and thus cannot say that it was written by Shepherds and not a God. And Since all the information needed is right in front of u ,called the Internet ,one would think you would do some research and find the truth.

I can't say for sure that it was written by shepherds (why did you capitalize shepherds?), but I can say that it's much more likely that the bible was written by whales than God. I have done more research than you have on the subject of God, which is why I'm an atheist and you're still believing in a big brother. You're the one making unsupported claims that God exists, so why am I the one pretending to know everything?

I have studied religion for over 20 years. I have also studied Paganism, and If one took the time to do a Pagan Symbolism study they would see that the Catholic church is full of them...Pagan Symbols.I can go on and on and on and on and on.

Oprah's ideas actually make a lot of rational, moral sense, whereas much of what is in the Bible is nonsense; easily misinterpreted and twisted, by those with a specific agenda of "hate anyone who doesn't acquiesce to my personal belief system". Santos, I can claim the Bible is wrong because...it is. There are many inaccuracies/fallacies/mis-translations in the various editions that the enlightened and educated must acknowledge. I know this reality terrifies those who have been indoctrinated into passively accepting the Bible's claims, without question, but I guarantee that opening up their minds to a higher truth will inspire such people to know the LORD and His vision so much better!

Now, what vision of the LORD are you referring to? My Bible clearly shows that God wants every soul to be saved; to repent of sin; and then to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Can't get much higher than that. Check out 2 Peter 3:9; Mark 16:15; and Matthew 28:18-20. It's clear as day.
(Off-topic question...if God created gays, how come it's not in His Word? Sounds like a man-made excuse for sin...)

Cgy, if you are interested in learning about the Bible's shortcomings, do the research either at the library or on the web. The truth is out there. Of course God creates gay people; it may not be in your translation of the Bible, but remember: it was written by unenlightened men of another era; it doesn't negate the LORD's truth. I'll take the LORD's will over man's word, any day, but I don't challenge your right to believe in whatever you prefer, even the fallacy that being gay is a "sin".
