  • @HeavyMetal80sRules Until you design a better circuit you should learn to stop complaining.

  • @HeavyMetal80sRules Then make an improved schematic and post it somewhere

  • @HeavyMetal80sRules No deal. If you're really so good at this then you figure it out it's not difficult

  • That sounds amazing!

  • @retrostansolo It is!

  • HO FUK. I always hated how we could never properly emulate the Yamaha synth chip properly from the original Genesis for sound output, as I wanted crystal clear sound from the Genesis. And recording always had that 24khz crap... I want this so I can record the beautiful genesis music like I wanted to!

  • @Kojichao I can build this for you but it won't be cheap. Also this will only work on a va0, va1, or va1.8 genesis / megadrive 2

  • @TheDrakon Yeah, I was looking at the diagrams and read the forum post you had that talked about the required parts and which version this would work on. I'll message you, as I'm curious about pricing. Just gotta save up a bit (*Measly contract programmer pay*)

  • I remember the Sega for what it was. Not for how GOOD it was. It played games, I enjoyed using it as a child. It was to me, the best console ever. To someone else, they think the SNES is better. I don't care what everyone else thinks, I enjoyed the Sega Megadrive, it was the best console, and I still have one. 21 years later and I can honestly say I still enjoy it.

  • what a night and day difference! i would love to do also that mod but i can´t understand the diagram and i can´t find a list of all the parts needed =/

  • @segajcharrua I'll make a list of the parts right now and I'll post them on my forum. I'll add my forum link to the video description

  • I think they sound the same...but then again It's being played on my great sound system

  • Sonic 2, dessert level

  • @HGbrokensword That's right after the Sonic 2 dinner level.

  • @TheDrakon grammar shill....

  • Eh, I think the unmodified sound is better, richer, true to my ears.

  • @nyetloki Well you're extremely stupid!

  • @TheDrakon And you're extremely rude. Kudos for your amazing work but let that guy have his own opinion.

  • @bigbezet I'm entitled to my opinion too.

  • @TheDrakon Offending someone is not expressing your opinions, it's being a douche.

  • @bigbezet Agreed. Someone has their nose a little too far up their own ass, in more ways than one. I love how he bashes the original sound chip. It was back in the mid 90s. What do you expect? On top of that, the Genesis 2 didnt have the best audio output. Not saying the original was great, but there is a difference.

  • @nyetloki What a fool! Do you not hear the originally-non-existent audio channels in the revised circuit? Not to mention the outstanding Bass. Go ahead and use the word "true" if you wish because Sega "truly" screwed up. The richer audio is the modified audio.

  • @Jazzmarazzable

I've replaced the Mona Lisa's finish with far superior modern paints. Look at all these originally non existent bright colors! Not to mention the outstanding eggshell finish. Go ahead and use the word "true" if you wish because Leonardo "truly" screwed up. The richer painting is the modified one.

  • @DTownzz That's a pretty moot point to compare the Mona Lisa to the inherently bad audio quality of the Genesis model 2, when the ACTUAL, ORIGINAL MODEL, and I mean the first one, mind you, had SOME OF THE BEST sound quality. The richer one in this comparison is the modified one, and if you want a real "organic" comparison, then you better do it to the real originals.

  • @outlander145

Wrong. When folks play these crappy machines, it's for pure retro enjoyment, and thus the authentic version is superior.

What's real to you is not what gamers enjoyed when they were kids.

That's the point. A great painting is not about the best paints.

  • @outlander145 plus this just sounds worse.

It sounds really lame. No distortion or any grit. Just kinda like a pan flute. They probably replaced this with the richer one because it sounds better. Going back to version 1.0 is technically impressive, but who would want to game that way? I'm guessing no one.

  • @DTownzz And that's not to say I don't have that "pure" version, which I did enjoy as a kid. But I also have the model 3 as well, which not only also has a cleaner audio like the model 1 had, but also a very clean image. And the irony there is that Majesco, and not Sega, produced it. The fact that things got more distorted in the model 2 due to motherboard arrangement is probably a step backward, if nothing else.

  • @nyetloki I agree. The new chip sounds weird and just wrong. It's impressive to make this modification, at least academically, but I like the real genesis over the goober version.

  • sounds clearer but did you know the genesis 2 had a much worse sound chip than the original one? /wiki/Yamaha_YM2612

  • @darkoampem yes I knew that that's what this modification fixes

  • @darkoampem It's not the sound chip. In fact, the sound chip in the Model 2 is actually a lot better, but it's the internal mixer that is terrible and made it sound bad.

  • My childhood feels cheated.

  • I agree with Kalin. :D Amazing work dude

  • @Kaya4114 Thanks. But don't just thank me also thank Tiido!

  • Wow this sounds amazing, literally.

  • @kalinarmstrong Yes it does! Literally.

  • @kalinarmstrong I was going to say the exact same thing.
