Review of the Acer Aspire 6920G Gemstone Blue

I've ordered it on friday. Gonna be here very soon. What kind of a video card does your 6520G has? All the other specs you've mentioned are the same as mine.

I got Acer aspire gemstone blue 6935, its a good computer but only one prob for me, i reinstalled my computer and now my acer crystal eye drivers,softwares are gone... the camera works but i go no dirvers or softwares for it, any idea on how to get it back ?

I would suggest contacting Acer & asking them if they provide a the software download for it.

that is not true i always update the arcade and i watch blueray, normally u would change the region code on the disk or the blueray disk would have info u can download off the disk to watch all latest movies on blueray

I made this video 13 months ago. It wouldn't be completely surprising to see that Acer finally fixed this issue with Acer Arcade Deluxe.

M8 if you have a 32 bit it will only recognise 3gb ram but if you have 64 bit then its cool

I don't know troubleshooting steps on your problem. I would recommend contacting your local Acer Tech Support there in the UK.

Yeh Acer Arcade Deluxe absolute junk and can be removed completely. PowerDVD 8 plays Blu-ray discs just fine, is far better, and it's very quick at getting Blu-ray movies playing.

BTW my only criticism about the 6920g, is the shear amount of crapware it comes with. The only way I could get my 6920g the way I wanted was to install a clean OEM copy of Vista, and then installed just the stuff I wanted.

I find the Cinedash is more of a novelty, only thing I use is the volume control.

I agree that Acer Arcade Deluxe could be removed completely but it was the only software I had that played Blu-Ray at the time of this video.

I didn't have the money for PowerDVD, but yes it does play on PowerDVD well.

The Cinedash isn't a novelty for me, I use everything on it, considering I am a major music/movie junkie. Even though it sometimes lags a bit when I try to make it play, pause ect.... it still works & its mostly a very short lag, like 1 second.

I timed mine during web browsing with power saver settings enabled. I got 3 hours 27 minutes. I personally consider than good for such a large laptop.

No, all computers with the Cine Dash Media controls on the left is a Gemstone Blue. If you have one that looks like the one in the video, IT IS a Gemstone Blue.

With the upgrades that the retailer provided on this computer, because it wasn't sold to me as a stock 6920, upgraded processor from 2.0GHz Intel C2D to a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, from 2GB RAM to 4GB RAM, all together it cost me $2,033.82 after TAX. But if the computer was STOCK then the computer would have been between $1,100 - $1,400 because of Blu-Ray & warranty costs. WITHOUT Blu-Ray, warranty & with stock specs the computer cost just over $800. This computer is practically a 6935 not 6920.

Because those applications don't support Blu-Ray format. TRUST me, if they did I would have used them. If you listened too what I said in the video 1:07 you would have heard me say "It's the only application (Acer Arcade Deluxe) provided for this computer that actually plays Blu-Ray"

I Have the same Computer and i do absolutely agree, its awesome, but i managed to play blu-ray on WMP. I dont know how though, I just downloaded the 5th element in full HD and I played it in WMP and it worked awesome! To bad my computer is at the hospital becuase my screen got f...ed up. But its on its way! =) BTW nice Review! =)

when you say upgrade you dont mean updating do you? also how do you make the acer crystal eye cam record without using youtube or what not?

Yes, I meant update. And I just checked the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam and I couldn't find any other software feature than to take pictures. I only use the cam for instant messenger purposes so I don't need the video capture feature. But for you, I would recommend finding webcam video capture software and set-up the Acer Webcam and the built in mic as the video/sound source. Good luck and enjoy your computer!!!

i totally agree this 1 awesome laptop. on the point of the acer arcade deluxe program, i was prompted to upgrade and without thinking i did. my anti virus stopped this process due to the source of the upgrade trying to plant a trojan. just a warning for anybody purchasing this laptop. great video and this is worth every £1200 i have spent!

EXACTLY, My anti-virus wasn't set-up when I first updated my Acer Arcade Deluxe. Shortly after I updated I got a ERROR msg stating "A Buffer Over run has been detected" and it said it was Acer Arcade Deluxe that was having the issue. I talked too some of my geek friends and they said that the error can keep my computer vulnerable to viruses. It is simple people, DO NOT UPDATE ACER ARCADE DELUXE or you won't be able to play Blu-Ray & you will possibly get a virus. Other than that the PC is GREAT!

Seems like your getting a nice deal. Your specs are pretty much the same as mine, all but the processor, mine is a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. Its cheap compared to HIGHER END computers with practicly the same specs. And for Power DVD, yes I would get the Blu-Ray version even though I haven't. If you AVOID the upgrade for Acer Arcade Deluxe, the computer will play your Blu-Ray movies. Just Click NO when the application promts you to upgrade. Thats only if you don't want to invest into Power DVD/Blu-Ray.

It plays advanced games well, but you sacrifice performence by getting a LAPTOP. Its still a nice computer and I love it. Hope you enjoy it & Merry Christmas!!!

Yours can't have a Blu-Ray player for that cheap dude...Blu-Ray alone cost $199.99 on a computer. That means you got existing specs for $400? What is the full specs of your Gemstone Blue? If you got a good deal more the power too ya, but without a 3 year warrany, extra software, and the 1 upgrade I made for the RAM from 3GB to 4GB I would have payed $1,300 for the PC. I just don't see how you can get near the same specs as I did for $600.

im not sure about any of the specs cuz they took it off the site but u can look it up, its the aspire 6920-6508. I dont think it has a blu-ray player but i dont ever watch blu-ray, so its not a big issue for me
