Hey I was hoping you all could help me! I've been looking for a song of his, I remember listening to it with my grandmother when I was little. and I cant find it anywhere. It talks about him and a woman arguing. and then says something like memphis might as well be on the moon. she's just as out of reach right across the room. I would love it if someone could post the song or message me the name so i can find it! TY!!
@scrambler250r Hate to interfere here...but when Bill was walking back to his apartment, with the dress and pizza..and his car gets repoed....this is the song he was singing.
@scrambler250r After he left his abandoned his cab, hes walking home with the pizza/dry cleaning singing "theres only one thing I need/And thats a big ole brew/little old you.."
Its right before they repo his car to give you a better reference.
@Leffty99 How did you know Bill was actually singing a real song in that scene? And didn't STRIPES come out before this album? he must have heard it at a live show before the album release.
very sorry to hear he passed, even sorrier i confused him with an oakridge boy, sad for all close to him, i remember this as a younger woman plz forgive my ignorance
Take a trip to Nashville, TN...Go over towards the Opry and drive up Music Valley Drive to a little place called John A's...You'll see Mel there almost everyday of the week, and he's a good guy. Tell the staff that Ron sent ya..they'll know who you are talking about...also, tell the manager Thomas and Chef Roger I said hi
When the drinkin' age was still 18 in IL, this was my favorite song. I was19 when it peaked. Hit #4 in Billboard, 9-25-82. God bless! Got no desire for beer now, Praise God!
Thanks for posting. I find he's a great singer that has gone somewhat unnoticed. My favorite song of his (and I can't seem to find) is " C'mon sixty five"
This may be my favorite Mel song. I love everything about it. His voice sounds huge and you gotta love a phase 90 telecaster. It don't get better than that.

Always thought this song was classic. Gotta love that redneck intro with the harmonica. Check out "Trailer Trash" by Gene Watson too.

Thanks for this one! I've been waiting this one out.
If someone could put up "One in a Million" by Johnny Lee, that would be outstanding.

Actually recently I tried putting up "One In A Million" myself.. it was BLOCKED!
