I'm surprised he wore the mask. Not sure why he would perform the match as "Woman's Choice" instead of as the Texas Tornado. But it was a packed house already.

For a moment while watching this, I thought that the opponent was going to pull off Kerry's boot to show the prosthetic foot--I don't remember which one he'd lost. I remember hearing about him losing his foot and STILL wrestling before he passed on. I gave him a lot of credit. Kerry von Erich really was a talented wrestler with a colorful personality...it's sad that his life ended too soon by his own hand.

when people talk about kerry they forget all the heartbreak he had to endure to get to this point in his life put yourself in his shoes i personally can understand his mindstate thank god i have never had to endure that much in that short of a time frame his heartache and loss was ovewhelming and had to be a very heavy weight to carry

Kerry had a lot of problems back then, he was very despondent, I'm sure the jacket was the last thing on his mind. He had drugs problems, money problems, problem with his ex wife, problems with the law...So who cares about the fucking Jacket !!?? It was a stupid angle anyway.

Thats exactly what happened this night. A handful of people in the locker room seen what he was doing and just didn't tell Kerry to take the jacket off. The reasoning was the handful of people were "Star Struck" or afraid to say anything to him because of Fritz was his father.

Supposedly, Kerry put the jacket on moments before he stepped out of the locker room. He was so messed up he didn't know what he was doing. From other shoot interviews this was common of the Von Erich boys. They were all high all the time. Wrestlers all knew the boys had problems but either turned their cheek or were to afraid to say anything about the boys.

That is what is so sad about the Von Erichs. They weren't bad guys, they were just wild like all the wrestlers back then. The difference is this didn't have anyone to hold them accountable. Fritz didn't seen to care about anything other than making money off of them and everyone else was afraid of losing their spots. I just can't understand Fritz. Regardless of what Kev says, it is obvious he was a horrible father. Even Vince McMahon tried to protect his own freaking kids.

I was reading thriugh the comments and alot of people are asking or speculating about the jacket. I remember watching a shoot interview but can't recall who it was. Might have been Cowboy Bill Watts. Who ever it was brought this match up. They said, Kerry was so far gone he wore a jacket with his name on it wearing a mask and everyone in the crowd knew it was Kerry chanting Kerry's name. They said Kerry messed up the whole angle.

Wow Kerry's last match sad hate to see my hero like this! I want to say fuck u vince McMahon and erich bischoff for destroying pro wrestlong burn in hell! Thank you jerry jarrett and jeff for makeing tna which in my book is the second coming of world class wrestling!! And to correct everyone kevin tried to talk kerry out of it and thought he did like he said on my shoot dvd of his!! He loved his brothers!!

seeing this match and knowing how close to death Kerry was really bums me out. I wonder if this card was part of the attempt by Jim Crockett and others to jump start the NWA I know that happened around this time period (93-94) and ended when Douglas threw down the belt. Anyone know?

According to Fritz and Kevin von E., Kerry was sad over the loss of his brothers, foot, marraige, in the throes of an addiction to cocaine, and about to go to jail for it. I am not judging Kevin AT ALL- he knew Kerry, and he prob. thought "tough love" was the right way 2 go- after all, these were guys with an "Iron Claw" for a father..

BTW, I can't get over how bored and mortified Kerry looked to BE there- I wasn't sure it WAS him 'til the hood came off. I HATED seeing this-he looks so sad.

This is so sad- Womanis gone, Kerry is gone. In Fritz' book, he said that they would shoot Kerry's "stump" full of Novocaine, so his prosthetic foot wouldn't hurt during the match. The foot actually CAME OFF during one of his last bouts, which mortified poor Kerry. . BTW, Kerry called Kevin at 2:00am, the day he took his life, to tell him he was going to do it, and according to Fritz himself, Kevin said, "Stop whining- if you're going to do it, just DO IT- stop bothering everyone"- and he did.

To clarify: When Mike, then Chris Von Erich killed themselves, the family asked a grief counselor how they could've prevented it... they were told when anyone even mentions "suicide", stop- go see them, and report it, b/c they r reaching out 2 u, 2 see if u care- by telling his brother to "Go ahead", it reaffirmed Kerry's belief that no one cared. Yes, Kerry was responsible, but he called on his brother for help.

I was waiting to see The Freebirds boot upside Kerry's head, but I guess it wasn't meant to be this night. I'll always remember the promo they had back in the day for the "Modern Day Warrior". Kerry looked so cheezy riding that pony. Oh No!

the tragedy is all professional wrestling and what it is and what it has become. So many tragedies in pro wrestling. Promoters like Vince Mcmahon have ruined the sport.

it is time for a sports commissioner to oversee pro wrestling again. The state Athletic commission needs to drug test all wrestlers b4 their matches.

Kerry Von Erich was a kid who was not to smart, very athletic with a great mom and an evil father.

After seeing the DVD "The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling", Kevin said that Kerry didn't want to hurt the fans. Wrestling fans are very forgiving, they may have been disappointed with him, but they would eventually have forgiven him. It's sad that he didn't get the help that he so desperately needed. I agree with you KHayes666, I would much rather see him at the Sportatorium. RIP "Modern Day Warrior".

I'm actually glad this is his final match.....I hate to see Kerry like this, wrestling under a hood in front of 50 people..

Rather have him in the Sportatorium chasing Sunshine around the ring
