  • i bought my son a die cast metal voltron online and the legs were plastic with chrome. i dont remember that good, but i thought the legs were also die cast. is that true?

  • not to seem weird, but it has been 4 years and i still find snry77's comment so funny. great review btw.

snry77 comment is on page 7 at the current time

  • WHY CAN VOLTRON, A 1980's GESTALT MADE UP OF LIONS HAVE MORE ARTICULATION THAN THE FUCKING MEGAZORDS, BANDAI TAKE NOTES

  • Thanks for the vid. I cringed though when you shot the heads on the floor.lol As a kid I wanted this toy more than any other I think. Optimus 1st gen was a close second.

  • where is the sword?

  • when you zoomed in and i saw the detail, boy did that bring me back. i actually missed my old voltron

  • that is kinda of a ripe off because selling the sward and throwing star is like selling the star wars trans formers Darth Vader death star's gun, mini pilot figures, mini tie fighters, light saber, cape, and body separate.

  • voltron is the coolest anime :)

  • Oh look its Golion

  • You should show how you transform Voltron instead of fastforwarding through the most interesting part.

  • i love this version but i can't pay the amount people want for him off ebay i got the panosh voltron with pilots for 30 bucks off a board but man 300 for him is way to much but one day i will get him by then i play with my 25th anniversary masterpiece voltron

  • i had a green lion that was a little different. ive never seen it on the internet or anything. it was a lighter shade of green, and the "3" was much smaller. anyone ever see that one?

  • One of the greatest toy's.....EVER!

  • i don't collect toys but i must have this

  • wow u really love these figures!!!Look how many u have i couldnt even afford so many !!!

  • I have the plastic version all parts and am interested in selling but not sure what would go for jimiking1

  • where can i get that? last time i saw one i was like 5 years old

  • Was that optimus prime talking at the begining? XD

  • @amartinez97

its been 3 months, so you probably larday know, but yes. peter cullen did the voice for the intro to voltron

  • i love i still have them

  • Nice set I wish I had even just 1 growing up. So superior to todays made in China B.S. all plastic crap.

  • it has been a year and i still find snry77's comment funny. god damn

  • i am almost 30 yrs old, and i still kinda wish i had one of those. i mean i am searching youtube for voltron videos, at 28 fuckin yrs old, this is sad. whatever i always wanted one of those, i think i might have had a lion or so but never more than that.

  • lol

  • Ah, so there are a few differences between this and the masterpeice version, nice to know.

  • what series is it?

  • "Die cast constuction, it's a lost art."

  • Hey man been watching your reviews for a long time keep em coming, voltron will always be one of my favorites, btw did you ever get into the bandai godaikin line, i would like to see you do a review of tetsujin 28 sg-01 that would be awesome.

  • Wow it looks like a lot more work to put 2gether than megazords did

  • i had thes guys mint in box too bad i sold them

  • this reminds me a lot about power rangers mega zords...

  • holy crap u got alot of transformers in the background!!!!

  • is that metal btw dude i love these toy i got it in the old days a fake one lol

  • I used to have those. Greatest toy ever! Unfortunately, much like He-Man and G.I. Joe, these toys were destroyed through play in my youth.

  • ahhmmm i do remember that there was a deluxe diecast metal version of voltron....hmmmm

  • LMFAO, it's optimus in the voltron intro video!

  • This guy does not get laid.

  • And you get laid alot ahh? Whats you doing watching this video if you talk bad about it? All those figure that dude has he could lay any hoe he wants jackass those figures are worth alot of money... Keep showing us video compose don't mind haters like that...

  • Uh, you're wrong there, pal. Sure, you could walk up to a person on the street and say you're going to shoot them, but you will be arrested. In the United States, that's called assault and the cops will book you. If you held a baseball bat, or any other object that could be used as a weapon, in a threatening manner toward someone, then that too is considered assault. If you actually make contact with the person, then that's considered battery, and you'll be arrested for that too.Have a nice day!

  • i can tell by your words you are not an adult and if you were you would not have a " fine ass wife" because you are a terrible person but oyur not an adult cause no adult wold say they can threaten to shoot someone and nothing would happen only a asshole kid would say that!

  • Quiet you!

  • can u even see the engagement ring on his fucking finger

  • hes married soo...

  • saweet! I want them now!! lol

  • Toynami masterpiece is way better, to me it looks better, plus it comes with the Blazing sword and the star shield. only reason id buy this matchbox peice is to have one to play with, cause i will not be opening my toynami masterpiece when i get it, i have 2 others atm, OPtimus prime and megatron (un-modified) and they are both in the box, sealed mint condition, and soon Voltron will be joining them. And the book box display nice touch, can see it without opening it.

  • No Blazing Sword!?! Damn you MatchBox!

  • Do people hate the black lion because he's black? (hence INfamous)

  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DCompose Voltron Toy Review AND MASTERPIECE VOLTRON? I WAS WATCHING BOTH, AND I CANN'T SEE THE DIFFERENCE, CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME THAT? COZ I REALLY WANT TO BUY VOLTRON BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT OF THOSE BUY, THANKS!

  • what were the ones from like the late 90's that were all smooth? i only had like one of those

  • You are talking about the Trendmasters version of the Voltron force. It is said that the Trendmasters version is the same toy as this one. Only difference is that there are weapons for all the lions.

  • i think ive still got the blue one laying around somewhere

  • I still have the vehicle one mint in box

  • You need to stop using the word "infamous." (I don't think you know what the word means.)

  • voltrons are cool!

  • Are they still selling these replicas? Time to relive some missed opportunities of youth if so.

  • snry77, u suck. We were poor as hell and my parents still manage to get us the real thing. This video is a replica just like your christmas present.

  • wow awesome vid man. I love Voltron. I remember i begged my parents for one 4 a long time then finally one Xmas my parents hinted at me that they got me one. The box under the tree was big enough... and when i opened it.... IT WAS THE FUCKING PLASTIC CHEAP ASSED VERSION THEY RELEASED THAT YEAR THAT WAS LIKE $30 TO $40 CHEAPER THAN THE ORIGINAL DIE CAST ONES!! I had a retarded Voltron. Fuck my parents. Fuck those faggots in the face with my cock 4 that shit. Oh well ...time 4 me 2 masturbate now!

  • ... i laughed... to no end after reading your comment...

  • its still funny. lol

  • Fuck those faggots in the face with my cock 4 that shit. Oh well ...time 4 me 2 masturbate now! is the funniest sentence i have ever read. a month later.. it is still hilarious. hhshs

  • still funny as hell.

  • hahahahaha snry77 has nothing but porn on his profile hyahahahahah

  • i have that one first robot toy i got .i was around 14 i guess, im now 39.wow hes getting old lol

  • it would be awesome if the lions would have a button, where if you press it, it'll roar

  • Since in the beginning of the video it is Peter Cullen it would have been funny if after he said "A mighty robot" he said "but not as a mighty robot as me, Optimus Prime"

  • your lucky i love voltron i have been looking for one for years and years my friend had one at a garuge sale but i was too late some body else bot it if u every see on that is lower than $100 bucks please let me know.

  • y cant packaging be like that now-a-days!!??

  • DCompose, the very best toy reviewer on youtube IMHO. :D I love Voltron. I actually own 8 complete lion sets and 1 complete vehicle force set and another which is only missing its hands/vehicles. Beautiful relics from an era when toy quality was at its height of popularity.

  • is that peter cullen in the begining?

  • yes it is.

  • please accept my friend request

  • I hope he does the narration for the live-action movie.

  • I got out my old original diecast Voltron to show my nieces.

  • You mean the ones that have cockpits for the figrues?

  • No, the original metal ones. I used to have the cockpit ones, but they've gone bye-bye.

  • I love shiny toys. My faves right now are G1 Perceptor and the Gold Reissue Jazz.. god they are pretty!

  • WTH??! Remake of those lions?!?!? Ive been trying to find them but got no results so far!!! Darn it!!

Voltron was my 1st robot show since i can remember, followed by Transformers...back then these lions are costly...and i envy those rich kids who can afford it...

I have not heard of these lions for almost 20 years already...i even thought they were never gonna remake them again...

  • they didn`t included the sword..What a shame

  • I was born in 80 so I grew up w/ voltron. All I had was the crappy plastic ones minus one of the legs(double crappy). I had a friend that had all the metal ones and I use to go to his house after school just to play with his.

  • how stupid, red and green lions are smaller. bah!

  • you say its stupid look at yer name jeez what kind of name is ufopsi

  • the host is funny

  • did u ever make a review on the plastic lions?

  • Voltron has always been my favorite bot :)

  • I have him

  • the voice is primes

  • Another note, the voltron lionbot originally came with all the lions together, which included accessories and the blazing sword. Though they did package the blazing sword in a separate package along with other accessories.

  • I disagree. Voltron: Defender of the Universe is actually superior, strangely enough I feel, to the King of 100 Beasts: Go-Lion original which was a prety boring and needlessly violent senti. Strangely enough I'm also gonna get the Go-Lion DVDs later this year cause I'm a Voltron fanatic and I already have the all the Voltron DVD tin sets. The Dieruggar (Vehicale Voltron, or Voltron 1) is also coming soon ...

  • Im actually in partial agreement with FullmetalNinja. Voltron: Defender of the Universe was indeed a badly transaltion of the original. Theres no arguing that. The original show was called GoLion. Matchbox bought the rights to release it in the americas as Voltron and did indeed butcher and changed the original concept to fit american audiences. Voltron has so many plot holes because of this. In there end however, "its all to each their own."

  • Good one. Although that was just the toys. The people who bought the rights to make it an Anglo Phonic English speaking dub were the St. Louis based television company World Events.

I'm gonna get the Fleet of Doom TV movie this month from Amazon and the Go-Lion sets, but Voltron I've always loved more. Better music and voice acting ...

  • omg...i just read my comment and its like someone else posted it. Forgive me. Yes, World Events released the shows. God, why did I say Matchbox? 0_o I should sleep. And ugh..dont you hate it when you make ridiculous typos?

  • Ha, it's cool Narcomics, really. :D We all make ridiculous and silly type-os on accasion ...

    :D

  • do the legs hve knee joints in voltron mode?

  • If your asking if it has any knee articulation while in full robot mode, the answer is no. Like most robot toys and figures in general from the early 80s, toys had less articulation features.

  • Which one do you recommend - this one, or the Masterpiece?

Incidentally, is the place you work for hiring? I'm good at translations... ^-^

  • First buy the original and make sure its atleast made in Japan. Then from there, you can decided whether or not you want the more fragile Toynami version of what they dubbed, a masterpiece *coughBScough* :p

  • Where's the sword?

  • The die cast sets didn't come with the sword, it was sold seperately with the throwing star.

  • @DCompose I thought that was his shield.

  • you have vehical voltron???

  • i would probably give up my ultimate bumblebee just for this

  • Well don't, get one from ebay, it is still available...if u want...It's 109$ shipping not included.

  • kool

  • I don't know much about Voltron, and as far as I know, it never came to the UK.

But I can say this - the heads of those lions are really blocky and horrible.

It's interesting that there's some differences betweem the two that form legs and the two that form arms, though.

  • Those toys were ahead of their time back in 1981. And they were actually released in the UK. I own a box from the UK sale :)

I think this is a beautiful toy even by today standards. =]

  • If anyone is looking to buy an original Voltron, make sure you look for these things. 1. Made in Japan metallic stickers on their belly. If you have the one made in Taiwan, you will notice some difference from the Japanese version. Yellow Lion is missing his ear disks in the Taiwan version and is instead, replaced by stickers.

  • is this the older version because the more recent serise was in 3D animation

  • Yeah this is the older version released...in 1984.Trendmasters reissued this in 1997 when the 3d show was airing...Althought it was a reissue, there were some variantions...the most notabe is adding fins to the green and red lions.

  • Add to that, the pale colors used and black face inside the Black Lion's mouth instead of the semi metallic of Japan's Go'Lion.

  • But u know what bro...With all the versions that we have todate, non of them captured the correct color scheme of the face...if u freeze the picture on voltron's head...It's black, navy, and white...non of the toy companies done it right!!!

  • True true, but another fun fact which is similar to those of Transformers, the cartoons actually came after the toys were produced. Infact, the shows were produced to help sell the toys. :) So in this case, the cartoons never had it right! hehehe. ;)

  • Am I correct in asuming that this is the voltron that is made of metal or is it shiny plastic because the one i had as a child each lion was made completly of metla and the whole thing weighed about 4 or 5 pounds which is rather heavy for a toy.

  • Voltron is a huge milestone in toy history all around the world. I have 4 complete sets of these. Different variants each. The only one im ignoring, is the overpriced, delicate and funky looking so called Masterpiece set that was manufactured in china by... Toynami wasnt it? Anywho, Long live the relic that is now known as Voltron. A great toy.

  • this isnt the voltron masterpiece is it

  • No. The voltron masterpiece sucks. IMHO.

  • Okae..I know Im being harsh. The truth is, my Masterpiece broke from the waist upon posing the toy after only a day from purchase. I paid mega dollars for it. Found out it was never made in Japan like the original was. Non of my originals ever broke. And theyre over 20 years old.

  • Oh ...I know how u feel...it's awful...how much did u pay for it?if i may as... Cause i just bought one and waiting for it to arrive...What other aspects about it that i should worry about?

What did u do with urs? did u superglue it?

  • Yeah :( I used Krazy Glue and it bonded the inside of broken waist back to the way it was. But it sucks that it happend. I was being real gentle too. I paid 149.00 with tax included. I shouldve just bought another Matchbox Voltron on ebay. Watch out for the neck pieces and the arm tabs. Theyre friggin small and look scary. <_<

  • Thanks for the tip man, I REALLY appreciate it...Does the waist on urs still twist???

  • Hey do you think you can do Masterpiece Voltron?

  • they kinda look like S.D. figures but voltron is cool

  • I used to own the GoLion toy back in Kuwait. Unfortunately, I lost both the red and green lion heads. Amusingly, I found him again at a convention last year, only to discover he was also missing the red and green lion heads. :p

  • More Voltron!!!!

  • I have that Voltron and the motorized one. I also have dozens of megazords. Power Rangers were not ripoffs of Voltron because their history thraces back to the 70's.

  • poops

  • niiiiiice toy

  • Man this video is cool. I've never had a chance to find Voltron toys ever, even when I was a kid.

  • hey DCopmose how long did it take u to purchase all those transformers and are u like rich!

  • I love this toy and your videos.I have the die-cast Lion-Bot giftset, but do you have Voltes V?I have the original die-cast bad boy from the 70's it was the very the first toy I ever got and still in my possesion its about 30 years old now and missing some parts but I still love it.If you have one can you do a review? Thanks

  • hey i got one my dad got it for me i was so happy to get one... but i lost the green one and the red one at my cousins house so all i have now is the black lion and the blue and yellow lions

  • hes like a megazord

  • he's a lot better then a megazord.

  • I have yet to hear the "in all of there glory" catch phrase

  • I had the asian version called "Lionbot" it came with all the individual weapons for each lion shown in the cartoon the missles and torpedos and it also came with the Blazing Sword and Spinning Razorblade. I think Matchbox shorted us on Lion and Vehicle Voltron.

  • one word "SWEET"

  • you can watch voltron on cartoonetwork mondays-fridays at 5:30 in the morning.

  • Awesome! but seriously, you think you are a real collector? where is the Voltron second series toys? I need to see me some gladiator Voltron. Just playing, i dont mean to hate, just givn u a hard time.

  • ur the man!!!!....u should do a review on the master piece voltron!!!...i have the matchbox voltron also but its missing the lion heads! :(..ugh!!!..my voltron has nubs lmao

  • the ownser inthe voltron intro sounds like peter collin

  • It IS peter cullen

  • Did you know that your one of the luckiest son of a bitch for having a massive collections of transformers??

  • yeah, I figured I was. ;)

  • i used to have something like that, onlt they were more sleek and curved.i cant remember what version it was.

  • Maybe the Stealth Voltron from the 90's

  • Datz sum collection you got there on your shelves...

    i'm impressed.

Hw many transformers you got in total dude?

  • i have the originals home .!! gonn sell them on ebay lol

  • I got Voltron 1 year after it was released and it did come with the blazing sword.

  • I have those toys but I couldn't put them together and now there scattored around my house. The leg on the black lion was busted.

  • i had the metal ones when i was little but when we moved i lost them

  • i use time have the yellow one wen i was 4 i wonder wtf was this thing sapose to do then i saw cartoonetwork and saw voltron and i thoght it was cool then the 3d one wich i think suck i got the cheep plasic ones that broke and i lost my old one

  • Great review DCompose...Again, I ask, "What the HELL do you DO to earn enough money for a collection that large?!"

  • I work for a bank.

  • Great review DCompose...Again, I ask, "What the HELL do you DO to earn enough money for a collection that large?!"

  • Nice review! I have the same one but I have the one big box Matchbox version (opens like a book); question: are the red square marks on the black lion arms that continues the logo on the chest painted on or are they stickers? Mine are stickers. Also, what's the best way to get the arms off? Thanks!

  • Awesome video review!

  • Thank you :)

  • I always wanted the plastic lions when I was a kid because it had action figures of the human characters who would go inside. My only nitpick about your review is that you didn't show the nifty hidden weapons the yellow and blue lions possess.

  • I was lucky enough to have this set years ago, even if it didn't survive the years. Until I saw the box art for yours, I had forgotten that the Lions were actually Voltron III. Voltron I was the vehicles and Voltron II, which I had a couple of, was comprised of three robots that just came apart and stacked on top of one another. I'd like to know more about both of those, and especially the plastic lion set.

  • Dude, great review. do you have soundwave or soundblaster? If so, can you review one of them?

  • I have them both.

  • looks like the joints are kinda loose

  • the only thing that's a little loose is one joint in the blue lions front paw, other then that, the thing is actually unused.

  • at the beginning it sounded like peter cullen talking about voltron

  • It is Peter Cullen :)

  • that was the best review yet! I Liked all the special touches, sound effects and video cutting. Nice Job!

  • Thanks dude, I appreaciate it.

  • i loved that show

    w,.e happened at the end?

  • Yes, Voltron one of my many Favorites.

  • It rocked.

  • who is your next project

  • This is actually the original Voltron toy from the 80's.Were you ever able to get the new Masterpiece Voltron from Toynami. Are you aware it was produced?

  • I had the Masterpiece Voltron for a short amount of time, but opted to let it go for "other stuff" :)
