wow lol.. i tried the spring boost thing and i always screw it up when i get to the guys on the platforms lol i cant go that low then that high, this is one of the only ones i cant get s lol arggg, you sure did a great job on this one thouhg lol one of your most impressive in my opinion
Thanks. First, I'm assuming you can Boost Grab alright - In order to get to the star, boost grab off the ball once, let yourself drop till you are about 3/4 down the screen then BG your way up to the star.
I only nail this run like 1/10 so don't get discouraged - it takes a lot of practice and replays (but is completely worth the effort).
The first time it happened, I was completely shocked as well... I had no idea what had happened or if I could even replicate it. It's hard to run it, but really gratifying - one of my favorite levels to run!
I must say that's impressive even if I hate saying that somebody is good at a game, you're a lucky one :p
Anyway, the thing you're doing in the last part of your vid is strange, I tried to practice but I must say it's hard ^^' You gotta use D-Pad and C-Pad simultaneously? Or just C-Pad?
By the way, are you playing on N64? Cuz' your game is definitely faster than mine...
Second, the last part of my vid is done by pressing and holding Up+Direction and sliding thumb from upC to B rather quickly... hard to explain hard to do but very worth it
Third, yes this is on an N64. The speed is by doing the technique mentioned above JUST as the spring ball flings Marina (one frame opening) and you will fly off at a stupidly fast rate.
The strat is really hard and this is one of my most proud runs, I'm glad you've enjoyed.

I used that strat as best as I could, and I was lucky if I got an A. the only part I can't get down is the end part. When I try your super secret stay floating trick with the grab and ^c, I always get stopped by the first ... structure.. carrying the small guys that jump on the boat.
You're either not going fast enough or you arent letting yourself fall far enough... this strat is pretty rough tough... took me a while to get it down
HOW DID YOU DO THAT PART AT THE VERY END!?!? The part where the clan-people ussually drop on the platform? It looked like you were going ^>^>^>^> with the C-buttons, but i tried it on my N64 and it doesn't work. How'd u do that!?
Oh, now that i looked closely, i see how you did it. I'll try it. And maybe, if I'm lucky, i'll get an "A". I'd be happy with that. All i really want is all "A"'s. Quite a fine startegy. But it looks very complicated. Why don't you use this strategy on other spring balls in the game?
Its one of my most favorite runs... and one of the hardest... I'm proud because it's completely my own strat. The first time I successfully got it - I got around 15 seconds... (I didn't have a capture card at the time =( )... I felt compelled to show my wife - and after about an hour of trying to get it again (and her laughing the whole time) she sat there in awe when I finally got it to work ^_^

In this particular case, I press Up C just as Marina is letting go. The timing is VERY specific... I haven't quite tested but I wouldnt guess you have any more than 2-3 frames to get it right...

I don't think it was thier intention... as simply going over the level, you can easily get an S.
This is definitely one of if not my favorite game of all time >_>

to stay up - hold direction+up and slide your thumb from upC to B... do it over and over and over...
to go that fast, you need to press the upC just as marina is leaving the ball (its hard to time)

I do... when I can... like in 3-5 (just like this) and 2-10 (upwards)... and to a smaller extent 1-3
