To all the British folks watching, I'm just curious: what are some of your favorite American comedy shows? It's interesting that anything exotic (American humor, to a Brit for example) is seen as funnier. Meanwhile, the snobby Americans like myself are nuts over Monty Python and Rowan Atkinson, etc.
@feee99 I liked Parks & Rec and 30 Rock (without knowing the SNL history.) Though I have to admit I mostly avoid US sitcoms as they are generally moralistic and dull (Malcolm in the Middle, Scrubs) or replace comedy with lazy contemporary references.
I can recommend Nathan Barley (Julian Barratt), Garth Merenghi's Dark Place (Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade) and Saxondale (Steve Coogan) for older stuff, One Foot in the Grave and Men Behaving Badly had their moments.

England only has around 200 total universities, whereas the US has over 4000! Not that i am criticizing any countries education system, but i am pointing out how flawed your point is.
@buckrogers1985 the UK and the US have the same % of people living in poverty (about 15%). Furthermore, those who can't afford it are given public housing and medicare (government healthcare). Even more, we give more money to charity than any other country in the world, and it's not even close. Finally, our population is about 5x the size of yours, so we've managed a better system while doing it for a lot more people.

I'm so glad I was born in the UK, because I can enjoy the brilliant things about both the UK and the USA. Obviously, as a true Brit, part of me despises America, just like the special parts of me reserved to despise every single thing in the world for one reason or another, including myself, and I love that. But I can also enjoy all the fantastic things America has given the world. I think if I was American, I wouldn't like anything about the UK, and I'd be missing out.

@LMW87MMA Yeah I'm British and half my immediate family live in the states. I've been there many times and there is a pretty strong underlying belief that they are the best country in the world. They are actually pretty touchy about jokes aimed at America, they cant really laugh at themselves, which I find quite arrogant. I do think though, that on the whole, the states is a good country and their sense of American pride if you will, has got them where they are today.

I worked with a working class bloke from Yorkshire who was a businessman and a multimillionaire. I once mentioned that I treated myself to tea at the Savoy or Claridges. He had never been to "fancy and posh" hotels because they were not for people like him and it was "above his station". @LMW87MMA Yeah I'm British and half my immediate family live in the states. I've been there many times and there is a pretty strong underlying belief that they are the best country in the world. They are actually pretty touchy about jokes aimed at America, they cant really laugh at themselves, which I find quite arrogant. I do think though, that on the whole, the states is a good country and their sense of American pride if you will, has got them where they are today.

I worked with a working class bloke from Yorkshire who was a businessman and a multimillionaire. I once mentioned that I treated myself to tea at the Savoy or Claridges. He had never been to "fancy and posh" hotels because they were not for people like him and it was "above his station". In England, there seems to be an obsession with upper vs middle vs lower class, royalty vs commons, posh vs chav, public vs state school and so on. @ruthio1 The real reason why Germany lost the war was because Hitler was so preoccupied with Russia and gravely underestimated them and bit off more than he can chew. As for the Brits, they were getting their asses hand to them by the Nazis until the US "officially " joined the war, any British or American ww2 doc can tell you that.

@DrRiddlez2015 wrong Hitler tried invading britian for months but he couldnt do it the British defences were to strong all while america stayed neutral and Henry Ford sent them materials1940. Because Hitler could not invade Britian he then swooped on russia but if Britian had fallen Germany could then of used the British Navy the best in the world at the time and invading russia would of been much easier also britian was sending supplies the russia in the artic convoys so get ur facts right mate
