The wheel was torn out of his hands, and yeh, once you're in the shunt it's fine to leave your hands off the wheel so you don't damage your wrists.

Is this case bianchi didnt payed much attention to the car behind or beside him , only paying attention for overtaking / or turning in for the corner thats why these two collided...
