@Aci140 Maybe not all Americans but the majority don't know where Argentina is, I mean I went to an immersion course and there were people from USA, I presented myself and said "I'm Argentinian", and later an american guy started to talk with me in Portuguese so I looked at him like o.0 WTF, I speak portuguese and therefore I understood what he was telling me but then I asked him why was he talking at me in Portuguese and he said "don't you Argentines speak portuguese" 0.o OMG

@sicmaggot09 only becasuse the europeans have a foreign player limit, thats why he use his grandfather italian nationality to have the italian passport, but hes argentinian.
the media dont give ginobili credit cause he aint black......hes LATINO.......gots more trophies than almost all active players in the nba........euro championships......mvp's....nba champ......and gold medal OLYMPICS......BEST PERIOD.......
Just for all the courious: Manu Ginobili is argentinian but, like his surname confirm, has Italian descents. So that's why they treat him like an 'european' player: because he formed himself in Europe and there he has started to play better and better.
He is exciting player just because he is Argentinian as a lot soccer players there with the same exciting heart as he had...but not because He was playing on european league ...that is all
sometimes you americans make laugh so hard, he says that ginobilli is from Argentina and latter "the best european player ive seen in my life", grab a book...
Well, he's from Argentina alright, but he played most of his professional pre-NBA career in Europe, and was one of the best players over there for several years. His "school" was in Europe, so he can be labled as an "European" player...basketball-wise.
Oh, and he has dual citizenship too (Argentina + Italy-> Europe).
@tommycuccia So??? he plays int he US now, is he american? the dual citizenship is only becasuse the europeans have a foreign player limit, thats why he use his grandfather italian nationality to have the italian passport, but hes argentinian. Sorry for my bad english, hope you undurstand me.
Se refiere a su pasado como jugador de la liga italiana y de la euroliga de basketball, luego de sus logros en Europa pudo pasar a la NBA. por eso habla de "jugador europeo".
Well, he doesn't object so he must find something excusing them calling him European. I know what you mean, but for you to say "grab a book" entails maybe they really are confused about Argentina being located in Europe and that would also basically be calling them all idiots. They're not scholars, but you calling them idiots is really snobby of you and makes me want to throw up on whatever country you're from.
@tristessa771 he doesnt object him because hes polite. Anyway, i wasnt starting a go man, most american knew that and take like it was, and laugh about it, take it easy, you dont need to throw up any country, maybe Chile, but thats another story...cheers

@gamorza2002 . Don't be naive! He's just pretending to be stupid! They know where Argentina is. Especially since Argentina is one of the best teams in the world. Besides Manu played in Italy for sometime. For Americans they don't care where you come from as long as you can play ball. It's true that most Americans are very ignorant about things Not USA, we in Latin American act just as ignorant as them when we dismissed them like this. Go Spurs!
@gamorza2002 Cuando dicen europeo se refieren a FIBA. El término european player es para los no americanos en general ya que la mayoría pasa antes por allá.
@fantastik4z nonsense, Barlkley now knows about the european inmigrants in Argentina during the first years of last century? Besides im from Argentina, and im argentinian not european, its like calling someone from the US French because his grandfather came from France.
bytch majority of argentines are europeon pure blood born in argentina......italian swizz..spanish...europeon decent........u guys r not mestizo.....hes calling him europeon player because previously to the nba he played in europe ,.........
@gamorza2002.... Ginobilli made a name for himself in Italy (Europe) where he played for 5 years bf coming to the NBA. He played European basketball so saying that he was the "Best European Basketball player" isn't necessarily false mi amigo. He was playing the man a compliment, don't be a d*ck
Ginobili, Scola, Nocioni, Delfino have all dual passport (the surnames are clearly italians).
2) Manu played very few pro baskebtall in Argentina, while he played and matured as a pro for 4 years in Italy (1998-2002), where he became the played he's (expecially thanks to Ettore Messina).
So, calling him "european" basketball player is not that "scandal" or error ... expecially on the basketball side (and, as explained, in a minor level also on the "racial" side).
for some reason in the US when u say Argentina they automatically think about Italy and Europe... And that Manu had played in Italy b4 the Spurs it makes it all messed up but Argentina is in South America Magic!! Not in Europe!! lol My 2 thumbs up anyhow for Charles and Magic that anyway they freakin love Manu's style!
for some reason in the US when u say Argentina they automatically think about Italy and Europe... Not in Europe!! lol My 2 thumbs up anyhow for Charles and Magic that anyway they freakin love Manu's style!
Best player in the NBA these past couple weeks. In their most recent meetings, he has outplayed LeBron, Kobe, Pierce, and Allen, and he has looked better than KG and Howard.
"HE IS GINOBLIIIIIIII " jajajaja Grande SIr Charles los que crecimos viendote jugar en Argentina seguro entre ellos Manu es un orgullo que lo reconosca y te guste el juego del Narigon.
Most americans ignore what happen outside USA, but in this ocassion they were talking about basketball styles and was perfectly understandable. Ginobili played first in Argentina but he formed himself as a great player in Italy. In fact, he played very few matches in the argentinian league.
they know hes south american but because he flourished in the euroleagues and not in argentina so hes considered a european player like alot of players who go over to play in europe who arent from there.
Is not exactly an european- born guy. He's argentine but he has italian descendents so, he has also italian nationality. Aprox. 60% people from Argentina has italian parents, grandfathers... I could say he's argentine-italian; when you hear him speaking spanish, you feel the argentine accent. Anyway, amazing player!
kenny "the hater" smith is a freakin retard, manu is not from europe..... from argentina, argentina is in south america. that dude is such an idiot n we can forget about magic callin him european because hes a laker great. kenny is the most discriminating idiot in all of cemmentating.......
manu ginobili is a monster he cant be gaurded he is just a beast "have u ever seen anyone dunk on someone like this man right here" he got him good my boy manu is getting another chip this season lets go spurs
I don't think he is dirty . many other player are far more dirty than Manu.
Just because he's a european phenomenon, people have to make up excuses for getting beat by a light skin player. But if he was on their team they wouldn't bother lying about him.
guys, 90 % of argentina´s population is european descendant, if i´m not wrong in u.s.a. is the same no? how many white americans consider them self as brits o french o europeans?
hardly anyone. cus were all intermixed. we got black mexicans or blexicans, we got white mexicans or wexicans, we got mixed black and white people or milk chocolate. we got regular black people dark chocolate. we got asians. we got black people mixed with asians (blackanese lol) no one really cares where their great great great gparents came from. Were all Americans not europeans.
Ginobili is argentinean-italian, as aprox 60% people from Argentina. Manu has also italian nationality beacause many members from his family were italian
another one it could be was cuz he has italian blood incase u guys didnt know that his dad is italian or somtin like that and yes i think he meant that he played in europe
wtf is that flying pixel? O.o

MatteoTN 1 year ago
It's funny to read the same comments about Ginobili, Argentina, Italy and Europe ... over and over again ...
Ok, one time forever:
1) Manu, like a good half of the argentinians, has got italian grandparents or grand-grandparents.
So he has dual citizenship Argentina-Italian, like Mike D'Antoni has dual U.S-Italian citizenship (and passport).
D'Antoni played even with Italy at Euro1989, and Ginobili, if wanted, could have played with Italy too (see Camoranesi or Sivori in soccer).

Someone should tell that dumb f*ck that Argentina is in South America, best "european" player, stupid
Logitec13 2 years ago 3
Most americans ignore what happen outside USA, but in this ocassion they were talking about basketball styles and was perfectly understandable. Ginobili played first in Argentina but he formed himself as a great player in Italy. In fact, he played very few matches in the argentinian league.
cebollarodriguez 2 years ago
they know hes south american but because he flourished in the euroleagues and not in argentina so hes considered a european player like alot of players who go over to play in europe who arent from there.
GiantsRCk8 2 years ago 2
By european they meant the players who come from European leagues and Manu was a European players before he came to NBA

Orlan54 2 years ago
Is not exactly an european- born guy. He's argentine but he has italian descendents so, he has also italian nationality. Aprox. 60% people from Argentina has italian parents, grandfathers... I could say he's argentine-italian; when you hear him speaking spanish, you feel the argentine accent. Anyway, amazing player!
odracir1986 2 years ago 3
kenny "the hater" smith is a freakin retard, manu is not from europe..... from argentina, argentina is in south america. that dude is such an idiot n we can forget about magic callin him european because hes a laker great. kenny is the most discriminating idiot in all of cemmentating.......

I don't think he is dirty . many other player are far more dirty than Manu.
Just because he's a european phenomenon, people have to make up excuses for getting beat by a light skin player. But if he was on their team they wouldn't bother lying about him.
sci684 2 years ago
hahaha !!!!!!! Man !!!!!! Magic totally got him !! I was thinkin myself, and I know my NBA ''Who could dunk from Europe ?!...DAMN !!! HES RIGHT !!!''
Love Ginobili, but he's not the cleanest or most honest player miserably....

guys, 90 % of argentina´s population is european descendant, if i´m not wrong in u.s.a. is the same no? how many white americans consider them self as brits o french o europeans?
maximilianitoaguirre 2 years ago 6
hardly anyone. cus were all intermixed. we got black mexicans or blexicans, we got white mexicans or wexicans, we got mixed black and white people or milk chocolate. we got regular black people dark chocolate. we got asians. we got black people mixed with asians (blackanese lol) no one really cares where their great great great gparents came from. Were all Americans not europeans.
cshsfootball 2 years ago 2
in the same way manu is argentinean, not italian, like we all are argentineans, not european, or native americans
maximilianitoaguirre 2 years ago 5
exactly
cshsfootball 2 years ago
Ginobili is argentinean-italian, as aprox 60% people from Argentina. Manu has also italian nationality beacause many members from his family were italian
