Agreed. Federer was somewhat of a late-bloomer in tennis. But to his advantage, he plays a game that is less dependent on athletic ability and much more dependent on skill--which increases with age.
And btw, do Rafa and Roger watch many tennis matches together, live? Because there are a lot of photos of them sitting down together in tennis gear, on stands amongst the audience.
I love how, in many of these photos, both players are holding a trophy, but they're both smiling and talking to each other. Usually, if both players were holding a trophy, meaning they'd just played, one would be happy and the other would be grumpy, and they definitely wouldn't be speaking, unless they're related or compatriots.
Nadal have not acomplished yet the half of what Federer has done, but the best out there up to the task is Nadal, He have a though road ahead even though, Federer #1.

Federer, what a champion! 14+ slams (prob if he avoids nadal!), became nadals bunny, cried like a baby once the battering from nadal took its toll. He will always have that in the back of his mind and so will any objective tennis viewer that he got owned by nadal repeatedly!. its a pity their absolute peaks never matched, federer was on a slow decline since 2006 whilst nadal reached his best in 2008.
the only year when federer was still playing well and nadal was nearly at his best was 2007.
