  • This is the film that made me buy my hvx and the redrock

  • Aww. That was actually kind of a sad short film. Love the ending, dude. Idk why but it was awesome.

  • are u using the auuto setting cuz its re focussing in the end idk but check out ur footage

  • Yesss.

  • Whats the diffference between the HVX200a and the HVX200?

  • @rubent100 the "200" released in 2005 and the "200a" relased in 2008 which features improved CCDs and an adjusted lens. These changes improved image quality in addition to providing a wider angle of view (:

  • Very good steadycam work, reminds me

of the Bourne movies, nice editing, and nice foley!

  • It's well worth it to spend time with the camera's manual settings and utilize the 24p mode.

  • REALLY cool shots in your footage and your use of HD is pretty cool. But wouldn't you say your shutter speed is a bit high?

  • This is some of the best AG-HVX200 I've seen. The lens makes a big difference. Is there anything else you changed to get that look? Any filters? Im thinking of getting one due to cost to look ratio.

  • wow the firestore really made this footage look nice! I need to get a firestore so I can have that look

  • isn't the firestore just storage?

  • yeah I was just yankin yur chains :p

  • that blue film look color is fantastic at 0:52 perfect color or lens or whatever u used , great vid

  • looks good to me, good job, steve banks.CSC

  • looks good!

  • are you using lents for that? hmm but phisically or did you mean software..

  • nice what software did you used to edit

  • trevahh - futhermore it's time consuming! and i've seen some people took stuff with hvx and the stuff they took wasn't mindblowing at all just like they took it with some random vhs camera! so they must be something about this guy's version! is it the camera setting or the editing process on his mac? i really need to know! i don't want to spenk 6Gs atnd create shit!

  • It has that film look to it because its shot on 35 mm lens. M2 Redrock installed on the HVX. And of course it's color corrected

  • i have a question i am interested in a new camera. anything under $3,000 any suggestions?

  • spend the extra 500 bucks and get an HVX200

  • are they that good?

  • Hey.

what type of lens adapter did you use to achieve the grainy look? or was it through post:?

  • Wow digital cinema.

  • hvx200 is crap , i sold mine a few months ago .. the only great thing is the 100Mbit dvcprohd codec. Handling and Imager is no match with the PMW EX1 or 3.

  • Idk I haven't seen an EX 1 video that has that color look of a hvx....I like how the HVX handles colors better.

  • that was real nice. well done

  • you've got to tell me. in which scene file mode did you capture this? i'm guessing it's f5 - scene cine v or f6 - scene cine d, right? how about the nd filter? 1/8 1/64 or off? omg please tell me?

  • You can change them to you own settings too. I'm sure he through off his color temp, turned down the master pedestal, and possibly changed his detail levels as well.

  • can you guess his exact settings like his scene file mode, nd filter, color temp, master pedestal, detail levels and etc.

i really need to know. don't expect me to experiments with the pricy p2 or even an external hd! you know how much that cost don't you!

  • this is beautiful! this is a piece of art!

  • wow that hass to be better camera. looks real good not fuckin grains

  • :35; WOW. THats what a 35mm does.

  • This is fantastic work. I don't care what anyone says, that looks close enough to film to me.

  • I don't know what to say. Good colors, but most of the shots are out of focus. I'd rather practice more on focusing, or simply just ditch the converter

  • did you do any color correction on this video?

    looks great.

  • Dude did you used th Ag-hvx200 or the hvx200A, cuz the noise its pretty low, i like it, and how it comes u recorded 1080 24p, i though it was just 1080i

  • is it heavy?

  • what type of lense was this?

  • Beautiful shots. Amazing camera. How much would you say the AG-HVX200 ranges around and how much did you pay for it?

I'm in search of one but am wondering if there's a way to get it cheaper than the panasonics whopping 6 grand.

  • I have a P2 myself~ In fact, you can use the 1080i mode, but set it to 25P, then you can use P2 as a 1080P camera. In this setting, you can still set your shutter speed freely ^0^

  • HVX films in all formats, SD and HD along with the 60i,30p, 24p frame rates

  • so cool.. cine gamma i want that camera

  • What the.. I'm sure 720p was the largest the HVX could go to, apart from 1080i. ??

Nice vid though, canon lens worked well.

  • The HVX200 goes up to 1080p, but i think it can also film 1080i and it can surly film 720p

    -----and 480p :p

  • wow

  • What type of 35mm adapter did you use? Is it just the lens or the full package? Also did you have to use a 50mm lens?

  • the audio lets the video down, theres a delay

  • this IS the film that inspired me to buy the HVX-200 and LetusExtreme and I am glad I did...

  • dont look like letus maybe redrock, is better. sorry

  • Was any post color correction done after this was shot?

  • This looks amazing man. hit me up when your ready to sell this camera... haha.

  • The Audio is horrible, which is what brings this video down, but otherwise visually it looks really really good. Nice!

  • VERY VERY FILM LIKE its amazing can u tell me how i get this quality with sony fx7 PLEASE i like this color tone a lot (blue)

  • Has anyone had any luck with the DIY 35mm adapter for sell on ebay?

  • what kind of 35mm lens was it or brand there are so many out there. i would like to shoot my video with this picture qualaty. thanks.

  • Very good. What did you use to CC? What shutter speed was that?

  • omg amaaziingg i liked that blue cinematic feel at 00:50 did u add any effect to that or it is the adapter 35mm?

  • did u have a focus puller?

  • great job!! focus is kinda soft, and I'm not complaining. Not sure if you were going for that or not, but i think it adds to the mood. Nice vid, glad to see another HVX user.

  • wow looks like a real movie

  • great footage...very moody...has a real '70's Werner Herzog quality to it...

  • you need lighting and color corrections.

  • dude you're so retarded.. just quit in life mkay?

  • 1080/24p? you mean 24fps, not that it recorded 1080 progressive at 24fps, right? I can tell from the moving shots that it's 1080i at 24fps. it becomes a pain in the ass when compositing. looks great though, didn't mean to be a diva over here....

  • I'm sure he meant 24p, When you shoot on DVCPRO HD, you mean business.

  • 35mm adapter ?

  • great depth of field. excellent framing

  • excellent!

  • FOCUS!!!!

  • focus on shuttin the fuck up

  • so you can change the hvx200 lenses? or you add another in front of the camera?

  • sick! looks great. Which lens did you use and where was this shot?

  • Check my own test : watch?v=DKKm0hTq7WQ

  • It truely is all about the lens

  • where did you get the stuff and how much did it cost

    ?

  • Again, great stuff! which adapter did you use?

  • damn you got the hvx. i have a sony hdr fx1

  • So I'm assuming you had no lights present at all there, correct?

  • ApesAPopin I had a completely different expierence - the Redrock rocked our production and gave us better results than the mini35. maybe you got a bad unit. I looked at the P+S and Redrock side by side at NAB and the Redrock had a better picture

  • Looks good.

  • i shot this, check out tandem in my videos for better looking footage. i will upload more for you, including the upcoming BING BONG BROTHERS short film.

  • What do you use in post to get good color and blacks?

  • holu SHIT, looks like a real fucking movie

  • Nice depth of field, and perfect shutter!!!

  • Hello:

Where can you buy the Panasonic AG HVX200 35mm SLR camera lens adapter from? This is great quality. Let me know, thanks.

    Scott

  • A new HVX-200 is about $6500 and the Redrock Micro kit is about $2300.

You can probably get them at B&H photo.

    -MGM

  • google "redrock 35mm" best one out there for the price...and go with nikon lenses...

  • The Redrock sucks. Just shot a feature with it and it kept loosing focus and the lens mount is just a huge pain. It doesn't even have real glass in the thing. It's plastic. The only 35 adapter that is worth anything is the Mini 35.

It is expensive but you pay for quality. The redrock is a cheap piece of junk you could build yourself for even less than they want for it.

  • sure, the redrock is designed for lower budgets, and is therefore a little more cheaply built. but that just means you have to have people on it that pay close attention and can work with it properly. a good focus puller, a good camera tech. I've used it a few times and had zero problems. not fair to call it a piece of junk just becuse you had some trouble using it. for a great demo, google: redrock studio monthly test

  • Glad you had a good experience with it. But we had a great focus puller, and camera crew. We had to multiple time take it apart to fix it cause it is cheap. For low budgets go for it, but if you can squeeze the extra money for the Mini 35 I'd say do it. When you are working so inexpensively to begin with spending time dealing with problems due to things like the 35 adapter it can end up costing you even more than it would to rent the Mini 35 to begin with. What camera where you using it on?

  • hvx200. we had a full set of lenses, 85, 105, 25...never had a single problem with setup, use, or breakdown...all of our shots were locked down, perhaps that was the difference. were you sing a rig or *gak* hand held at all? it may be that the redrock just doesn't like being jostled at all...

  • Could be it. But still thats pretty bad for what it is supposed to do. In the end it really just comes down to the glass you put in front of it. But we where more or less all handheld.

  • thats good man do you have any problems with low light with the camera?

  • Holy crap that awsome. and with 60p it could look insane. My mouth waters.

  • I want one.... but i'm too poor... damn :/

  • wow not bad! looks like a real film footage :D awesome camera!

  • looks beautimous

  • woooooooooooooooahhhhhhhhhhhh awesome! thanks for posting!

  • If you can cup your eye to block out the white background from this site, you can see a bit more detail -enough to see a buzzed actor when he pulls his head back. Otherwise, it's a very dark film. I think contrast looks fine. But probably wasn't shot w/ the YouTube venue in mind;)

  • VERY nice. It's good to see too because most HVX stuff out there looks far too much like video in my opinion. It seems like the blues always look like bright purple, the reds look far too red - the colors just pop too much --- This looks great though. Very film like. Nice work.

  • excelent look

  • Not bad, like the sound its important to have good sound, Want to see more

  • The end of the film looks so film like. This is the only video on YouTube that achieved this type of quality.

  • JVC HD100 is a cheeper camera and the DP for the TV show 24 says it best looks like film out of all the HD prosumer cams. The new sony should be nice

  • too contrasty for my taste

  • was the adapter you used the M2? Which SLR lenses did you use? Pix look great.

  • Who is that hot boy? Give me his digits.

  • is that you Joe Clark? :)

  • where did all the details in the blacks go? did you do anything to raise the contrast that much? need to be careful especially in dark spots like the ones shown in the movie. the adapter and the lens probably ate up a lot of light...
