  • Vangelis style music. Love it. Leonard Parkin we hardly knew ye.

  • Ours was usually with Leonard Parkin.

Whatever happened to proper news..instead of sexed-up news like now?

  • I remember this..... Nearly time for Dad to come home from work.

  • the 4 quarter screen is like a round from 'have i got news for you'

its probably where it got the idea from which is the odd one out....?

  • Is that Simon Bates doing the voice over?

  • I think it most definitely is

  • @MoleinaHole yes it is

  • Michael Nicholson was a great journalist, reporter and newscaster. Unlike Moira Stewart and all of the other aloof presenters on the BBC at that time, he and his contemporaries at ITN (such as Leonard Parkin who also presented the News at 5:45) were cheerful, friendly and pleasant yet at the same time were very serious and gritty news gatherers who could still be sharp with their views

  • I think Michael can still be seen occasionally on programmes such as 'Tonight'.

  • I never liked Michael Nichelson. Now Moira Stewart , she was good ..

  • Joanne Woods is the announcer over the clock. This is also from Tuesday 7 June 1983.

  • I would have been inside my mothers tummy! lol

  • I remember seeing this, and the Theme Tune too, WOW the memories it brings. I even remember the Ulster TV Logo at the bottom. I remember there was a show after it called Good Evening Ulster that Gloria Hunniford hosted. Great that she's still doing well.
