I saw Big Country play live 4 or 5 times in the 80's - what an amazing band and what a talent in Stuart Adamson! How ironic he says' 'Stay Alive' at the end - how we wish you had Stu! R.I.P.
listen to this takes me back when me and a couple of mates used to go to the pub in our younger days and play pool ,, we`d stick 50p in the jukbox and put this on along with story of the blues ,,wah.. orange juice rip it up ,,and 2 randoms ,,we all thought these songs made us play better ,, they didnt but we loved them anyway
it is not exactly the same version that is on my record, but still is great to hear. My record (I mean the original "Mix"-45'') is the one with "CHANCE" on A-side, and "The Tracks of my Tears" follwing and with "The Crossing" on B-side. All produced by Steve Lillywhite, 1983-VIRGIN-PHONOGRAM, bye
Warum diese Jungs niemals den Ruhm bekommen haben den sie verdient haben verstehe wer will!.l? Ich habe sie vom ersten Augenblick an geliebt. Und tue es heut noch, 25 Jahre danach. RIP Stuart!, I know, you´re Gerrman was not verry good, but yourr Ennglisch was not verry betttterr!
Remind me was this the B side of the Chance 45 rpm single? I could go up the attic and check but too lazy!
Great post - Big Country are the greatest bar none - I was a member of the Country Club back in the day - saw them live several times will never forget!!!
Barrowlands - Ta for Big Country. I was at his tribute concert with his kids, Steve Harley ( Cockney Rebel) and those who loved him. Broke my heart into peices.
God rest you soul . Stue. Too fast to live Too Young to Die. And too caring also.
I've always thought a successful cover is when a band (or a solo artist) takes a song and makes it their own thing, while still keeping the spirit of the song. I dunno. I think this cover succeeds in both ways...it's obviously Big Country, and it's obviously "Tracks of My Tears". I love it!
some so informed openminded about music...some closeminded and their loss; smokey was fabulous...but expect he would have a wee bother if covering porrohman..lol to all wankers
dear lebarosky you got it ! BACKWARDS/ INSIDE OUT / INBREAD/ idiotic/inward nonesense..away an bile yer heid. inbred stupidity....jist fuckin hell pish off PLEASE
How can one say this "correctly" ... It's like the American underclass taught the whole European world how to emote. Yeah, that's it. Like they dug a trench from the heart to the mouth, so the blues could get out.
i remember when they did this at the first gig at seen them at the royal theatre nottingham 1983..............top! honky tonk woman cover is brilliant too!
Becky---bless you. This is beautiful, and don't worry about the writing, I'm too busy looking at Stuart--lol. How adorable was he at this show? Really tugs at your heart and makes you miss him even more.
God bless big stu never forgotten

I was lucky enough to see these guys at Nottingham's Rock City twice. What a freakin' great band they were.
