First of all CadreFighter needs to get his information correct. My mother has them, and they do no occasionally squawk, they constantly squawk. they may be beneficial for killing a few ticks, but they cannot possibly control all or most of the tick problem!!! Her dog still gets ticks on it....You have serious issues and need to watch your language too, who's the IDIOT?
@99puggle First of all, Guineas do not constantly make noise. And they can control all of the ticks. We live on a 50 acre farm and don't have ANY more tick. When you used to not be able to go outside without getting one on you. I breed, hatch, and sell guinea keets, soooo, just sayin.
Very cute. We love Guinea Fowl. Check out our new Guinea Fowl song "Dont Call me a Turkey" just released on MyAniMovies You Tube channel, just in time for Thanksgiving! Happy Holidays from MyAniMovies.
@tall32guy she peeks at it and scratches at it, she also has a bestfriend which is a chocolate lab i have a video of her on my channell in the house you should check it out.
They're not usually that noisy, I think they felt bothered by the person with the camera. My grandparents had a small flock of them on their farm. Their big value was at night. if anything bothers them, like a predator or an intruder they'll make the sort of noise you hear in the video but like X10 louder. If they started squawking in the middle of the night my grandpa would grab the .410 and head to the henhouse to protect the chickens from what ever was out there.
We have a male and female and they're pretty quiet usually, only have one or two sessions of noise a day. The worst habbit they have at the moment is looking at themselves in the windows of the house and pooing on the verandah in the process. I think the male sees his reflection as a rival and tries to fend him off.
i remember seeing flocks of these on my last trip to the Dominican Republic. they were pretty loud at night but that didnt compare to the mosquitos, lol.
i got 2 of these at a flemarket a few months ago and think i got lucky cuz mine barley make a sound i got 1 male and female which was lucky becouse i didnt know how to tell dfference by sound and guy selling them only knew from there gills or something and they where too young
Lol 8 of these wondered onto our property and haven't moved for a couple of months now...we have six now though,1 got hit by a car and 1 got picked up by a hawk :(
I was in South Africa for vacation 2 weeks ago and I saw Guinea Fowls for the first time, they are very cute animals and funny.I liked them a lot especially when they jump.....animals are wonderful!!!!.j.
I bought my three guineas as babies for $6 each. They are the funniest birds, yet sometimes a little annoying haha. They love eating bugs and spiderwebs! They keep birds of prey away from my chickens and ducks and they are still not full grown! They are taking forever to grow up! lol :) I love they're feathers on the black and white spotted ones they make cool headbands or whatever :)
My parents used to have Guinea Hens and one day my Dad and his friend were gonna cut down a tree in the yard. Like either 5 or 7 Guinea Hens went to follow my Dad and when his friend turned on the chainsaw, the Guinea Hens started talking and the two could hear them while the chainsaw was running, so they turned off the chainsaw and the Guinea Hens stopped talking. Then the chainsaw as back on and the Guinea Hens started talking again XD
they are very good if u live around woods because they eat ticks my ( dont think he is my cousin) he is about he not that old and he owns his own guinea hens ducks 2 male goats and 1 female and female sheep and he owns horses he owns his own like a whole patch of woods and there is big deer in there my dad me and my brother hunt there and hes like rich he owns a constrution sight too hes alsome.!!!!

If you really don't like people around you or want to be disliked, try owning these nuissances on two legs. They never shut up. They squawk at EVERYTHING and are so stupid, they forget wehre they lay their eggs. They are no more a "watch dog" than any other dog that barks ALL the time. Difference is, they cannot bite, so for being useless, yet again another reason to NOT own. I am getting ready to sue my idiot neighbor for the amount of noise thses fool birds make. Useless.
On one hand, I agree that they don't shut up often and that they are a bit stupid... but have you ever kept chickens? Same thing. I wonder about them not biting... mine latch on to the tails of the chickens and you hear the chickens screech and run around the pen with a guinea hanging on for dear life. Mine are some mean birds.
Yeah guinea hens are annoying in the evening, but they most certainly are not useless. They're VERY beneficial, their main diet is ticks and other insect pests.
They are used in pest control.
Would you rather have Lyme Disease or hear the occasional squawking? Your ignorance will bite you in the ass, and literally put you on the death bed. I abhor snot nose neighbors like you with their petty luxuries and trifles.
You're a fucking idiot.
Welcome to Earth. These animals were here BEFORE YOU.
Game chickens give warning signals when there is a potential threat such as a coyote, minx, or namely an owl or hawk overhead, but they emit the same sound when butterflies or kites fly past, so it's a bit unreliable.
it was actually "baby come back" they also say "take a break", "watch your back", "lets play hackysack", "get back yo!" and many other funny things. i speak guinea. hehe
Okay, Im confused. I know wild guinea fowl can fly. But can domestic ones? Like those white ones for example. Its just that my gran has poultry, chickens & turkeys. She said she'd like to keep some guinea's. But she doesn't know wether they'll be hard work looking after
Actually,Gunineas are very well self-protected and yes the domestic ones can fly just as well unless their wings are clipped.Foxes can't climb trees you know?
@Ezza18 ALL gunea fowl are excellent flyers. However, Guineas do not like to fly even as much as pheasants do. Unlike pheasants, guineas prefer tree or perch roosting like turkey and peafowl. By the way, it is interesting ot note that while guineas are farmed and bred to many different colors, they are NOT actually domesticated. The same goes for our quail, partridge and pheasants. The Coturnix or pharaoh quail are the only exceptions. They ARE domestic.
Oh wow! I've never seen white ones before!
