@bkpickell no offense but your reply to my comment was ridiculous. Skunks don't just magically 'carry' diseases. They CATCH them when they are living in the wild, just as feral cats or dogs can. Skunks like Flower who have been bred in captivity by reputable & responsible breeders & receive veterinary care have NO more risk of disease than the family dog or cat. BTW, you have no clue WHAT i care about or don't care about.

They are carriers of more than a dozen diseases that will kill you and your pets. But I'm sure you don't care about that you just care that they are cute and cuddly. I get that.

I just read on a website "Skunks as Pets" that skunks are illeagel as pets in 33 states because of rabies problems. Cute skunk by the way. I think they would make a wonderful pet. I'm sure you can get them vaccinated.

She might have meant feline distemper shots. Skunks would be legal everywhere if it werent for the rabies risk. In NJ where I live you need to have a license and you aren't allowed to bring them in out in public. My skunk stays inside and keeps my dogs company.

YES. It would do much more than gag you. It would stink in every corner of your house. Even the smallest amount of skunk spray is INSANELY strong. I love skunks, I think they're one of God's most adorable creations, but wild ones really shouldn't be kept as pets. Also, it's my understanding that even ones that are bred to be pets require special care and a special diet. I'd suggest getting a cute cuddly kitty cat :o) and admiring skunks from afar.

I've held a huge, fat, cuddly skunk (in white! lol) that wasn't smelly at all. =)

I do believe they might descent them through a little operation. But who knows, I'm not an expert. I have three ferrets (which are related to skunks) and they still have their own little musky smell...

2.Gotta make sure they are legal to have as pets in your state.
