Incredible artist. Smart woman. She sounds great with just an acoustic guitar. I love Joni Mitchell -- but she works the otherside of the musical street. Someone who is close in vocal style to Ms. Smith is Anne Richmond Boston of the Swimming Pool Q's & I wish they would hook up together for a performance. Patti is just so cool. Living testament to the Beats. I would rather spend one hour with Patti Smith than a whole day with a materialistic self-centered fashion model.
in my opinion, patti smith is one of the best poets of all time. i wish i had the amount and unique style of talent she has (not to mention her enviable perseverance). as for the negative comments, it's really easy to criticize an artist you don't happen to like when you know nothing about them. try reading their stories before commenting.
