Jimmy - I been watching this particular video and I been trying to figure out the bell pattern (mozambique) you play here. Can you write it down and post it in Congahead? When you are planning to do a DVD to teach your craftsmanship? In my opinion, your solos are the best I ever seen and/or heard. The content of your solos have perfect flow and patterns perfectly linked. Thank you for teaching me how to play!
Hey can you guys give me an idea of which is timbal is better there the LP tito puente Timbales (most popular) or the LP Prestige?? I'm trying to get a pair but I can't decide!!
These videos from Martin Cohen are such an invaluable document of today's latin music scene. I think they are as great of a gift to lovers of latin music as his line of instruments. Martin, you the man!!
I think the first is a mozambique and the 6/8 is bembe or palo with variations, but please anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks Martin Cohen for doing your vids with such great audio! Great work, drummers.
I have no natural talent. It's stuff like this that keeps me trying for something I know I'll never have. Although, there's a lot of fun in trying. :) Thanks again guys for posting this video!

Gotta love how Eric Velez stays true to his brand as he's playing his Signature TOCA congas at Martin Cohen's Home.

isn't Toca owned by LP?
rumbaparumbero 2 years ago
They are both owned by Kaman Music Corp.
According to Wikipedia
"In 2002 LP was purchased by Kaman Music Corporation and operates as its independent subsidiary within Kaman's music distribution segment. "
LP does not own them but they are both owned by the same parent company.
