  • "Spasiba Kemerovo!" Очень приятно! Вам СПАСИБО за очень интересную игру - до сих пор помню! :)))

  • Bandy is very hard sport. Some players takes frontflip when getting hit by another player. Plays bandy myself in Mjøndalen in Norway.

  • Bollnäs GIF

  • This is just shinty on ice isnt it?

  • its like soccer and hockey combined

  • from the videos I'v seen this sport looks exciting. I feel bad for the goalies having to stop such a small ball on a big net

  • what the hell is bandy? retarded ice hockey? sum1 tell me what its about and sum of the rules

  • Here's the best description - take a soccer field and freeze it. Put 11 players on a side with skates. Stick is hooked as you see and they use a cork ball. When the Soviet Union became a world ice hockey power, the bulk of their team were professional bandy players. This explained their rapid rise to being the world's best hockey players and also created the European/Russian style of hockey (looping, puck control, and finesse - all hallmarks of the game of bandy). Hope this helps.

  • thanks

  • Actually, hockey is made by bandy... i found it in wikipedia

  • brandy branche off of ice hockey or so im told by people that play it and wikipedia is full of crap since anyone can edit it

  • Actually, hockey comes from bandy... I read it in a book.

People is full of crap since they tell you what they think and feal is right instead of what they know.

  • Bandy is much older than Ice Hockey and originates from Russia.

  • Bandy originates from England (where nowadays noone plays it), not from Russia.

  • Nope it does not, it was invented in early 1700's in St. Petersburg, Russia, even Peter the Great played it, however I think that the first "real" game with regular teams were played in England.

  • if you call hitting a ball with a stick on ice bandy, I guess the origins are unclear. however the sport that we today call bandy was first played in england.

  • No.

  • no england

  • @NHL07DS idiot!!!!

  • boooring video, or pictures

  • lol ive never heard of bandy....

  • Does anyone know the title and artist of the song?=) thx, Bandy<3<3

  • Everybody Wants to Rule The World

    Tears for Fears

  • I play bandy. It's very fun.

I live near a Bandy Arena.

Every year it is a World Cup in Bandy on the Arena near me.

It's so fun to be there.

  • Bandy originated in Cambridgeshire. 2 hockey teams had a match, but the pitch had flooded and froze(in the days when it got cold in England. The players went home and fetched their skates. That was how Bandy was invented. The goals are the same size as hockey goals, the corners are the same with all the defending players on the goal line and the bandy sticks are still slightly rounded. If anyone is in Stockholm from the middle of November till March go and see Hammarby play at Zinkensdamms IP

  • It was to football-teams! Why would 2 hockey-teams go home and fetch their skates, when they are probablary on? And the ball can be red, orange, pink and blue.

  • Hockey is played on grass. Ice hockey is played on ice. It´s as easy as that.

  • maby in youir crazy country everywhere else except europe it is call feild hockey. because it is a sport for bitches so it has to be clasified, because wen a normal person hears hockey they think of men killing each other, and rockiting pucks at a net at over 100 miles an hour on ice skates.

P.s i think bandy is preeety cool, looks like a fun game to play in hockey offseason.

  • I want to learn alot about Bandy.

I think this sport looks great.

Where in the US I can go to learn about Bandy?

  • Kyo90,

To find out more about bandy in the US, search for "USA Bandy" on a search engine. This will take you right to the American Bandy Associations website.

  • I love Swedish team, although, I think they play to rough sometimes which take away from the game, not as rough as Kazakhstan, though.

  • im sorry but i just cant respect this sport at all. it seems like it was created by guys that didnt make the hockey team.

  • Actually, the reason the Soviet Union became the world's hockey power so fast was that all of their players were top professional bandy players in the Soviet Union. "European Style" hockey came from bandy, which was 'hockey's father'. Put the top NHL guys on the ice against today's Russian team and they would get carved up like a Thanksgiving Turkey!

  • 100% agreed. Bandy is much older than puck hockey too. Plus swiftysteve I think Swedish team would run circles around top NHL players, well as well Finland I suppose.

  • There are serious talks about including this sport into Olympics as well.

Heh I know half the American team, these guys are awesome, they are mostly based in Minnesota.

  • The only international-regulation Bandy pitch in the western hemisphere is in Roseville, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis.

  • Well, thats probably true in teams such as US and Canada where bandy is not a big sport at all.. In other countries though, where the sport is bigger such as Sweden, Russia and Finland it is totally different..

  • Bandy is the fastest sport in the world!

And you get tackle very hard in a match.

I have friends that had broken their arms bones, and many more thing. I my selv had a skate in the palm of my hand, and it allmost ripped halv of the hand of.

They shoot harder in bandy than they do in hockey to.

  • "Bandy is the fastest sport in the world!"

    hahahhaha

  • maybe not the fastest in all categories but I don't know any sport where the players moves faster where engines isn't used...

  • hahaha OMFG! Downhill Skiing? and they are many many more sports.. But is maybe the most booring sport in the world..

  • haha forgot that one :P what more are there? because I can't come up with any... except downhill skiing in different forms...

  • Luge would be the fastest non-motorsport. 90 miles per hour with NO motor!

  • what about skydiving?

  • Bandy is the fastest team sport in the world.

  • hockey is the fastest

  • Hockey isn't even close.

Check out the message I sent you.

  • watch?v=a5C2Rdz6Mik&feature=related

Hockey is NOT faster than bandy. By the way, in hockey you substitute every half minute, in bandy you might have to play 90 minutes in a row.. With halftime of course :P

  • u dont get subistuted every half minute. the time varies

  • What was that huge screen? Was it a real video screen or just a billboard? I guess the sport is getting popular

  • Yes, the Russian equivalent of a DAKtronics or Jumbotron.
