  • LOOKS LIKE MUD PUPPY

  • Nice work man. I was wondering if you could show me some closeup pics of your jig or maybe a drawing so I can build one. I'm restoring a 69 camaro and a jig would be very helpful. Thanks

  • @kchappell65247

    PM sent...

  • man,i also have a 68 camaro. yours is a Super Sport? so is mine. well request me as a friend and we'll have to exchange photos or somethin. looks nice. yu done yet? or still in process?

  • @bigvanessasupporter

Thanks, yes this car was finished and sold a couple of years ago. This particular car was just a RS, but I do own a 68 SS/RS 396 that I have a few videos on as well. good luck with your 68

  • Did you build that rollover jig yourself? I have a garage my Camaro is sitting it, I had just started it and let the engine run for about 5 minutes, its sitting on jacks, wanted to get it on the road, but after sitting for 12 years the brake lines rusted through.....

  • @subron6er

Yes I built the rotisserie myself 10 or 12 years ago. It is not near as fancy as the store bought rigs but it has served me well all these years and I think I only have about 200 bucks into it

Good luck with you 69, it sounds like a great project.

  • @Rarerat how much will it cost to install floor boards in a shop?

  • @MrNonzerogrunt

I'm sorry I cant answer that, I do 100% of my own work.

  • really cool video, thanks for posting. We have a 69 camaro that we owned for 27 years that really needs what you did to yours. Our 4 year old daughter thinks its her car... thanks agian. Jeff

  • @subron6er

Thank you & good luck with your 69.

  • you do good work im in the process of redoing my 81 camaro and i can weld and sand and patch work. how do u know how to do all of this are you a body man for a career? and is that primmer that you putting on the metal after you finish your welding and grinding? and is it raddle can or spray gun? Im amazed how much of this your doing in ur home garage and it looks professional usually you dont get that out of a home garage! Keep up the great work man!

  • @TheNork4

Thank you for the kind words. I am not a body man by trade, but I have been building cars for 30+ years, so I have had lots of practice. LOL... I built the entire car in my home garage. All the primers were shot out of a gun, no rattle can stuff anywhere. It is possible to get professional results out of your home garage with just a little effort. I finished this car a year & half ago so you can fast forward to Part 13 to see the finished car.

Thanks Again & Good luck with your 81

  • im 14 years old and i was wondering what kind of sander do you use i have a 1965 mustang im working on a

  • @ccandgreg

I used a DA sander unless body work is needed and then I use Dura Blocks and sand by hand.

    Good luck with your Mustang

  • Hey Rarerat, I'm looking to find and purchase a first-generation Camaro myself. If you don't mind me asking, about how much did it cost you to complete the restoration (including the cost of the car)? Thanks, and by the way, your Camaro is awesome!

  • @Spindor543

I originally paid 3500 for the car and spent another 8800 to build it.

  • how long did it take you t restore it?

  • @Tederek

A little under 18 months start to finish

  • looks real nice

  • @tabese1000

    Thank you

  • @Rarerat do you know any place, website any thing that will have parts for my 1948 chevy fleetmaster

  • @MrNonzerogrunt

I'm sorry I don't know on your 48. Good luck

  • @MrNonzerogrunt i do..message me..i know a ton of places to get 48 fleetmaster parts

  • 68 gto at school had like 1/4 or 3/8 inch of filler on the quarter panels and the panel behind the speaker panel

  • Whats that thing you have the car lifted on called? 1:21

  • It is on my rotisserie.

  • Plan B new door skin ah ah.

Great work dude. I was into it at one time still have my 68 in pieces tho.

Maybe some day I will go back to the garage.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I didn't know it was possible to stick that much Bondo on a single door before I ran across that one. LOL... oh well, never a dull moment & it all worked out in the end.

I would love to see your 68 if you have pics.

    Thanks Again, Nick...(Rarerat)

  • Thanks for the vids they really gave me the confidence to start and some strategy to start my 68 project

  • Glad to hear they are helpful & good luck with your 68. Post your progress if you can.

    Thanks,

    Rarerat

  • I'm also restoring a 68 Camaro...where did you get the rotating units to turn the car. Looks like a must need.

  • I built it myself & yes they sure make things easier when you can flip the body on it's side.

  • you do the painting yourself? what do you do as a day job?

For the quarters and skin, were those parts off a diff car, or stock? [sorry. I asked this before too.]

How long did the entire thing take you?

Can I get a rough estimate of cost?

I'm hoping to do one too, but I must save first, which is good because I'm only 16.

  • Hi, Yes I do everything myself. I am a Truck driver by trade.

All the new sheet metal used on this car was Repo, most from Dynacorn and the rest was Goodmark.

I spent almost a year & a half on this car but I only worked on it in my spare time and during the cold winter months I never touched the car.

Good luck with your car & enjoy the process.

    Nick....(Rarerat)

  • Wow, I would have guessed you were a body mechanic or something having to do directly with working on cars.

A year and a half....that's really fast! I would have guessed it'd involve more like 3 to 5 years. haha.

  • No. These cars have just been my hobby for the last 29 years.

When I started this car, I figured it would take me 6 months start to finish. Boy was I wrong!! LOL...

  • well you did really good on it!

what would you recommend for someone like me, who wants to start a project like this? any books?

did you paint it yourself too?

and can you tell me exactly what Dynacorn and Goodmark are? I have no clue...

  • Thank you for the kind words. I am sure there books out there but I have never really looked. You might try and find someone else that is close to you that is doing a project like this and see if you can help. It is really hard to beat hands on experience IMHO. Yes I painted the car myself. Dynacorn and Goodmark and the names of company's that sell repro sheet metal.

    Thanks Again, Nick...(Rarerat)

  • lucky fucker

  • Great job Rarerat. Recently I bought a 92 Camaro RS as a project car. I guess that I will not have to work on it as hard as you, but I recognize that I´m not the only one that have the same inspiration and determination to turn a dream into a true reality. This is the Camaro´s enthusiast stage of mind. Congratulations...!

  • Thanks for the kind words. These cars are a sickness I tell you. LOL... Good luck with your project and enjoy the process, remember if it were easy everyone would do it. Stick with it & before you know it, you will be out driving and enjoying you car.

    Thanks Again,

    Rarerat

  • great job on the car and the videos keep them coming ,,dont leave us hangin man ,,im doin a 67 rs ss car

  • Thanks, I plan to post videos of the full restoration. I don't get that much free time to work on it so it is kind of slow going lately.

Love to see your 67. Do you have any pics or videos?

    Thanks Again, Nick... (Rarerat)

  • Great job, I love you videos

  • Thanks

  • Отлично, так держать!!

  • Thanks, I plan to keep and enjoy the car.
