OMG how I ADORED this song. The words are good and somehow within the overall sound runs a slighty sexy kind of drag; I love that sound. This was definitely my favorite. I was growing up afterall! Man, it still sounds good - and gues what???!! You can actually understand the words! What a concept!!! Tank you so much for this post.
MUSICALMENTE TENEMOS A UN GRAN CANTANTE, UNA AFIATADA ORQUESTACIÓN Y COROS, QUE MANIFIESTAN UNA EXPRESIVIDAD ÚNICA DEL DRAMA DE LA PELÍCULA PUEBLO SIN COMPASIÓN. PERO AL FINAL LA CANCIÓN POR SÍ MISMA ES UNA BELLEZA. SE INDEPENDIZA.
:02 aw look at that face! I heard this song for the first time around 2 months ago, I've been hooked ever since. Someone on another youtube link said that Amy Winehouse should cover this. I agree!
i knew about this song from my 63y/o ftr but i'll always remember when it was played in the 1987 movie Look Who's Talking with Travolta and Alley "dancing" in her kitchen
I at 56 was a wee lad when this came out,so the teenagers of the time of that film must be 60-66 ect! Teenage years are maybe the hardest part of people's lives.
This song could easily describe a few things between Daisy Duke and Enos Strate. Enos' duties would often intervene. Daisy had obligations to her uncle and her cousins. But it was Boss Hogg who had the upper hand.
i had began to read the book. By manfred Gregor: The verdict: town Without pity

There's something so eerie and awesome about this tune. Especially in Pitney's voice.

@doggysector
Thank you! Someone else besides me has seen, and remembers, the Spencer Tracy movie that this song is from, set in Germany just after WW2!

Well done KyProphet...beautiful song and I guess hard to sing...
BRINIS200S 2 years ago
Haha nice! It's a bit tough for me to sing. Some of those low notes are a little too low, and if I sing an octave up, some of the notes are too high.

People talk about how bad we are
Ours is not an easy age
We're like tigers in a cage
What a town without pity can do."

During Gene's country phase he looked a lot like Webb Pierce - as you'll see at 1:24.

In his younger days, he also looked something like Richard Thomas (John-Boy Walton), except with darker hair.
