  • A ute is a pickup truck.

  • what do yanks call utes more like falcon utes?

  • Australians invented the ute, so a ute is a ute, Americans call it a "pick-up truck"...It is just a bastardisation of our "Utility vehicle", shortened to ute.....

  • To all those that thumb downed this comment...you must be Yanks...Australia...Holden...Invented the ute, and pick up is just a piss-poor American term for a ute...Get a mullet up ya!!!

  • @1hr4play Bloody yanks and there pick up trucks all yanks like is everything big

  • @MadRogue2...Too Bloody right...But they can call it a "pick up truck" all they like, but it is still an AUSTRALIAN invention, The Ute!

  • Ford invented it it you dumbass holden bogan. So time for you to get a haircut mullet boy.

  • was ford look it up

  • @1hr4play I love holden but the ute was invented by Ford Australia

  • @zefer14

Holdens are shit , australian built body with american engines

But yea ford created the first ute. The same as ford orginally designed a 4 door ute , but they thought it wouldnt take off , hence holden got a sniff of the idea and realised the crewman.

  • @1hr4play Aussie Aussie Aussie

  • LOL Holden never invented the ute Ford did , a Ute is a car type utility vehicle and not a small truck as they are based on a car design , or other wise know as a sedan delivery in the early years

  • A pickup truck is an American terminology for the Australian invention, The Ute!!!

  • @1hr4play Ford built Model T's with small pick up beds back in the 1920s in the USA. The Model T was experted all over the world including Australia. The unibody car/truck Ute with an integral bed did originate in Australia in the 1930s and was eventually brought to America in 1957 with the Ford Ranchero based on the Ford Courier 2-door station wagon. Chevy followed with the El Camino in 1959..

  • im with ya on that one! holden invented the ute, "pick-up trucks" are just a bigger version. which means they chew more fuel and are more expensive to keep on the road.

  • Actually it was a local Ford dealer from Melbourne that had the idea & put it to Ford Australia.. They built the first one.. but it is a wholly Australian idea.. they wanted acar that could carry stock to the auctions but also take the family to church on the weekends.

  • @biteyerbum actually mate, the first ute was a holden owned by a victorian farmer...he wanted something to cart things to the market an at the same time something him an wifey could go to church in...out came the hacksaw...

  • @TruebluAussie "The story of the utility truck or coupé utility– the ute – began in 1932, when a letter was received by Ford Australia’s plant at Geelong, Victoria. It was written by a farmer’s wife who’d had enough of riding to church in the farm truck and arriving in saturated clothing;

‘Why don’t you build people like us a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday, and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays?’ her letter asked."

  • @biteyerbum actually mate, the first ute was a holden owned by a farmer...admittedly, it was ford who built the first production 'ute' but the first came from an ol holden, a hacksaw, and a blinkin big can of elbow grease.

  • wot he said.... lol

  • @misspresley77 I hope you've learned the answer in the last 2 years but just in case you haven't, it's a utility vehicle

  • @misspresley77 you are obviously not a kiwi or ozzie. a ute is a small truck. short for utility truck. the best known ones were the holdens in the 70's.
