  • flying with this song..

  • amazing album!

  • Probably one of the most prolific and inspiring works he's done at Real World Studios.... Love this album !

  • The lead instrument here is a duduk, which is a double-reed wind instrument that is widely used in the Middle-East, as well as being related to a family of instruments that can be found in places as far flung as Armenia . Its use is said to predate the time of Jesus by a thousand years.

  • Peter is a Musical GENIUS !!!

  • @scandinaviaone very well done! Your "additions" make the tune more "groovie" so to say... Bravo! ;)

  • Wow this version is different from the album one... I never heard it before, were is it taken from? Absolutely astonishing, perhaps better than the album version!

  • @ommadawn76 Actually you are the only one who noticed the difference. I made this version. Not much of a remix, but i just added some extra drums and a few other elements.

    Peace

  • Le moment que je préfère ? de 00:00 à 04:53 (+ tout PASSION + SOURCES OF PASSION)

  • DUDUK IS NOT ARMENIAN INSTRUMENT !!! DUDUK IS ORIENTAL- CAUCASIAN INSTRUMENT !!! PERSIAN NAME OF DUDUK IS "NARMEH NEY",GEORGIAN NAME "DUDUKI" (FROM GEORGIAN WORD "DUDUNI"...),AZERBAIJANIAN NAME - "BALABAN"...

  • @tatobibiluri Maybe you want to ask Peter Gabriel where duduk is from. This music is Armenia and so is duduk and so is Peter Gabriel him self and so is the artists who is playing. When is grow older he might even be Armenian's consoler to GB. He visit Armenia all the time to learn Armenian music. FYI best duduk is made of apricot tree that grow in Armenia. So please stop re-writing the history.

  • Although I really like this, it's realy not much more than warmed over Loreena McKennitt circa 1990s.

  • @sarcee1960 Peter Gabriel is a pioneer of his art and produced this piece in 1989 - prior to the artist you say he is emulating.

  • موهبة حقيقية..........مصر

  • it moves me

  • TRIBUTE TO DUDUK VIRTUOSO - Vache Hovsepyan

  • armenian duduk wiki

  • The instrument called armenian duduk!

  • Oh, the old and the new, Arabic styles with their tension and cadence add to the delivery of the main theme. I met a classical Arabic guitarist in Baghdad, Iraq a few years back and he said that west and east must find a common language and it is music.

  • @scandinaviaone thank god music is one of the few things where the word "prejudice" has no meaning at all -- i simply don´t like it, it means nothing to me

  • @MoveOverCasanova It's OK if you don't like it. But have you watched the movie, Last Temptation of Christ? It applies to every one of us, in that dark little private space where we sometimes doubt there is an afterlife, a god, anything. Each one of us is a god, but wee don't always know it. In the film, Jesus gets creeped out by it, and as the music suggests, he becomes overwhelmed with the insanity of his own divinity. The song covers that emotional tapestry very well. But the song is intense.

  • @jeffteach i saw the film, and the music is not that terrible -- but this is not the gabriel i admire

  • funny -- the weaker gabriel´muisic became, the more he was adored

  • @MoveOverCasanova Weaker??

'Passion' is the belated release of Peter Gabriel's two-LP "soundtrack" for Martin Scorsese's riveting, controversial film "The Last Temptation of Christ". This album represents a selection of North African, Midle Eastern and Asian rhythms and sounds and up-to-date. There are many prominent musicians and vocalists represented from Turkey, Pakistan, India, Ivory Coast, Bahrain, Egypt, New Guinea, Morocco, Senegal and Ghana.

  • @MoveOverCasanova Peter Gabriel spend many years for this project. The album has received near-universal praise from audiences around the world. Many have called it Gabriel's finest work.

    Yet you call it "weak"?

  • @scandinaviaone oh please i have known this album from the very first day --- "spent years on it"...."soundtrack for the great scorsese"......"asioafrican rhythms from abu-dhabi to zimbabwe".....that´s what i said tomyself too, and told myself how great it is objectively, yet i just find it boring, music for "el al" airliners. i like gabriel best when making his dark, british little songs, and not just recording ethno workshops in realworld -- sorry, don´t call me fascist ))

  • @scandinaviaone just what i say - ...the more he got adored!

this is fine muzak, but i do not need a PG if i want that kind of sound, every asian street muso can make such kind of noise, gabriel has so much more inside his brillant mind than that -- this is more "gabriel the producer"

  • @MoveOverCasanova I found your comment a bit upsetting at first. But really, I just think it is sad. Too bad for you.

  • @3daypriest you´re too sweet

  • this is awesome !!!!!!

  • Great video : ) like usual Scandinavione : )

  • very wonderful music .

I LOVE Peter Gabriel It is a really very human man .Thank you ♥♥♥♥♥

  • Beautiful!
