@mandys315: ASL is his first language (as his whole family is Deaf in real life). He went to a Deaf school so I am sure he learned how to speak English (his 2nd language) with speech therapy. But just cuz he knows HOW to speak doesn't mean he WANTS to. He can't hear himself and to pronounce each word accurately is a lot of work. It's easier to express himself in ASL.

I have to agree with sean, that they both make wonderful partners for Emmett, however Bay was hooking up with an awesome guy and he went to war and all of a sudden she's over him. It seems kinda reboundy. Same with Daphne breaking up with Liam. I think if Bay/Emmett happens then Daphne/Liam should happen, and if Daphne/Emmett happens, then that guy that went to war (can't remember his name) should come back (in one piece) and hook back up with Bay.

FYI: He CAN speak in real life, it is Deaf speech (which isn't an insult to say that). What you heard in the last episode was his real voice. But just because he received speech therapy to learn HOW to speak doesn't mean he always WANTS to speak. Deaf people cannot hear themselves do it is a lot of work and memorization for speaking, it isn't a natural thing like for hearing people. So he prefers to use ASL since that is his native language and much easier to express himself in.
