It's interesting. Had I heard this song last month as an atheist I would of either ignored this, or laughed and made a nasty comment; however, now that I have converted to Christianity, and asked the Holy Ghost to fill me, for God to help me become more like Jesus (loving, caring, etc), and God to use me and control my life...I can honestly say this song makes me proud that I made the right decision a night or two ago of asking for salvation.

this was released in 2007, while on "Give it Away" his original performance of this song was released in 2006. Both performances sound almost identical, so no reason to sing with soul just because black people are the audience. This is His style of singing ever since he joined the group, and he does it very well
Yes, it is 2009, but time doesn't change the fact that most black people have a culture that really belongs to them alone. I am not too thrilled to hear whites trying to imitate them, they just don't have the same quality and I am white. I really don't think it's a matter of him trying to sound any other way than he sings this particular song. I know when I sing different songs I put different twists on each of them. Also, it sounds a little jazzy to me and that field is open to all races. As long as they are singing for the right reasons, to life up God, then sing on!
I am blessed to know Jesus Loves Me...The Gaithers are wonderful singers, but do whites need to insert the style singing, which blacks can claim their own? That is their culture as a rule, and we should not borrow too easily what they are famous for. It's a little like plagiarism. A beautiful song but would have sounded better if sung as whites usually sing, or if blacks had sung it, you think? Just a thought!

I've been saved for about 5 years,and until i watched this video and got to thinking about it, I never really thought about how Heaven is gonna be and how exciting it is to know that when I die I'm going there. In fact today I was so on fire for the Lord i couldn't stop moving and clapping and dancing.

oh taste and see that the Lord is good. A fruit is only as good and sweet as the one who has tasted it. I can tell you about God and how wonderful he is but you'll never experience his love if you remain on the outside refusing to try him for yourself. If you dieing of hunger and someone says this is good for food, how will you know that for fact?????

this was released in 2007, while on "Give it Away" his original performance of this song was released in 2006. Both performances sound almost identical, so no reason to sing with soul just because black people are the audience. This is His style of singing ever since he joined the group, and he does it very well

Yes, it is 2009, but time doesn't change the fact that most black people have a culture that really belongs to them alone. I am not too thrilled to hear whites trying to imitate them, they just don't have the same quality and I am white. If people like to hear whites imitate blacks and just can't get it down like they can, who am I to say, don't do it!! Lol

I'm sorry, but you are a little confused. I am a singer. I am not black. And it is natural for me to sing this way. We all sing the way that we can. If it doesn't come naturally to you, you will not do it. If it does come naturally, it is by no means "plagiarism".

Jesus Christ died for all races/colors/nationalities....Yes, Blacks have a wonderful culture, and whites have a wonderful culture,...Who cares what they sound like singing...This is Marshall's natural voice, just like my voice sounds black..I do not try to sound black, my natural voice sounds this way..
I am so glad God is going to be the one judging me by my heart..I am saved and on my way to heaven...I don't have to imitate anyone, God gave me my own voice

@HzWings Hello, I know it's been a while since you posted this comment but I would like to add my comments if you don't mind. I really don't think it's a matter of him trying to sound any other way than he sings this particular song. I know when I sing different songs I put different twists on each of them. Also, it sounds a little jazzy to me and that field is open to all races. As long as they are singing for the right reasons, to life up God, then sing on!

I am blessed to know Jesus Loves Me...The Gaithers are wonderful singers, but do whites need to insert the style singing, which blacks can claim their own? That is their culture as a rule, and we should not borrow too easily what they are famous for. It's a little like plagiarism. A beautiful song but would have sounded better if sung as whites usually sing, or if blacks had sung it, you think? Just a thought!

I've been saved for about 5 years,and until i watched this video and got to thinking about it, I never really thought about how Heaven is gonna be and how exciting it is to know that when I die I'm going there. In fact today I was so on fire for the Lord i couldn't stop moving and clapping and dancing.

I think Guy Penrod is one of the most godly men I have ever seen!

aww come on give them a chance, mark, david, and michael are amaazing singers and amazing men!! i'm excited for the new lineup!! i'll miss guy and marsh of course but, guy was in the group for 14 years and he probably just felt like it was time to move on. And Marsh I think was kinda tired of traveling so much and wanted to be closer to home.
