You are making a fan out of me. I've never heard this before...but I love it! Just feel like I'm driving down some country road without a care in the world when I listen to you sing this. Another fine job! :~)
You sure you're British? You sing it with conviction, brother.
I'm an East Texas kid myself. Born in Dallas, but nearly every weekend was spent in those red dirt woods visiting cousins, my grandparents, aunts and uncles from Trinidad to Eustace, Palestine to Rusk, Lufkin and Nacogdoches, too.
@tropicaldoodad Thanks so much for that, and yes, I'm English and I've never been out of Europe but I have felt the vibe of many places through listening to music.
I grew up in Longview, 20 miles from Gilmer. I lived in Austin, TX 21 years and had to come back in 2006...long story. I learned to drive on the same red clay back roads...even fell on my face trying to get my car un-stuck from that clay that was everywhere...including one's phyche. ..thick and sticky. It's still there, and I love it and hate it, and wish I was still living in Austin...mostly.
I grew up in East Texas and moved to Arizona in my 40's. As much as I was misunderstood myself and longed to see the ocean, the memories of East Texas always choke me up. Thanks for this wonderful cover of a song that always makes me cry. Great music
I don't know much about Michelle Shocked to be honest (I shouldn't admit this, should I?) - nice song anyway and you sing and play with a lot of confidence - enjoyed lots!

Not a bad cover. This and Anchorage are my favorites. I think you did her justice.
