well if you look at his rookie year he used illegal sticks all year long..but the NHL then changed the rule of curves for ovechkin so he could use what he did back in europe..which was an even bigger curve than what he used in his rookie year. so everything becomes way easier for a guy like ovechkin. Increased curve allows Ovechkin to put more velocity on his already hard shot, launch the puck higher from close range, and control it better in traffic. NHL is doing everything they can to help him

an increased curve doesnt increase velocity. the flex of the stick and the how the player shifts his weight determines the velocity. more curve does help with toe drags and other moves similar. but over all stick handling it makes it more difficult due to the back hand being curved and having less room for the puck to rest easily.but what about all of ovechkins low 5 hole goals? he has just as many of those as he does top cheese snipes.
