Alright children its time for the main reason of why it would be dumb for Larry Silverstein to destory his own building. Larry Silverstein only earned 4.6 billion in insurance money. The rebuilding cost, as of April 2006 cost him 6.3 billion. He had to pay 770 million to get this rebuilding done. He also had to pay 130 million dollars each month otherwise he wouldn't have the right to rebuild WTC 7. So add this total to the insurance and you'll see he didn't gain money.
