All of the "violent" passages are found in the Old Testament, and are always in reaction to violence against the Israelites. You might not be a terrorist or have any desire to kill anyone, but the fact remains that the Koran does tell believers to "lie in wait" and kill Christians, Jews and anyone else who does not worship Allah. I really don't know how anyone can read the Koran, especially the last half, and come away thinking that Islam is a peaceful religion.

Have you read the bible? It's normally best to read any book you are critiqueing. All of the "violent" passages are found in the Old Testament, and are always in reaction to violence against the Israelites. Furthermore the "violence" is always in a prayer asking God to do it - it never tells believers to kill or maim anyone... unlike the Koran.
Plus find one quote from Jesus promoting violence.

it seems like for most americans, the words islam and terrorism go together. if a muslim kills someone, hes an islamic extremist. if a white guy kills someone, he's just a crazy white guy. you're scared of what you don't understand, and thats the problem with the modern world and islam - i'm athiest before anyone says anything.

People understand quite well: dictatorial laws, beheadings, stonings, amputations, acid attacks, knife attacks, plane attacks, shootings, burnings, "honor" killings, women being abused, scorned and dominated, anti-semitism...and the lack of peaceful muslims protesting (not!) it all.

@Phaserz a white guy kills following his instincts or because of his character or cirumstance a muslim kills because theres a killing thought behind it from the koran. thats why people are afraid because not matter if a person is a radical muslim or good muslim he will follow koran and if koran itself asks you to kill the infidels or the unbelivers in koran then you cannot differentiate good muslims and radical muslims.

@koolshylesh that's like saying they have different brains. would that mean that since God had instructed the jewish people to kill every man, woman and child in one part of the Bible that "chosen" people would kill because it's their right to? look at your facts, look at the books. it never directly says to kill infidels, but that is an interpretation. Also the prophet Muhammad said that if you hurt a non-muslim that it is alike to hurting him. most muslims would be deeply offended by that.

@Phaserz oh they do. A moderate muslim is not big in his faith. A true muslim is a killer. coming from a converted Christan former bosnian muslim. I learned through the war and saw. And when I was little my iman told us to treat them like dogs. It wasnt until we were turned on also by the radicals on bosnia and slaughtered too. By the way my family was part of republic of western bosnia. An area during the war that was full of moderate muslims who were all killed by the radicals. Reasearch
