Man, they were SO far ahead of their time, it's just sick. True innovators. Daft Punk really have nothing on them because EVERYTHING of Kraftwerk's was completely original and a lot of their basslines and beats are STILL being sampled by artists today (i.e. starting at 0:54). Not to say Daft Punk aren't innovative and amazing too, but they HAVE sampled dozens of songs.
MAN, I had already seen this video some time ago, but I hadn't noticed Fritz Hilpert BANGING AWAY the drum pads! This performance has a real hard rock feel.
Fritz Hilpert, who is my favourite Drummer, played the Drums only during the first leg of the tour in July 1991live. In later live shows in the 1990s the drums were only played during The Model and partly during Computerlove and Radioactivity live. For the other songs he used the sequenzer. But you can also see Fritz Hilpert drumming live in the Bologna 1990 video.
The oldest recording with the vocoder intro is also the Amsterdam 1976 audio recording, which has got a great soundquality, but I know, that this vocoder intro was also used during the September 1975 gigs in UK.
Didn't Fernando Abrantes get sacked for dancing about too much?

I love the Bologna 1990 concert! The early "Mix-ed" versions of Musique Non Stop and The Robots are stunning! AND there's Karl Bartos still there!

I don't know, how Robots and Music non stop are soundin in 1990. Maybe, you can upload them here. My Bologna 1990 recording ends during Autobahn.

See the video response I've posted!

@bessadale Yes he's a good drummer! I'd like to see this element brought back to future live shows

Sounds like the opening track on the live-cd by Daft Punk.

You mean Daft Punk sounds like Kraftwerk.

Aham, Daft Punk sounds like Kraftwerk. And this electronic voice in the opening is used since their 1976 concerts.

Wasn't this vocoder intro used since september 1975?
technik56 2 years ago
Maybe, but the oldest recording I have of this vocoder intro is from a 1976 concert in Amsterdam.

The 1991 live version of computerworld is the best version i heard of this song. Better than the live 1990 version. Great!
