  • I watched this in German class today, it was amazing.

  • you know which of the four climbers I felt worse for? The first Austrian one that died. I don't know why but I do! :(

  • *Yawns*

  • is this tony kurtz

  • amazing story. amazing movie.

  • k2 is technically more difficult.

  • @boomchakalaka0 oh really? what a clever kid, k2: 8611m, eiger: 3970m, that alone makes it more difficult, don't you think? nevertheless when we talk of climbing instead of mountaineering the eiger nordwand still is one of the most challenging and dangerous routes, having claimed more than 60 dead and counting. hence its nickname: mordwand meaning murder face. but thanks for the enlightening information.

  • @boomchakalaka0 no need to be rude, just wanted to make clear the difference in case you don't know

  • Watch the beckoning silence, it's all on YouTube and a MUCH more accurate account of the story. Better made in general :)

  • What an amazing movie..German movie making at its best! Hats of to the movie makers, it is spell binding.

I come from a land where moving making is anything but. Stupid story lines repeated over and over again..yes i am talking about Bollywood. Yes a few movies stand out but mostly it is mind numbingly boring. You have to see a movie of this class to learn about movie making.

  • If Germany can make a excellent movie like this without the predictable nudity, fourletter words and another car chase why can't Hollywood?

  • @Flickchaser

That's because American's have long been attuned to the rhythms of a plastic society that worships materialism and immediate gratification above all else. Shit, most American's don't know squat about the history of their own country.

In 1938 A daring American expedition to K-2 led by C. Houston made it to over 8000 meters (600 meters from the summit) before being turned back by weather and mishap....In America no one cared. How pathetic! And that is coming from an American

  • effing good movie

  • I cried.

  • I am from Germany I was skiing at near eigernordwand

    glad you like

  • Most dramatic and thrilling film evaaaar

  • WHAT IS 15,000 FEET .... we`re in 2011 already, we have a perfect exact system, we don`t have to use our body parts to measure things !! ... grrrr

  • everyone who loves mountain should see this film

  • top notch....

  • hey this movie actually looks good, i was looking for jackets but i guess ill watch this movie now LOL

  • Excellent film 5 star.

  • It's an excellent film!

  • @dppmx3 i am tempted to agree with you but when you have a generic name like 'dppmx3' and you account has been closed, i cant help but feel you aren't actually a person but an advertise trying to be all sneaky.

  • i saw that movie yesterday, nice movie.

    but, it's a sad story

  • P.S - unpisulo87 is a complete vegetable

  • Beckoning silence much better. Tho loved this film, despite it's fictional aspects. Wish the writers never felt the urge to create Tonys 'long lost past girlfriend' who NEVER existed. If I die like this, hope some writer doesn't include some horse lookin ex involved in my last 72 hours. Peace.

  • ...and its also a clothes brand (jackets mostly, kinda expensive)

  • joe simpsons documentary about the Eiger and Toni kurtz is really good, very sad, it is on youtube as well, 'The Beckoning Silence'

  • Anyone knows in which mountain these two fellas were climbing wo? (im talking about first one at the beginning of the movie)

  • I had the privelege of skiing the Jungfrau region and that included a chance to ski the black diamond run on the Eiger glacier (opposite side from the North face obviously) so it was exciting to see this movie produced. While there I had chance to read the history of the climbers and was always wondering why nothing other than the crap "Eiger Sanction" was made on this ominous beast of a rock.

So happy such a fine film OUTSIDE of Hollywood was made.

My Eiger (Ogre) ski pin I treasure always.

  • @300minus try skiing on the North face next time! lol

  • This is probably the best movie of the year. I was truly amazed at it. Pure perfection on every level. And it was NOT Hollywood. And it got snubbed by the "Academy Awards"......

  • I am an American, this movie is was stunning. Dull at moments, but always seemed to keep the atmosphere that the team was going into a very dangerous situation. It portrayed what sometimes life throws at you by being a man, and a woman as well. Romantic at times as well, and I am not the romance type. One of my favorite movies of the year.

  • One of the best movies I have seen, but is also pretty sad.

  • This was a great movie, its sad that so many people had to die climbing it.

  • all i care is that this film is good quality and no sci fi cheap quality.. ill comment back if its good, watching it on netflix at the moment.

  • the new video ...favorit

  • one of the best movies i've watched

  • It seams like a good movie ..

  • this film is sooooooo good

  • K2, also known as Godwin Austin, is considered the worlds toughest mountain to climb, it is also the worlds second highest peak. It is familiarly called The Savage Mountain and is arguably the hardest climb in the world. 49 climbers have died on K2, 22 whilst descending from the summit.

  • sixty-four climbers have died attempting the north face,

  • @ericssson really? from first glance, it looks harmless! :O :)

  • oh.. sad movie? nothing for me then ^^

  • umpisuoli87: Haha! Now you're kind of stupid.. It's the north face of the Eiger, it has nothing to do with where the country is ;)

  • its the north face of Eiger, one of the hardest climbs around.

  • dude, what are you talking about ?

  • Lo siento tio pero tu eres tonto

    I´ll teel you in english:

    Sorry dude but you´re stupid

  • Anyone know if this movie is available on DVD in North American format?

  • good movie true story sad ending just 2 things i didnt like first it was those 2 austrians that got them in trouble in the first place dont agree that they join them when they could easily go all the way just the two of them and the thing that pissed me off the most the girl at the end could told him that she loved him i mean shouted out maybe after hearing those words he might have found some energy to grab the rope never underestimate the power of love.

  • Ive just come from watching this at the movies for the film festival and it is one of the best movies ive seen in agews. I was on my seat the whole time. Sad story though. But certanly a must watch

  • @dppmx3 u were on your seat the whole time wow i thought people usually stand when watching films !

  • i saw this yesterday the ending is really sad

  • seem to be a nice movie, eiger nordwand is a beautiful mountain

  • Great movie despite the sad story, cannot wait for the DVD/BlueRay to become available.
