  • like this quite a bit. especially the beginning. the middle gets a bit poppy but love the duet. ann's voice is not as pure as before, but she uses it well with EJ. glad they sang it together! that song someone was trying to figure out may have been "nobody home" or "allies" from the mid 80s.

  • I'm one of those people who usually doesn't like covers, but I think this one is great.

  • If I weren't on Paxel and I could come and I would have come...

  • Not come across her before and I LOVE this version. Great voice! Given this Elton track a new lease of life.

  • I don't believe this can be called a 'cover' as the original artist & co-writer is singing on it, more a new version, whatever you want to call it this is fantastic! Anns voice has gone from strength to strength over the years as has Elton's. Take the track for what it is..... A great one!!

  • GREAT! GREAT! AARRRRTTTTIIISSSSTTTT My Dear

Unbelievable Performance by a lady that can do it all and proves it night and day!

    Love, Linus Redding

  • Thank You

  • Her voice hasn't changed... other then only got better. How does she doit? ANN YOU"RE AMAZING! Gorgeous and the reason I became a musician. Love you ANN and NANCY!

  • truly one of the greatest singers in the world. An awsome talent. Please tour the Uk Heart!! great song choice .

  • do you remember any of the lyrics? there was a song Nancy sang around that time called "All For Love" from the soundtrack to Say Anything - that's more rare - and most rare from that era was Ann & Nancy's cover of the Beatles' Sit Down I Think I love You - also a few years before Ann had a minor hit with Best Man In the World - those are everything I could think of. everything else was on Bad Animals or Brigade

  • I'm hoping someone can help me figure out a particular ANN WILSON song that came out in or prior to the summer of 1990. I worked at a bank and they had one of those slow stations on and it was 'alwaaaaaaaaays on' so im thinking it was either a fave of the station OR it was semi new. if anyone knows of any BALLADS that came out near that time frame PLEASE let me know of names of some songs so i can search. i thought maybe it was this but its slower and really gorgeous. thanks in advance!

  • It was probably "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You"

  • Surrender To Me - a duet with Robin Zander that was not a Heart song - Richard Marx write it - was that it?

  • Nope. none of those. this was a song that was really never heard or played. I heard the song on an adult comtemporay station in the spring of 90. that was the last time i heard it played. have not heard this song since. i've been looking for it ever since. it's not a popular song. I just can't believe its this hard to find. but now i dont know if its Ann or nancy that sang it or with another person. wracking my brain over here.. uugggg

  • Maybe the song "Secret" or "I Didn't Want To Need You" ? Both of these songs were released from the Brigade album in and around 90. "Secret" is a wonderful song but didn't get as much play.

  • Could it be "Will You Be There In The Morning"? Ann didn't sing this one thou, Nancy did.

  • It could have been "Almost Paradise" from Dirty Dancing, or "Alone".

  • We love you Ann......we wish you the best.....waht a great duet with Elton.....WOOOT!

  • Ann's voice has changed some, but she's still fabulous and beautiful and I LOVE that she covered this terrific song. It's up at her MySpace, too. Thanks!

  • Oh, geez, Elton is in here, too. Ann's voice is pure but paired up with a legend, well....

  • Annie is a goddess!

  • The first time I heard this piece was on an 8 track player. I love this version. She is incredible.

Wow! have not heard this song in 25 years.

    Happy New Year my Friend

    Dave.

  • Wow. Wow. Ann Wilson---superb. And with Elton? Unreal. Shivvers up the spine!

  • Speechless...!

  • Amazing song!

I still prefer the original but I'm still stunned by this interpretation.

  • what the heck i didn't know Elton John was in here? nice! well, it was nice before he made his entrance too! ann and nancy did an excellent live rendition of mona lisas and mad hatters, it's out here somewhere.

  • On the Elton John 60th birthday version of this on Youtube, Elton dedicates this song to Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. I always found their love for Elton's music to be kind of sweet for some reason (maybe because I share it?)

  • Ann's voice, like EJ, have changed to make this a bluesy, raspy version. A great update.

  • @luangu

the blues makes it bad. what a complete waste and failuire for ann wilson to make something like this.

ann and nancy are not interesting in making music that sounds good anymore. they are trying to prove something but i don't know what.

this is just about the only bearable song on the cd but the music on this song is still dull scat.

  • @The096757 Scat? I didn't know 4chan was doing music reviews now.

  • One of the most haunting songs ever written. Cannot seem to get my head around this version. Good parts, but... oh, I don't know!

  • I'm not against covers (ej has done some good ones too.. there was an album full of them I have somewhere.. chartbusters I think it was called?!?!) but I did not enjoy this at all.... but I cant stop listening to it, so what does that mean?.... am I nuts? ;)

  • Yes, you are nuts.

    Nah...just kidding ^.^ I'm sure you're perfectly sane...?

Music is all about personal preference, so maybe if you're a big Elton John fan, it's just hard to "deviate from the original" and listen to someone else perform his songs. Who knows? Personally, I like this version a lot, and I hope that you'd at least give it a chance before making your final judgements.

  • @danielleburch9893 This one of my fav Elton and Bernie songs so it was hard for me to even give this a chance but I'm glad I did. This is not disappointing. Thanks for the upload.

  • The album full of Elton John covers that I have is called "Two Rooms" (maybe there are others, but this is the first/only one I know of)

  • Unlike those who decry cover versions as if the original is somehow sacrosanct I revel in famous songs being done with a new approach. This is great. What a fantastic contralto voice.

  • Very interesting analysis ;)

Yeah, Ann Wilson is pretty amazing!

  • Thanks for posting this I had no idea Elton John dueted with her on this...

I have a version I performed of this song on my channel.

  • This one of my favorate songs. way to go Ann and Elton.

  • I agree ^^

This is one of two of my favorite songs off the album :)
