  • i get guitar rig to come up but it wont let me add the effect

  • thank you very much dude!

  • Oh shit, can't I just record at the moment I'm playing something eith the right disortion etc? It's all so tiring...

  • Thanks man!

  • i manage to follow the step but where is the OK button right after you select the effect from Guitar rig?

  • @kleydj13, sorry I forgot to mention, I downloaded Guitar Rig therefor I don't really have the thing you got in 0:15, so does it matter?

  • @kleydj13, is it possible to record with those stuff? An electric guitar connected to a PC's mic place using the cable, but without the use of an amp between these 2? So it's like Guitar>>PC's mic plug, instead of Guitar>>Amp>>PC's mic plug. Does the sound work or no?

  • WTF thats my exact laptop i have lol

  • @DazedConfused1969 OOH YOU thougth u were the only one?

  • @RCThales lol you have one too

  • @DazedConfused1969 yes ;p

  • @RCThales you have do you one to one have to do?

  • @DazedConfused1969 whaaaaaaaaaaat??

  • THUMBS UP FOR YOU MAN!!

  • Thank for video Now I can record my Electric Guitar :D

  • @XxZone47xX - You bet man, good luck!

  • asdsds

thank you very much mate =D

  • hey man is it possible to record with just a guitar, amp, and auxiliary cable? if so what settings do you use (for the betta)?

  • @x19nguyen92x - You will need a little more than that. You'll either need a mic to put in front of the amp. Or some amps have a direct out that you could connect straight into the computer. If you go with the mic you'll need a preamp and a interface to convert the signal from analog to digital. I did a video on that - It's called 'How to record electric guitar for a beginner'. However you connect to your pc, in audacity go to the preferences menu and make sure you select the right input.

  • I cant see the ok button anywhere on my screen?

  • @AdamChupatty Every1 who has the "cant find okay button" problem .. CTRL + Enter :D

  • can i do this without youre foot?

  • @Corruptedxxx nope. I tried.

  • Dude i have installed the VST plugins, i cant get my guitar rig working with it, do i hve to do something to make the VST's work???

  • the song that you played.... is that the refrain from you shook me all night long by acdc?

  • I got 2 50£ mics, a mixpanel with 10 mic inputs (both big jacks and 3 pin jacks) and a aux and rec out on it. but how can i use those outputs for my pc? im currently using the phones output and plug it into a mic jack on the pc, but it just sounds crap, even with a HD sound input at 192khz. Anyway, i've also got a tv tuner on my pc with a stereo sound input incase im using like a hd tv box or a satelite tv box. I can plug aux cables in the mixpanel into stereo jacks in the tv tuner, but wont work

  • the song is "Down" from Pearl Jam ha? :D

  • My friend I got a new computer Hp dv7 4280us with windows 7 it has a microphone built in and this is a problem for me since I use an usb interface tascam us-100 so that way I need to disable the microphone built in how to do that it makes a problem for me while recording some noise!

  • how can i save my recordin in audacity in mp3 or wav format cuz i cant save in a different than "aup" anybody knows

  • @ercspy - You can export to wav. It is in the 'file' menu. You can also export to mp3 with a plugin. It in on the Audacity wiki page.

  • @ercspy you can save it as an mp3 by installing the plug in called LAME mp3 encoder. you can find it right there in the audacity web page

  • can u have ur amp as part the connection so u can hear wat ur recording instead recording with no amp?

  • I seem to have a problem with my Guitar Rig 4. When I try to play my guitar via Guitar Rig, it sounds really quiet and I have to put the volume way up just to hear it. Would you happen to know why or be able to help me with this please? I'd REALLY appreciate it. :[

  • @OhMyTofu - What are you using for your connection to your computer? You may need a preamp and interface. The preamp will boost your level and the interface will convert it from an analog signal to digital. Check out the ART Studio preamp and the Line 6 toneport interface.

  • I have tried recording with audacity by connecting my guitar to my amp to my pc but i get static .....would that guitar rig interface(blackbox) thing you have help and be better than doing the other ?? if yes where can I get one? please help!?

  • @chinesefoo13 - I'm not sure how it would work with your amp, if it has a USB out it may work... Yes a recording interface would definitely work. You should be able to go to guitar center or a best buy that has musical instruments and get an interface for less than $200. I've heard decent things about the line 6 toneport and they're pretty cheap.

  • cant you just turn your guitar on?it sounds like this...

  • can sombody help meeeee, everything works, but when i have everything highlighted the okay button isnt there, it inst even hidden, its not there!!!!

  • How to get that selection here? 2:10 I have audacity and guitar rig 3 also I did just as you said enable the plugins ?

  • @realjuvelive - You may have to refresh Audacity's vst plugin selection. See my reply video.

  • Thanks!!! Been playing guitar for years.. but am a complete beginner with all of this.

  • hey dude!!

i was wondering if guitar rig would work with my m-audio fast track pro

    thanks!!

  • @XChrisxRubiX - Should work great, just make sure you have it selected as your input device.

  • @kleydj13 is it possible to use some program as a amp with effects and distortion, i just spent all my money on a guitar and i dont have a amp :\ but i do have a cable 2.5mm - guitar

  • @thespartenkid - I think amplitube 3 has a free version, check that out - its killer!

  • is this how?

    vst enabler

    guitar ri.dll in plugins folder

    start audacity

record? or do we have to start guitar rig also?

  • @yugiohfrancis - Yup, when you record your track you add the guitar rig as an effect to the dry track. You can open guitar rig if you want to hear how it would sound with the effect as you play, but starting guitar rig will have no effect on your recording in audacity.

  • Okay, I've got the full version now, and followed this tutorial again, and now it's working! THANKS!!!!!

  • Thanks for the video!

But, I can't seem to find any .dll files in my Guitar Rig 3 folder?! I understand, that I need to copy the files over to Audacity, but I don't see any dll files.

Can you help me out? Thanks a bunch!

  • @Kath666 - Have you tried searching your directory? Have you looked throughout the entire guitar rig folder?

  • @kleydj13

I went through all the maps and searched the pc also.

It turns out I got the LE version. Maybe thats the problem

  • @Kath666 C:/Program Files/Native Instruments/Guitar Rig 3/VSTPLUGINS

assuming you installed it as default then it should be here

  • What is your laptop? and what is the best to use in that stuff desktop or laptop?

  • @realjuvelive - It was an aging IBM. It kind of depends on how deep you want to get into the software. If you are rocking multi tracks with an assortment of modelling software and vst plugins you are going to want a pretty powerful desktop (generally desktops are beefier than laptops) but if you're just messing around with one guitar and guitar rig you'd be fine with something less than stellar.

  • THANKS A LOT man !! I was looking for THIS tutorial !

  • @Banks94 - I'm glad I could help!

  • in the next vid wear first pants and then record :P

  • @t0ouan what do you mean? nothing wrong with this!

  • the native instruments effect isnt showing up even though i installed the plug in thing

  • i foud the solution bro, if someone has the same problem tell him to open the guitar rig file and there or inside the crack is a file with the name "guitar rig 4.dll" copy that and then paste it inside the audacity's plugins file. it works . thanks for ur time man

  • You are pluging the gutiar into the PC with an USB Adapter or with normal cable?!

  • @borjan121 - Both. I run the cable out of my guitar into my Native Instruments Guitar Rig session I/O interface. That has a USB connection to my PC.

  • @kleydj13 Is there a way to plug the guitar onto the PC with just the normal cable?

  • @omonoiatis8 - Your computer probably has a 3.5mm TRS mic input while your guitar has a 1/4" cable. You'd need some sort of converter plug, which you could get at radio shack or best buy.

  • Asso....instead of taking so long for applying just a miniscule effects, u should hve done quickly...wasted my time.

  • did you directly plug your guitar into your computer? or through a amp

  • @AdamPwnsMusic - Direct on this one, no amp involved.

  • Hi. I'd like some advice: I have an adaptor for my guitar chord and it goes right through my mic input so I can record guitar directly to my computer via audacity. I have messed around with the audio settings on both volume control and in audacity along with the dials on my guitar and nothing seems to keep it from getting distorted and clipping. It goes from being ok to like if I had put the "waah waah" setting on it. HELP PLEASE!!!!! Thanks

  • Thanks for this video. It's been really helpful. Cheers.

  • @Chriscoxonismyname - You're welcome, I'm glad it helped you out!

  • I get gain ass hell. sounds like it gonna kill my speakers.. gotta tinker with it a little i guess

  • @mas111 - Are you running any overdrive pedals before the link hits your interface? If so make sure you're actually applying some sort of amp/speaker model. All my recordings sound really ratty and gainy before I apply the speaker cab sim.

  • Hey man! THANK YOU!!! But i have a question...Can you edit and paste other guitar tracks?? in a recording? Thx man!

  • @OfficialMisery Beacause im in a band and need to record!

  • @OfficialMisery - Yeah, check out the Audacity help guide

  • @kleydj13-i found it. :) still cant record and monitor at the same time though!! Any ideas?

  • @mikemk100 - You can open Guitar Rig as a standalone application and use the same preset you plan on applying in Audacity.

  • dude.....no ok button.....cant select a preset...help!

  • @mikemk100 - see the reply in the description

  • Lot of thanks kleydj13. I can finally record my songs.

  • @031601913 - You're welcome! Have fun with it, it's a pretty sweet program.

  • I tried doing it, but it won't show up in the effects tab.

  • @EvenL33tland - see my response video

    at youtube.com/watch?v=CXaARK_l31g

  • Where the hell is okay button..!!!?? i hav guitar rig 4 demo..(cracked)

  • @ninjaduderantaro ill be fucked if i can find it!!!! let me know if you do.....please

  • @mikemk100 - see the reply in the description

  • @ninjaduderantaro - see the reply in the description

  • Can you also record the guitar while the effects and cabs etc are enables so you hear them while recording....

  • @stevoe1000 - Just open guitar rig separately from Audacity. Then when you apply the preset post-recording make sure it was the same one you listened to while recording.

  • I just downloaded the plug in of GTR solo and Audacity. I downloaded the Enabler and make sure it was in the correct fine and then I added a VST plug-in from GTR, but it hasn't worked. How can I use the plug-in in Audacity?

  • Hey dude does this work with Guitar rig 4 pro?

  • usb interface ? 0:14

  • can I make the maximum of the amplitude of the wave bigger? the wave's range is only -1 to 1. when I play, not even loud, the wave constantly reaches the max on both sides.. this makes it sound annoying..

  • Hi, when it all seems to work, cheers, HOWEVER, using this method my recording is like 1 second delayed? is yours?

  • hey dude i just wanna hear my guitar sound while recording can i

  • @frightman91 - I do that by keeping guitar rig open separately from audacity. Then when you're done you apply the same amp model you were just using to your dry signal

  • I suck how to do that exactly ?? 1:13 VST ?

  • Hey Im recording my electric guitar straight to the computer how do I get a clear sound? mine is all buzzy and sounds distorted. Do I need guitar rig as a plug in to help that and what is guitar rig

  • @BboyKamikrazee yeh same, im getting the same problem >.<

  • is there a way to make the guitar sound in the speakers WHILE playing? while recording

  • @kawabanga95 - Yeah, just keep a window of Guitar Rig open with the same patch you plan on using for the post-recording edit.

  • @kleydj13 If you got time, could you make a video for it? never used the programm before and i don't want to mess with any settings. I just wondered because in this video there was no sound when you were recording, only when you played it back. I would appreciate it :)

  • Can you make effects like compression delay EQ ect.?

  • @realjuvelive - Yup, Guitar rig has approximately four boatloads of effects check their website for specifics

  • @kleydj13 for vocal !?

  • For those who have problms with the hidden button, just copy again the dll. file of GR4 to audacity "plugins" foldr. It worked for me...

  • i click on the guitar rig 4 in the effects and i just get some window with sliders and values... no interface...

  • I have that computer! lol T42 ThinkPad?

  • i downloaded audicity 1,3 beta unicode and downloaded the vst enabler and copied it in the plugins folder and it only showed an other 2 effecs...but not this.do i have to download the unzip file and copy it in the plugins folder?because i downloaded the exe.do i have to doqnload them both and copy them in the plugins folder?.and do you really need guitar rig 3 for this?

  • i downloaded audicity 1,3 beta unicode and downloaded the vst enabler and copied it in the plugins folder and it only showed an other 2 effecs...but not this.do i have to download the unzip file and copy it in the plugins folder?because i downloaded the exe.do i have to doqnload them both and copy them in the plugins folder?

  • 2.28...press ok... Where?

  • @PulexIrritanz - mine is kind of hidden at the bottom right of the screen, I can see the top of the button, but not the whole thing. One button is canel, the other is okay. I had the same problem when I first tried it, it took me forever to find it.

  • @kleydj13 I found it...eventually :) Something with the size of GR4...Thanks for your response!

  • Where can i download the plugin??? I know how to do it but the vst-plugin for audacity/guitar rig 4 can't be found anywhere?...

  • What's the difference between plugging the guitar with usb like Behringer UCG102

or just using cable and small adapter ?

  • @realjuvelive - Its just a higher quality Analog-Digital converter. If you have a nice soundcard the difference may be minimal. If you've got a stock mass produced audio card then you may want to seek out an interface, depending on how high of sound quality you want.

  • Um well I have

    1-classical guitar

    2-cable 1/4

    3-mono adapter 6.3mm 3.5mm

    4-computer of course!

    is that useful?

  • @realjuvelive - You could try running that into the mic jack on your pc. That should work.

  • Hey there what do I need exactly to record my own music and connect my guitar to computer ?

  • @realjuvelive - you need some sort of analog to digital conversion device. I use an interface - the Native Instruments Guitar Rig Session I/O which accepts XLR (mic input) and 1/4" (guitar cable) and communicates with my computer. Line 6 also makes some interfaces that are a solid beginner choice - Toneport UX1. If you're running straight from your guitar into an interface you may also want a preamp. I'd suggest the ART MP Studio for something simple and cheap.

  • Hey nice video but what is the best to use ?

    1- guitar rig ?

    2- audacity ?

  • @realjuvelive - I use them in conjuction together. I like the flexibility of using Audacity to edit and configure the audio file. I then apply guitar rig as a plug in. You have more flexibility to adjust the audio as you wish, and there are lots of great free open source amp/cab/effects available that can be used as well. You can record internally in Guitar Rig, but there are lots of limitations.

  • will this work if say instead of your interface you use to plug your guitar into your computer, can i plug my guitar into a line 6 amp (which has a line out jack) and plug that into the microphone input on my computer? or plug my amps line out into a recording device which can be used as an external mic, which plugs into my computer with a usb cable?

  • I don't know where to get the VST source (VSTBrigde.dll) or how to install it. Steinbergs page is really confusing. Downloading and installing that "plug-in" from Audacity's page didn't do anything. Help?

  • @TheFunny2250

You can do that, although that defeats the purpose of guitar rig. You will need a simple guitar link, which are 20-40$. Or you can possibly buy input jack to usb cables, which i personally havent tried, but they do seem to be a fair bit cheaper.

  • @fitbiach it works better with a multi effects pedal if you dont have rig kontrol it levels the input its like a preamp

  • i tried that using guitar rig 4 and it didn't work! would you know why?

  • i got a question, do i have to connect with the guitar rig session? because i don't got that but i got the softwares. and i cant click the "Native instruments..." in the Effects options. please help! thank you.

  • @TheFunny2250 - I have no idea what "my pedal" means, but you need some sort of ASIO device to connect your guitar to your computer

  • thanks for ur tut! got it working :)

  • hello i have a question for you: how can i listen in real time what i am recording?

    please help me !!

  • @nikitofin earphones....maybe

  • @nikitofin - put headphones in the output jack of your interface

  • If you are having trouble finding the OK button, adjust the window size to medium or small in the options menu. This should fix the Guitar Rig 4 problems people have been having.

  • Thank you man : ) youre awesome ;]

  • Is guitar rig 3 free?

  • @Seagerash NO.

  • Comment removed

  • could you please state that it is enter/return, there is no OK key.

  • I got to the step where I downloaded the VST enabler, then I restart audacity, go to effects, and native instruments software synthesis isn't there.

  • am i able to just plug my guitar straight into the computer or do i need something else to do it with thanks

  • could i make it into a death metal tone

  • Where Does IT say ok To Import The GUitar Rig Preset Into Audicity. I record my stuff Open Up Guitar Rig Through The Effects Folder. It Comes up and Everything. So i click on the preset i want to Use. Then i am Stuck. How Do i Get It imported. There Is No OK Button

  • @sheldonHoyle - its down below the amp/cab, mine is a little hidden, but its down there to the right

  • @kleydj13 I'm having the same problem. Mine was hidden like yours, but now it's just gone. I don't know what to do.

  • @hardvark360 Well It just now came back so I have no idea what is going on...

  • @kleydj13

The Reason Why i could Not Find is was Because i am Using Guitar Rig 4. But i got Guitar rig 3. And when i put Guitar Rig.dll Into Audicity It Won;t work :(. When i go to the Fx i cant find Gutiar rig 3 at All.

  • Yes. I Have It All Working. But After i Open Up Guitar Rig And Get The Preset Open ready To Import. Where Does It Say ok So It Imports It Into Audicity. It's Stupid.

  • Awesome video man

  • works in the same way as a plug in for all these types of programs using vst. Mind you why you would want to record to audacity is beyond me, too simple and not in anyway suitable for song recording ... I only use it to slow tracks down

  • need a bit of help.

ive done exactly what you said in this tut (great tut btw)

but when i go to send it to GR, it asks me whether i want to use the Demo or to Activate it. when i have activated it a while ago. Is it beause i'm using GR4 or just a general problem with it?

  • Hey im having some trouble, i have the guitar rig interface, and im trying to record to audacity, but when i try to record, nothing is picked up by audacity, how do i get the sound from the guitar rig interface into audacity ?

  • I need some help, i cant see guitar rig on the audacity effect list, how do I include guitar rig on the effect list on the audacity? please reply T_T

  • why dont you just use guitar rig as a standalone program? i find it much easier

  • @jesusvalles54 - Can you record with GR as a standalone? I was unable to do that so I had to figure out how to make it work with Audacity. I often use it alone when I'm just playing around.

  • @kleydj13 you just have to sync up both the tape decks and press record on the first tape deck and then it wil transfer to the second tape deck and then you save it where it shows the floppy disk icon

  • @kleydj13 you can record with guitar rig, you need to use the tape deck function to do it. Gets a bit confusing when you think about the fact that you have pre and post amp stages buuuut you can do it. Good for recording licks and riffs when something just hits you and you need something to record with fast :)

  • thx man :D

  • sound like julian smith

  • help! i can't open my audacity when i installed the guitar rig 4? any solution?i tried to re-install the adacity but it shows me the same problem.

  • THANKS MEN IT REALLY HELPS!! :D

  • are you playing You Shook Me All Night Long??

  • do you have amp ? by the way can i get guitar rig 3 or4 for free ?

  • where is the "OK" button on the guitar rig plug in? I can't find it

  • NICE FOOT

  • You can only add the guitar sounds after? You can't just record it with the sound without having to do the raw track first?

  • sorry man but i have the same problem as bramnokia

  • Comment removed

  • hey can you use guitar rig without the "session i/o" interface? just with a direct line in to the mic jack on the computer?

  • Sorry man, but I just don't know. I've never tried it. I don't know if you could use Guitar Rig as it seems to require an ASIO device, whatever that means.

You could probably still record the dry guitar track and apply the Guitar Rig through Audacity to the final product.

  • @1996markopolo ~ Hey dude, yeah you can do that. The sound might not be great though. The behringer guitar link is pretty cheap and it gives you a great ASIO driver and really cleans things up

  • hey man, what do you use to connect the guitar to your laptop?
