  • Thanks for the info. It does make sense that the lines aren't electric, given the initial outlay. Maybe once the ridership increases, they'll consider it.

  • With all that traffic, why are there only two tracks? And why aren't the commuter trains electric? Wouldn't that be more cost-effective?

  • @yarmo28 1st, there's 2 tracks because there's a road on one side, & a parking lot on the other. 2ndly, the majority of the trains that go through here are faster than 125 mph, so the tracks are open much quicker than a mainline with a speed limit of 60 mph for example. The MBTA trains are maintained by the state (I think) & electric engines cost some money. Also, there are no other lines on the MBTA other than the Providence line that are electrified, so it wouldn't make sense to buy them.

  • afternoon with the trains!....i like that!

  • At exactly 7:30 , you can see that you caught Aem-7 #952! That engine is supposed to be on the Keystone line.

  • How come all the trains had the front pantographs up for the lead engines

  • I Know The Csx Keeps Coming And It Also There Is A Lot Of Cars Thats Why Its Long To Wait For The Commuter Rail Train.

  • The Trains Can Be Fun But Also Dangerous The Aclea Is Always Fasy

  • cool.

  • Do you know why MBTA doesn't use electrical power on this line?

  • There are a few sections of this track that does not have overhead wires. Such as attleboro station, and all trains stop there. Also for trains in Boston, track 3 isnt electrified.

  • Too much money

  • I think acela 2167 had 7 cars!

  • i did

  • this was on my birthday

  • apparenlty the csx forgot his bell and he wanted to use it so he FAKE rewinded

  • Ya lol

  • @motocrossman95

I was thinking something along the lines of training.

  • aint this was were that boy was hit by an acela express train goin 140 something like that anyway...................this video was added on my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes it is, here is what happened, he came around the corner at 141 MPH, dumped the train, smacked him at 127 mph

  • @alx2925 Where and when did that happen? Somewhere in New England I'm guessing, The Acela can't go faster than 135 south of Rhode Island...

  • when

  • awesome video action packed

  • Could you tell me the speed limits along the MBTA line from providence to boston and is there any other place to watch them like this along the line. Great vid

  • Uwielbiam koleje ze wszystkich krajów.Pozdrawiam.

  • trust me, he is he blocked me from AIM because i was using an iPod touch to IM

  • Weed lol

  • regionals can go 125!?!?! wow

  • Yes they can! Acelas go 150. LOl, Where u from? Sounds like your not use to high speed railroads

  • I live 15 min from mansfield station : )

  • OOOOOOOOOO nice :)

  • I live down the street from Mansfield :D

i wish the QUIET ZONE Rule was appealed

they dont honk their horns anymore

  • nice video

  • um, Acelas are Amtrak's, but i can see why you separated them... :) Nice video (:

  • This is a great video you put together

  • Nice. That CSX was a little bizarre, though, even though it was explained in another comment. I thought that Amtrak owned all of the NEC except the New Haven-New York part. That's why it can go so fast there.

  • Amtrak owns almost none of the NEC. The MBTA owns from Boston south to where the CT DOT takes over. Amtrak owns almost none of the track they operate on system wide, but they do provide much of the maintenance for it. For a time (not sure they still do) Amtrak controlled all operations on the NEC in MA, including the MBTA and freight operations.

  • BOSTON->MA BORDER = Massachusetts DOT

MA -> New Haven = Amtrak

New Haven -> New Rochelle JCT = MTA Metro-North

New Rochelle JCT -> Washington Union Station = Amtrak

  • Umm I never did ride in a engine

  • BEST EVER!

  • To add to that You-Tube clip, the CSX move was B735 which works M-F. They begin in Walpole and travel south on the Framingham Secondary to Mansfield Yard, make their train up and then go onto the NEC to go to the East Mansfield Industrial Park (aka "The Chocolate"), which is just east of Mansfield Station. After doing their work in the chocolate they take their empties to Attleboro where the night job picks them up.

  • What you saw in the video was they came out and the brakeman stopped the train after it cleared the hand-thrown switch, and after he had restored the switch to normal and locked it they shoved back to pick him up to save time and so he wouldn't have to walk as far. Then they headed to Attleboro and later on returned lite engine to head north to Walpole.

  • This is awesome footage. Thanks! Brings back happy memories. My cousins used to take me down to Mansfield Station to watch the trains go by when I was little. There used to be a chocolate factory nearby, and the mix of chocolate in the air and trains speeding past was intoxicating for a boy of five. I'm now a boy of forty, and I'm having just as much fun watching your video. Thank you!

  • Anytime man, glad it brought back good memories for you!

  • The chocolate factory is still in use today, and the aroma can even be smelt a couple miles after passing it on the Acelas.

  • Thanks guys!!

  • Dave and Alex,

This is excellent video! Being that close to those Acela Express trains ripping through is just unreal -- same for the Meatball-hauled trains too! Next time I come to Boston or Providence, I am gonna have to check it out in person! Keep up the great work -- but "please remain behind yellow line!" Hope the weather is better on your next trip out -- looking forward to seeing the results.

    Dave

  • looks like some pretty gloomy weather out there, but great video, lots of different trains to see :)

  • i know there is one, but the train was in a siding when i got there, once it left it, it came into the station, sat there for a min, then backed out again for 30 secs, then left the area. Im like, what the hell?????

  • are u kidding, ur from Norwood, not Mansfield.

  • Sweet video

  • ooooooooo

  • i was here 2 days ago , i saw 3 regoinals within 30 minutes :D

  • when was this vid

  • yesterday

  • i live near this station . it is so cool so see some action on film @ my local station. that was the Local CSX switching as it is going to the northern industrial zone. Great Video by the way.

  • Super job on the video man, I'm very impressed.

  • nice, I love your videos, as you can see, my screen name is hhp8, just like the locomotive.

  • One more thing, how did you record the speed of those trains?

  • using my GPS tracker

  • Ok, this is some of the best video yet. I love the feeling of an Acela passing by me and I am sure you know what I mean. You brought that feeling right to my desk with that video. None of the other videos with Acelas in them seem to compare. I wonder what that CSX was doing anyway.
