Im thinking of getting this for my fiance, have you used hollow tip in this gun? If so, has it caused any problems? She will practice with standard velocity FMJ (or round-nose) bullets however for self-defense she will pack hollow tip and thats where I'm concerned. Appreciate the info, I subscribed and thumbs up. --NightOwl
@RedSoxBowHunter try different ammo, i have found out that the particular ammo that we use, jams up the gun after around 70 shots then it jams, but all we do is cock it back and it doesnt jam up until another 70 rounds pass
@gwap4008 um sounds like you got a serious proplem, you no im not exactly an expert but i suggest you call the police he theatened you thats called terroristic threat and it can get you a restraining order where if he goes in tha same building as you he goes to jail
bought one of these yesterday and rang it out pretty good today. These are fantastic little guns totally amazing how reliable they are. I was surprised at what it can hit at even 100 yards.People who have problems with them might be tempted to use high speed rounds which probably accelerates the wear.
@Eagleguts Thanks for watching. For the money, it's a nice little gun. I'm thinking about investing in a couple of last-round-hold-open kits for my magazines in order to prolong the firing pin & barrel life of mine.
This is definitely on my buy list! I think they are great for their intended use. I think they were intended to be shot once in a while if maybe only once, then thrown in a purse, pocket, glove compartment and stored til needed. I don't think they were meant to be shooters, but even in that, they were made to handle a decent workload. Just my dumb opinion. How stupid is that, I never even held one and here I am offering opinions!
@huttwigley2 Except for the J-22 having full sights and my Sedco having trench sights they could be the same gun. I wonder if the 2 companies shared blue prints.
If you take the grip off you can bend the clip tension spring up. It only needs to go up a little then put something under it and bend it back down. its takes some trial and error and I dont know a good way to explain it but if you take a close look at what is going on in there you will see what I mean. safety will come down with the clip out and the clip will fall out like a normal gun when you hit the release. Also should not void warranty. Just bend it back before sending it in.
@jldwolfe Thanks. I've actually seen something similar done in another video. The whole "safety-magazine-release" thing doesn't bug me enough to do the actual work involved. I can live with it the way it is. :-) I want to shoot it unmodified until it breaks just so I can see how much punishment it'll take and find out how good Phoenix Arms' warranty is!
Are you shooting High Velocity Rounds through it or lower grade? The gun is not rated for Hyper Velocity or any heavy load ( Heavy Load .22 LOL ) Rounds. Willing to bed the people seeing that problem with the spring bar are shooting CCI heavier rounds consistently. Local Pawn Shop tells me they never get these guns back for service or trade backs. The only one they could remember the guy screwed up assembling it, but Phoenix still replaced it even though they knew it was his fault! COOL!
@vulpixgrant - Almost Forgot, from what I heard ( Buying one probably today myself but with Silver Finish ) At the range if you have a round in the pipe and they call cold range you can rack the slide and lock open then eject the mag. That way the weapon is clear and you don't have to eject every single round racking the slide like I've seen in other videos. Nice review BTW.
@vulpixgrant That's one way to do it! I usually just drop the mag a little bit, cycle the slide, then drop the mag all the way out. Hopefully you have the same luck with yours as I did with mine! Thanks for watching!
@FireArmsResQ Compared to some people I know who bought Sig Mosquitos and Walther P22's and had problems, I definitely got a decent gun for the money with the Phoenix HP22! I seem to have good luck with inexpensive guns! Now... Where do you get Dorritos for $1 a bag!?!?!
You're scary. Round in the chamber, cocked, and safety off..

@gwap4008 Short answer: You'd stand a better chance with a .22 than with nothing.

kind of reminds me of my Sedco Sp-22. Ugly little temperamental POS and I love it.

@Charagrin Ha! I had to Google that Sedco! It looks like my Jennings J-22!
