I agree with @MrReed1432 I own Porsches. Take exemple on GT3. Go on tracks, you will see a lot of GT3 that looks like this 951. They are modified for track. GT3 RS are for track purpose but for town too. You must however modify the car to get it into a FULL race car. Some people get their 951 to looks like clowns, but this track 951 is one of the most beautiful I ever saw.

Porsche is not a chinese or japanese car, isn't a cheap car to put all parts of the world and make a tuning car, or nfs car, 2fast car. Porsche is a show&sensation car on street, never need stupid or kitsch parts to captivate people or catching admiration. A cheap car needs some parts to stand out, stock never gain admiration. Porsche will not be inferior to a Japanese, never, even one quik.

@ochelari1 when you dont have factory backing or millions in sponsorship money anywhere you can cut costs as a racer is also a huge consideration. You have no clue how expensive it is to race, track fees, equipment costs, transportation costs, then tires. Then you have the maintenance that goes into running a race car. When choosing a race engine, if you can use an engine close to stock that has the power and reliability you need to be competitive in your class then thats what you go for.

@ochelari1 Hell even in Formula 1 they do this. The Mclaren MP4/4 is perhaps one of the greatest Formula 1 cars of all time, and it was powered by a Honda Engine. Does that mean Mclaren is inferior to Honda? there are several highly successful F1 cars that were powered by the Ford built Cosworth DFV engine.

Point is get over yourself, and try actually building and racing a car. On the track brand ego disappears very quickly when you have an "inferior" Miata or CRX about to lap you

A porsche 944 was one of my competitors in a track day which ran a pretty fast lap time I drive a Lancer Evo 6 with home made roll cage O.Z wheels on dunlop sport tires brembo brake discs and pads and installed a Tanabe exaust with a KN air intake and has over 319BHP and im planning to sell it on a website for track day cars FOR A 944. :D
