  • Smiley is happy know.

  • top tune n better film smiley sent me to see you all with this message shhhhhhhhh

  • super film superbe interpretation de la chanson

  • Il fait des petites fautes de français, ça donne un charme particulier xD la chanson est magnifique, elle tombe très bien à la fin du film.

    Mr Smiley sent me too.

  • Great cover version, dull as dishwater film.

  • Smilley sent me

  • Where can I get this recording? Could somebody tell me the album?

  • @industrialsoup It's called 'En El Olympia", you can look it up on google if you want...

  • @Dardanstarnan Thanks, torrent worked a treat!

  • i have this song, this version to be exact, as mp3...if anybody wants it let me know...

  • I'm speaking for nearly everybody here, as i think, that i wished this song would be released as a single (for the older folks ;) ) and for downloading. I personaly could download it, but as long as it's still here to hear 4 free, it's ok. What do you think, would you like it with the spoken intro or just the song? Esp. Iglesias' intro gives it more depth and intensity. Best would be the original and the movie version if, as I've read, some parts had been loop for cinema.

  • @Paylusche I'm loving it, just the way it is (( with the intro, the public's applauses..... everything )

  • "Something in French... Well... This french song is so recent that I have to read all the lyrics because... It was only written three days ago. It's only three days old and... That's why I have the lyrics with me. But I can promise you that from today it's going to be very popular in France. You see... I believe it..."

Basically Julio is teasing the Olympia audience with a cover of one of the most popular french songs ever (written by Charles Trenet some 33 years before)

    Fantastic movie BTW

  • thumbs up if the movie :tinker tailor - brought you here !!!

  • The next summer hit? I was in TTSS too. Great film. Great song. I love live recordings more than most well produced studio albums. There's this hidden power, you can feel it. It's not well produced but you can feel the energy of the singer and band. I don't know what Iglesias saw this night, how he felt. What did happen before the show? All this cumulates in this song, as with every other singer oder player.

  • Yes, tinker, tailor soödier spy and Julio

  • TTSS is an awesome.

Director Tomas Alfredson did a masterful job, and I wouldn't expect anything less from the same person that directed the cult hit

    "Let The Right One In."

  • I watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, came home, listened to this song 30 times in a row, fell into a deep sleep and haven't had a negative thought since

  • TTSS brought me here...

  • The reason this song resonates is the fact that this emplifies the period the movie is set in and that it also compliments the pace of the film....the pace being plodding untill the last quarter where it ups the pace untill the unveilling of the finale...enter the song...brilliant =) this urges your feelings towards the film to the climax...now it's time to have that cigarette!

  • @markcimus I think it also has something to do with Mark Strong's character Jim Prideaux becoming a french teacher, and the sense of betrayal he feels towards his supposed friend. In my opinion he is the best thing in the film.

Also the applause coinciding with Smiley taking his rightful place as head of the Circus speaks on behalf of the audience.

  • Dont know why, but I absolutely love this song!

How can a song have such an impact on a film?

    Fantastic...

  • love this at the end of ttss, the thing you realise wathcing it, is that the life of a spook is a truly tragic thing, almost completely devoid of joy and mirth, and this song provided such a bizarre juxtaposition with the tone of the rest of the film, fantastic

  • yup perfect ending theme!

  • This song made Gary Oldman sitting badass.

  • Music on TTSS conducted and composed by ALBERTO IGLESIAS a wonderul Spaniard musician...his choice of pieces could not have been better...this end is absolutely awesome!

  • Goran sent me!

  • benedict's smile at the end, hnnnnnggg----

  • bla bla bla ... je ne parle français :D trés bien. - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the final is awesome with this music.

  • I loved the movie, but perhaps if they exposed a bit more suspense, i.e. more relevant fear or tension-conveyed action (no stupid special effects though), it would attract more wider audiences

  • Its sort of interesting. Most folks who didn't like the movie seem to be saying (1) that it was too slow/boring, and (2) that it was too hard to follow. How can those both be true??? Sounds like some people tuned out when there weren't any CGI explosions in the first 10 mins. At least everyone here liked the ending enough to go find the song.

  • go die lah i also dun understand leh

  • @JorkellDIY I only understood the gist of the plot, but that doesn't mean I didn't love it! For a lot of people it was pretty confusing which turned them off. It's not because they're literal shit eaters that don't know a good movie, but because they would like something easier to understand.

  • Ironically, Mark Strong from TTSS, was "Lord Blackwood" in the first Sherlock Holmes! One thing I noticed during TTSS was the fact that many people around me were chomping on their various "snacks" not realizing that it was not your usual LOUD, action packed film. It's intelligent and thoughtful, and must be listened to carefully in order to understand all its nuances in order to understand the film. Unfortunately a LOT of chompers just don't get it, while spoiling it for everyone else....

  • @MaggieMay575 Several prominent critics praised the "mood" of the picture but criticized it for being difficult to follow. The original screen adaptation of the book was seven hours long so it's not difficult to understand what a challenge it must have been to distill the story down to two hours.

  • If dolphins recorded music, this is what it would sound like. I don't mean that in a bad way; on the contrary, I love this song.

  • loved Tinker Tailor and the spectacular ending accompanied by this hilarious rockin' song just topped it off for me. Came straight home from the cinema tonight to find it on youtube

  • This was the soundtrack in the book too

  • Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy brought me here )))))

  • To be fair, i understand why many wouldn't like the film. I dont think i would if i didnt have such a respect for and reverence of the era. Its not to everyone's tastes, and wasn't the most easy to follow of films. While the general public can unfairly heap praise upon garbage, you have to respect the fact that not every film is particularly accommodating of the general public. Tinker is a film far grittier and real than many on offer.

  • I want to shoot someone in the face with a sniper rifle.

  • @itwontcomeout5678

    Very very funny, itwontcomeout5678!

  • What is he singing about?

  • absolutely beautiful !!!!!!!

  • TTSS was an intelligent spy movie, one that doesn't overwhelm you with mindless action and doesn't tell you everything -- you have to pay attention and figure out what's going on. I thought it was excellent. And JorkellDIY, I think we are soul mates.

  • Absolutely class.

  • es la primera vez que escucho en frances a Julio Iglesias ,y me encanta como todas sus canciones ,sea en Español o cualquier otro idioma ,es unico

  • Makes sense since the music for TTSS was by one Alberto Iglesias. I haven't heard this song since my early childhood, long long time ago...

I'm not sure if this song captures the spirit of the era (ok, I'm not that old), but the film is one long tribute to the late 50's early 60's. I mean sitting in Wimpy's, eating a burger with silverware! No computer in sight. And everybody knows England was in a constant fog (indoors too) during those years :-) Loved it.

  • That movie ending was worth the entire movie which was zero flat without it. It's like the whole 2 hours were rising to that culmination point. And even without the movie this is a very cool song, finally some real music for a change.

  • I can't find this wonderful version on iTunes...:( Saw the movie this weekend, it's so f***ing awesome. Always nice with a movie that makes you feel a little bit... dense.

  • Song (1) + Movie (1) = 3

  • Have just watched TTSS, and looking for this song. I feel so good when there some of you share the same feeling with me. Amazing.

  • Fantastic

  • Just saw the movie TTSS and I must say, what a fantastic masterpiece of a movie! And this song added to the end of the movie was so good (and that comes from a person who are mostly in to hardrock and heavymetal, ha,ha).

But this happens sometimes for me, on rare occasions, like in this movie, that the combination of a song with a particular part of a movie actually makes the song and the movie better than if one would listen/see the two apart. Hope you understand what I mean...

  • @MrJamesLongstreet Totally, that's why I'm here as well. Great movie too.

  • @MrJamesLongstreet found this through tinker ect, ect. too im a metalhead as well, but this is class

  • @MrJamesLongstreet totally agree

  • @MrJamesLongstreet Totally agree.

  • Love this movie. This song is an absolutely brilliant choice!

  • I have to admit I cried at the end of TTST. Not really sure for whom. Probably mostly for the shooter (don't want to spoil).

  • Heard this last night while watching Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I love it!

  • Just amazing. After seeing Tinker Tailor I had to grave this and the only place I could find was on YouTube. Thank you so much.

  • Trying to work out If I love this song because of its elegance or because I associate it with Colin Firth getting shot in the face. Defiantly British film of the year

  • Great film and thanks so much for posting this rather disco number!

Also the subs are great! Many thanks mate.

  • @JorkellDIY Hear, hear. This was the most atmospheric, intelligent, and profound film of recent times. It brought Colin Firth and Gary Oldman to a peak of performative self-discipline. True, it is overly enigmatic on first watch; second time round, everything falls perfectly into place like a symphony. I was brought back to the glory days of seventies cinema

  • @JorkellDIY ....ha ha ha! You rock!!!! You totally rock. You don't suffer fools well do you?

  • @JorkellDIY What if I'm someone who honestly loved and understood TTSS - both in book and film form - and at the same time, I also love the Sherlock Holmes adaptation/s to pieces?

  • @JorkellDIY That was exactly what I told my friend on the way out of the theater.

  • @JorkellDIY Hey I didn't say I didn't like the movie, au contraire - I loved it! I had some problems to understand everything, so I felt the urge to watch it at least once again. I loved the subtle clues and the lovely absence of clichés. But please remember, some highly acclaimed critics have written its only fault is that Alfredson made it too complicated, so not only "dimwits" think that...

  • @JorkellDIY Lol I liked the Movie Sherlock and Tinker you saying that I'm still an idiot? You must be a close minded asshole. Do you know how amazing SH was? I guess not cause you don't give stuff a chance. Both movies made you think. But, in general you can't compare the movies!!!!!! This movie is about "Mole in agency" Sherlock is about "Stopping a man from causing a world war" Shut te fuck up and learn to tell the difference between movies learn how to find if you can compare them

  • Who else is thinking of the camera moving in toward Gary Oldman in that soundproof room.

  • Exactly

  • @CooleyReviews At the finish with the horns, yes. Would like to see one more George Smiley story brought to the screen, with GO in the lead, of course.

  • ok, now I have a reason to pop in my french lesson cassettes and brush up.

  • @loraolenek allez-y!

  • loved the Smiley book series and the new movie, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. This song is so captivating! I hope to see the 1979 mini series soon.

  • this song makes me ridiculously happy and sad at the same time

  • Anyone good enough to translate in English from his opening address to the end of the song? Thanks in advance!

  • @lewiske The sea, seen in, bays along the clear, a silver reflections. The sea, changing reflections in the rain. The sea, in the summer sky, confuses her white sheep with the angels so pure. The sea, shepherdess of azure infinite ... oh, yes, eh! see near ponds, the great reed wet. See these white birds these houses and rusty. The sea, has lulled along the clear gulfs and a love song. The sea, oh, cradled in my heart for life ... Life!
  • @GarrettTheCanadian Thanks Garrett....was in Quebec recently and appreciated those who took the time to speak English! Merci....

  • @lewiske No problem! :D

But actually, I do not speak French at all, I just used Google Translate for the translation, so it might not be 100% accurate. But you're welcome.

  • Like everybody else, I saw "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" the other day, and have been listening to this song ever since. SUCH a great movie, saw it for Gary Oldman but good god so many other hot British guys...and then Mark Strong and Colin Firth at the end. I cried. Just....wow.

  • Chansons they can be so beatiful and this song is a number one example!

Heard it also by watching the movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Loved the watch, but this song one of my favorites now, thank you Julio Iglesias!

  • I'm also here because of TTSS, but my god what a lovely song. Evokes memories of playing Bioshock, too! And I adore the distinctly 70's feel of this version. <3

  • So is everyone here because of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy? That movie kicked serious ass, and this song certainly helped.

  • George Smiley sent me.

  • TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY. Wonderful film

  • @arthrprado589 Yeah!

  • Graaaaaaaaaacias :)))

  • This is such a cool number but Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was BORING ...

  • Kim Philby had incest with his fellow traitor son

  • long life the Kgb Welcome Kim Philby

  • Great movie and great song.

  • I fell asleep watching Tinker Tailor and half woke up to this booming through the surround sound at the end. One of the most surreal experiences of my life.

  • @tathjones haha, exact same thing happend to me! :D

  • @tathjones Yo really? How could you possibly have fallen asleep during Tinker Tailor? What an outstanding film with fine acting all around and a stellar, complex plot to go along with it. I most definitely agree with the surreal part though.

  • @Aestra19 you see, some people don't like to think. Keep it simple...good guy, bad guy...happily ever after and all that. TTSS, masterpiece. I hope they continue with the trilogy.

  • @TheBigEase Well said man...well said. What people don't understand is that by thinking they can experience a more intricate sense of pleasure while watching a film. (that applies to almost anything)

  • Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was an incredible film, and this song was well-used in it.

  • yes beautiful and touching ending of the movie

  • beautiful melody

  • what he said in the beginning? Anything relevant to the film?

  • The director said that this song was something they imagined George Smiley would listen too. It was an interesting choice for the end of the movie but I'm not so sure about Smiley gettin into it.

  • Seriously one of the more mindbending and surreal endings in recent movie history.

  • @Tails137 Totally agree.

  • I dont speak the language but it sure makes a lot more sense the movie did.

  • @rasoros The mole was being used by the Soviets in a ploy to get access to the Americans through the British. Boom. Movie unraveled.

  • What an amazing song, and what a great ending for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

  • I also looked this up after returning home from the movie TTSS. What a fabulous closing song for a movie that's so international! And I love the irony that the joyful song comes after the film's two-hour somber gray mood and images and the complicated and dark plot and characters. Great! And thanks Julio

  • @maggiegillie I didn't care much for the movie, but I completely agree that this upbeat song made for a tremendously ironic and powerful juxtaposition against the "somber gray mood" of the film.

  • Beautiful! Unfortunately this song is not included on TTSS soundtrack CD!!! Shame!

  • Looks like all the commentators came here after having watched the movie.

Well, and so did I )))

Great song and a great film!!!

  • This song is amazing. Thanks to TInker Tailor Soldier Spy.

  • merde!

  • Emmmmm..... sorry but, I'm a former spy from KARLA, and where is USSR now?

  • Karla is the one dislike because he knows this is George Smiley's favorite song.

  • @captain07234 Haha, good one!

  • one is the soviet spy!!!

  • couldn't stop listening to after tinker tailor soldier spy, great movie, great song

  • Heydon really cried when this song played, in a way.

  • I wake up in the movie when i heard this song xDD

  • Is this some were under the seas

  • Do you think George Smiley likes this song?

Its very far from german poetry.

  • świetny kawałek :) kiedy znalazłem kto wykonuje ostatni utwór w filmie nie mogłem uwierzyć że to nieśmiertelny Julio :) pozdrawiam wszystkich widzów filmu z Garry Oldman'em ! :)

  • For all Smiley's People...

  • The movie brought me here too! I loved the ending with this song! Oh, those groovy '70's! (I had to look up "Second Greatest Secret Agent in the Whole Wide World" too!)

  • For Jim Prideaux.

  • mola mucho y en tinker taylor soldier spy ni te digo

    fucksssss

  • The Kings Of Kings ...

  • Una maravilla!!! gracias por ponerlo

  • By the way Viva Julio Iglesias & Viva España!!

  • Like everyone else, I think the ending to Tinker Tailor is really amazing thanks to this song.

  • Ingenioso ! Dardanstarnan - gracias ! Saludos de Polonia !

  • @kolekcjoner2010 gracias a ti, przyjaciel polski!

  • Julio's brother not son

  • Comment removed

  • Julio's son wrote the soundtrack so it was quite nice to use his father's song (this one) for the final scenes. At first I thought it didn't quite fit but as the song went on and we see Smiley triumphantly take Control's job the song fit the upbeat ending - making it a perfect choice.

  • @AchtungEnglander Not his son

  • @AchtungEnglander Julio Iglesias and Alberto Iglesias aren't relatives

  • @nicholasrayo Exactly

  • Dear people that have seen Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and anyone else, thank you for seeing this video, for thanks to you I have more that 30,000 views. Thanks again and enjoy!

  • @Dardanstarnan Thanks so much for posting it...hearing this as the final sequence in the film blew me away, after which I hunted down this version of a true classic....amazing!

  • @ezglm2 you know it! :)

  • @ezglm2 Me too!

  • @Dardanstarnan No problem. I just saw the film today and found myself enjoying this song!

  • @Scoonertuna seems natural to me!

  • @Dardanstarnan I found this this song here just after the TTSS :) Nice song and nice film. Thank u!

  • @aflx53 Of course, anything else you want to listen to, hopefully I'll have it :)

  • @Dardanstarnan i watched tinker tailor soilder spy today and it was awesome.the movie is one of my favorite british movies

  • @CabanGamers Well, I'm starting to get intrigued by this movie, I guess it's time to see it...

  • And Gary Oldman in the last scene in TTSS? Julio sings for triumphant Smiley sitting in Control's chair. That was really something.

  • Beautiful song which gets me in a good mood. And Colin Firth was great in that ending scene in Tinker Tailor....the scene was simply prodigious!

  • havent seen Tinker yet, but this is they way music is supposed to be presented! what a live performence. And i always thought Julio Iglesias was for my grandma

  • @76howiematt you sir, are a class A dick

  • @BritLib101gers what did you make of the movie???

  • Great ending, such an upbeat sounding song contrasting with the complete misery of the betrayal.
