do we have to soak them in lubricant or can we just put them on without soaking them in any lubricant?? jojobarz33 said to soak them b4 putting them!!
Hey, I want to upgrade my curado 51e with the boca bearings, but I'm kinda confused. Am I supposed to buy 2 separate bearings, or do they both come in one package?
@AznBassAngler ARGH. while turning the reel handles spins the spool without any line on it, when i tie a tense line on the spool to spool, turning the handle doesn't spin the spool! it's like turning the reel handles don't have any real "teeth" on the spool to turn it. Help!
ten min video to change 2 bearings? lol wow, maybe you should show them the right way, NEVER put a side load an a bearing by pressing it in by the inner race, always the outer race, these are radial bearings desinged to with stand zero side load, just a little amount of side pressure could damage the bearings.
Great video, I have had a calais for 5 years and wanted to change the bearing on it. Do you think you could do a video on a shimano calais. The main thing is the bearing under the tesion/friction knob, there is metal that covers it and not just a spring like the citicas or curados. Keep up the good videos.
We'll see in the long run. I've been researching and on the forums a lot of people used them without the seals. Most of them say they work better without the seals but have to maintenance the bearings every 2-3 months. I like mines better without the seals and plus i had to flush mines out since one of them wasn't working and now it works. It's way too hard for me to put the seals on so im gonna have to use them like this.
Never mind it works now after flushing it out with acetone for 45 minutes. I'm using mines without the seals. I guess I'm gonna have to maintenance mines every 2-3 months.
@TeamRippnLipz1 Yeah they do but once you take them out it is very difficult in putting them back so i just left them out. And i think the bearings perform much better without the seals also.
@tomvang18 No because they get stuff in um so the performance gets worse over time. Also the seal does not touch on the center of the lower race. So there is no resistance
I'm already disappointed with mines. One of them doesn't even spin. I'm flushing both mines with acetone to see how it goes. Hopefully the one that doesn't spin will eventually spin or I'm not buying them anymore.
@hersta916 Yea get a big improvement in casting distance. I also noticed i cant pitch much longer. Its just better if you do it you will see what i mean
I kept hearing you can use the orange ceramic bearing without the orange seals. If so, is it better? And do you only remove one of the seals on it. Or should i just leave them on. Do you have to maintenance them at all with the seals on. Please respond.
@tomvang18 No do not remove the orange seal. Because they do not touch the inner bearing ring. If you hold the bearing up to the light you will see what i mean. Removing the seal will just allow any crap to get in... And no these bearings are maintenance free! Fish on bud
Nice! thanks for makin this vid, im getting my curado tomorrow and now i can supe up my citica and have 2 kick ass reels! haha, just wondering though? would it be smart to lube the bearings with the stock lube you get with the shimano reels? just a thought. oh.....and your accent is kick ass, movie star status! HA
@AdamsBaits Thx! lol Um don't use any oil on the dry boca bearings. You can use the oil on the stock bearings only if there dry witch is rare adding oil or grease can hurt the reel if you add to much or put it in the wrong spots. Better to leave it alone for a year or so
is this the same as changing the driveshaft bushing to a bearing? this is my first baitcast reel. i just bought the citica. prry should of bought the curado but i dont like the color. only paid 92 for the citica tho.what exactly does changing the spool bearing do. just for helping retrieve smoother or for casting to. would changing the driveshaft bushing to a bearing help aslo and would it use the same bearing as the spool? anyway you can do a video on that if its not the same thing. thanks
I was looking and they have two types of bearings for the caenan. One says caenan and its lube dry two bearings... The other says caenan(spool) and it shows three bearings... Which is the one for what you just showed. Is it caenan or caenan(spool)??
Would you mind doing a video on maintenance of the Citica? Cleaning, oiling, etc? Or do you have one and Im over looking it? I'd appreciate it!

@TeamRippnLipz1 Hi. Isn't should be 1 more bearing sitting in the middle of the spool (just behind the spool shaft pin) for Shimano Citica?

Why cant you have any grease?
FreshwaterAngling 6 months ago
Hello this is great stuff! Would this be the same as the Curado E7CU201? That I need 2 bearings to change? Thanks!
goonergoon 6 months ago
@goonergoon Yup the same spool bearings work in both models Left or right Curado or citica
TeamRippnLipz1 6 months ago
so you dont need to grease the reel anymore?
wastedazhell 6 months ago
@wastedazhell Grease is only for the Gears and drag... Oil is used on a cotton swab for the break weights and etc. But do not oil Boca bearings
TeamRippnLipz1 6 months ago
after i've replaced my bearings with the boca ones, when i turn my knobs like you do at 11:11, my spool doesn't turn. where did i go wrong?
bicyclethief 8 months ago
@bicyclethief your tension knob may be too lose, try tightening it up just a bit more

@AznBassAngler my tension knob was turned too tight. thx! your helpful tip is much appreciated.

@AznBassAngler Nevermind! I'm an idiot. I must have accidently set my drag to totally loose when I was putting in the bearing.

@LandThatFish How many bearings total? should only be 2

Hey i have a question. Have u changed the plastic drive shaft part to a bearing? Cuz everybody saying that it damages the gear.
iwontforgetmypsw 10 months ago
@iwontforgetmypsw There is no plastic drive shaft. I don't understand what you mean!
TeamRippnLipz1 10 months ago
@TeamRippnLipz1 some reels have a plastic bushing under the spool tension knob instead of a bearing. I think thats what hes talking about.
