Sure skill trees can be cheap, but that doesn't make the game any worse. It's not like only 1 character is getting it, all characters will get it and it will balance out. If you hate it that much, then go to no Skill tree rooms or make your own.

Ok yeah...skill tree's kind of did ruin the game but i think the biggest problem is how overpowered they are, if they weren't so oped then there'd be no as huge of a threat of getting owned by a suprise attack.
I think skill trees ruined the game because before, depending on what job someone was, you could guess what tactic they were going to use, such as a thief running and spamming kunai throw (double jump), but now, it makes it were its impossible to know what your opponent is going to do. while that adds diversity in the game, a skill tree is not suitable for grand chase...its just not the game for it
