Is it true that Wilt had a vertical of 50 inches? It doesn't seem right because I've never seen his head go above the rim. Also I've read that he could bench over 500 pounds, that doesn't seem accurate either because he isn't massively huge and his arms were very long which would make it even harder to bench.
Wilt was a track and field star and did a high jump of 6 feet 6 inches in college. It might not be impossible. There's a lot of Wilt that was never recorded on film. We do know that around his athletic peak he could definitely get at least 40 inches without running.
@bordertown Glad you brought this up. Wilt was an outstanding T&F guy, he ran the 880, could shot put nearly 60 ft and once rant the 100 yard dash in 10.5, which is amazing since he had to come out of the blocks. He may have been the greatest athlete ever...
@ 0:04 seconds in the video above, Wilt does a dunk that shoots the ball up ABOVE the backboard on its rebound off the floor. Show me one dunk Shaq does that he is able to slam the ball downward that hard through the hoop. And don't give me bullshit showcasing "hanging on the rim" as a sign of strength when it wasn't even allowed in Wilt's era. Just find footage of Shaq, doing any kind of dunk, but focus on the path of the BALL and get back to me with it. That's how to compare their dunk power.
@dantheman9758 ....lmaooo...dont ever compare wilts dunking power to shaq....shaq doesnt do boring dunks that go straight down....he gets his knees up...check this footage
"shaq dunks on chris dudley (funny as hell)"....if you pause is at the right moment at 1:07 dudleys face is about an inch from shaqs groin....
"shaq nearly dies!!!"...the footage doesnt lie....if you pause at the moment shaq falls to the ground,the rim is in his hand with glass coming down on his face.....FOOTAGE DOESNT LIE
@shaqpopcorn34 - I have seen Wilt dunking and he just dunks and swiftly returns down court. Shaq doesn't have dunking power - he is just real sloppy looking, slow and hangs on the rim with ALL THAT WEIGHT ! The only power is the stress that is put on the basket. I am surprised the rim doesn't come down.
He probably could LOOK powerful but my high school football coach used to sat "SPEED IS POWER." Shaq has yo be one of the slowest men to ever play basketball !
@Oscarnoche ????????????????????? u better watch some more 90s Shaq when you say he is slow.
i ain't on shaqpop's side whatsoever in the shaq wilt debate but thats total nutz to be sayin that especially to that dude. yer about to get spammed by shaqpopcorn34 & most correctly so

This Shaq clip matches my theory which is that players can only TRULY relate to their own times when they were the warriors on the court. They can be all kinds of knowledgeable but their own enemy was the best of all
I say this tho, when Chamberlain came out of the shadows to give interviews about how Shaq will be a force in the NBA, I immediately started watching a lotta Shaq.
@shaqpopcorn34 although, of course, Shaq never was as powerful on the dunk as Wilt, and never dominated like Wilt.............. he did pretty good really.
@ZipperZappleZ ....i go by what i say...not by what others say....footage clearly shows wilt is a joke....many guys think he was the best without even having seen him play....wilt had WEAK dunks...lebron dunks with wayyyyyy more power....
wilt= played 4 game 7's vs celtics.....outscored by sam jones in all 4....lmaooo...what dominance..
wilt= 44.8 ppg in 62-63....his team went 21-49...what dominance....lmaoooo...
wilt= swept by the 38-41 syracuse nationals...swept by a LOSING TEAM...ouch
@ZipperZappleZ ..wilts team was 31*-49 in 63....not 21-49.....
in game 6 of 69 nba finals,all the lakers had to do and they would have the nba title and wilt would retire russell with a championship over him
in that game 6 with a chance to win it all,wilt scored a grand total of 2 POINTS..lmaoo..then lakers lose game 7 AT HOME...with SAM JONES outscoring wilt in his last career game
west 42 pts 13 rbs 12 assists..celts up 103-94 when wilt went out,went on a 12-5 run to end game without wilt
Wilt's coach Frank McGuire told him to score 50 ppg due to a mediocre roster. Why do you contrast with Jones and Baylor, shooters far superior to Wilt's teammates? Russell didn't have to score much. The game 7 loss in 65 wasn't Wilt's fault. Greer messed up the pass. The game 7 loss in 68 wasn't his fault either. He only got the ball 7 times total in the 2nd half. Wilt had a bad leg in game 7 in 69, while none of the Laker stars did well in game 6. Why blame Wilt for everything?
@bordertown Totally agree. To start Wilt's 76ers were not as good as Russell's C's. In 68 ECF vs BOS, PHI lost 2 starters and their 6th man. In 69 finals, Wilt was playing on a bad knee which he blew out in 70. In 70 Finals, when W Frazier dominated, J West was playing injured. In 71 playoffs, both Baylor and West were DNP. Unfortunately, Wilt gets all the blame. Put MJ on those 60's 76ers they get beat even worse than w/ Wilt.
@bordertown Although I do think that if Wilt had played w/ the mentality of the 66-67 season earlier he may of had a little more success. That season he realized that he could dominate a game w/o having to score 40-50 pts. He could control the game scoring 20-30 pts, grabbing 20-30 rebs, and concentrating most of his effort on controlling the paint on D.
@bordertown I dunno why people blame Wilt for everything. In 65-66 vs BOS in the Divisional playoff, Wilt avg. 28 pts, and 30 reb, on 50.9% fg. Look at his teammates FG %, Hal Greer 35.2, Chet Walker 37.5, Wali Jones 32.5, Luke Jackson 42.9, and Al Bianchi 41.9. Russell didn't beat Wilt, BOS beat PHI. Some ppl don't get bball is a team sport.
@shaqpopcorn34 Line up the Warriors & the Celtics & see facts. Celtics Cousy, Heinsohn, KC Jones, Frank Ramsay, Russell - Starting 5 Hall of Fame 6th man Sam Jones Hof 7th man Satch Sanders Hof Red Auerbach HoF coach
Warriors Arizin 37 year old HoF in his last season (picture Shaq's last leg) Gola HoF Chamberlain HoF Meschery - rookie Guy Rodgers - 35% shooter Coach McGuire - 1 season in NBA Except for Gola, THOSE ARE STIFFS. Playing against the most stacked team in the history of basketball.

The name of the song is "corporate nazis slither around the Internet trying to ban content got thrown into their own gas chamber" written by Freeda Nett
I'm a Celtics fan. In Wilt's defense about the game Wilt lost when he had 55 rebounds it was against the Boston Celtics the defending champs with Bill Russell and multiple hall of famers. Wilt was a rookie and his Philly team had 1 other rookie 3 players in just their second year 2 players in just their third season the team Wilt was on SUCKED!!!
everybody arguing over stats...shut up...every past and present nba player is great because they have more talent than all of us!...our job is to watch and be entertained....so, lets just do our job
@lakerfan2390 your comment has 0 logic in it. as basketball fans and as humans, we have the right to compare. what has them being better than us got to do with the validity of a point?
and the comparison of stats from wilt's era is unfair. since the purpose of comparing stats is to determine who is the greater player, it would be advisable to ask yourselves, who would fair better in the contemporary NBA.
@lakerfan2390 yea its a right, everything is a right nowadays....they're better than us because their basketball talent took them to the nba and ours didn't....lets just all watch wilt and smile
@musikaNeues ....get ready for some wilt embarrassment...check wilts playof record in his scoring title years,which people are so impressed by....
wilt= 22-30 .423% playoff record in 7 scoring title yrs!!!...lmaoooo
shaq= 26-18 .591% playoff record in 2 scoring title yrs....more playoff wins in 2 scoring title yrs than wilt in 7....when wilt got the ball the most,his team failed....when shaq got the ball the most,his team succeeded....wilt is no bill russell,thats for sure
@dantheman9758 yer cool but I gotta tell ya - he will only reappear as waff1eironmacsplat or one of his other nom de guerre & then it is pure hate spewage.
shaqpop is true hoops fan however his drink is bitter because he can't comprehend the geological event of Chamberlain.
Shaqpop throws his li'l stix&stonz because he knows Wilt will 3x outrebound prime Shaq, then run Shaq straight into the ground & dunk over his awed & prostrate body, laugh right in his face &.....
@musikaNeues ...waffle copies my posts...waffle is a diehard mike fan...im a shaq fan....i never rooted for mike a day in my life...
wilt= a joke...rebounding?....are you aware nate thurmond grabbed 31 rebounds vs wilt in game 1 of the 1967 nba finals?....nate was over 20 rebounds all 6 games that series...it was EASY to get tons of rebounds back then,because there were far more shots taken,and far more misses....
wilt= 2 rings...thats embarrassing for a man with his reputation
@shaqpopcorn34 I apologize then. I thought you were the filthy waffle.
shaq= a joke... rebounding?,,,, what is that? are you aware about anybody in the league besides maybe muggsy bogues outrebounded shaq whenever they felt like it?.... 0 rebounding titles and he had 19 years to do it in. that's monumental fail.... rodman & barkley half foot shorter beat shaq rebounding every season for like a decade
Shaq= 6 sweeps... thats embarrassing for a man with his reputation
@musikaNeues - You got it all right this poopcorn guy makes a drag of himself. He has seen a few highlights and knows nothing. He doesn't realize that in '72 after his debilitating injury of '69 Wilt won the MVP over Kareem in the WCF. Kareem outscored Wilt like 200-67 but Wilt was MVP. He doesn't realize there is a reason for that !
Poor bastad "poopcorn" has seen very little and it's like talking to an elementary school kid !
@42marisol1 disagree my friend. shaqpop is true hoops fan he tries but fails miserably to prove his point of Shaq better than The Chairman of the Boards
@musikaNeues ...shaq with 6 sweeps?...and?....u mean a man who was swept 6 times has TWICE the amount of rings as wilt chamberalin?...lmaoooo
shaq= nba record 13 straight seasons averaging 20-10....lmaooo...rebounding?....shaq outrebounded rebound champs in playoff series...WHEN IT MATTERS...
wilt= nba record 55 rebounds in a game....DID I MENTION HE LOST THAT GAME!!!!....lmaoooooo
shaq- 15-1 in 2001 playoffs...undefeated on the road....has the nba record for consecutive playoff road wins
@shaqpopcorn34 yeah that is the true measure of what that knee injury did to Chamberlain. For the first time he finally dropped below 20-20 season avg....... of course his career 30-23 crushes everyone who ever played & is really the only stat we need to look at to make shaq go cruising on his yacht.... big ocean to hide all the tears
wilt= 30.1 ppg in reg.season.....22.5 ppg in playoffs when the good teams are left...lmaooo...
rebounding?...
wilt= 24.5 rpg in 47.2 mpg in playoff career
russ= 24.9 rpg in 45.4 mpg in playoff career
LMAOOO....the 6'9 220 lb bill russell with MORE rpg in FEWER minutes than wilt....sorry....it was easy to get 20 rpg in wilts era....thats why 4 guys did in the 60's....wayyyyyy more shots taken,which means more rebounds
@musikaNeues ...im supposed to be impressed with 20+ rpg when 4 guys did in wilts era,PLUS the fact that wilt is #1 alltime in mpg,continuing to stay in and stat-pad in blowout wins AND losses?...
bill russell= 21 rebounds in game 7 of the 1969 nba finals vs wilt....at age 35 and the last nba game he ever played!!!!....lmaooooo....
nate thurmond= 20+ rebounds in all 6 games of the 1967 nba finals vs prime wilt....lmaooo...guys with 20+ rebounds vs wilt WITH EASE....lmaooooo
@shaqpopcorn34- " im supposed to be impressed with 20+ rpg when 4 guys did in wilts era,PLUS the fact that wilt is #1 alltime in mpg,continuing to stay in and stat-pad in blowout wins AND losses?..."
You certainly flatter yourself - do you thrive attention that you juat can't get at home. I don't think anybody is trying to impress you - RID OF YOUR SORRY ASS - that is true !
You comments are stupid.Wilt ran a 49.0 440 in HIGH SCHOOL. Shaq would need a cab to do that !
@musikaNeues ...time to expose wilts rebounding with ease....
1960= league average was 73.5 rpg....#1 alltime!!!!
1993= league average was 43.1 rpg....the highest it was in shaqs whole career!!!!...
PERSPECTIVE..
1960= royals/knicks= 70.0 rpg..TIED FOR DEAD LAST IN THE NBA!!!
1993= nuggets= 46.7 rpg....#1 in the nba!!!!
1986 celtics= 46.4 rpg...#1 in the nba,with a legendary frontcourt!!!.....would the WORST rebounding teams in 1960 dominate these teams on the boards?...LMAOOOO...OWNED!!!
@shaqpopcorn34 - Everyone is aware of the numbers but how much did Wilt lead the league by year after year ?
Normally a lot w/ the exception of Russ the greatest defensive center ever. Bitch about his weight ? Camby (same weight as Russ) led the league in blocked shots with over 3 per game more than today's class of "CLOWN" centers, Howard. Certain things imprive with time, The centers have regressed. Shaq is done and as Wilbon and all else agree he places only 4th (at best) all time.
@42marisol1 lmaoo...wilbon?...all else?...lmaooo...im the expert...not them...those clowns dont even understand there were wayyyyyyy more possessions back then,meaning way better numbers...thats how oscar could averaged 12.5 rpg in 1962,while ewing has NEVER got that many....FOOTAGE clearly shows shaq is not only better,but wayyyy better than wilt....
blocks?....u get LESS BLOCKS when people are afraid to challenge you....thats how andrew bogut got more than dwight howard last yr...NUFF SAID
@shaqpopcorn34 - says "u get LESS BLOCKS when people are afraid to challenge you"
Yeah. but you get more blocks when your arm can go to higher heights than any man who ever played the game. You get your ass kicked in thr '95 finals like Shaq -as he sat atationary underneath the bucket while Hakeem was all over the court putting in a variety of shots .
How about Shaq ? No variety of shots, he could only shoot from just 5 feet and closer to the bucket.
@shaqpopcorn34 - You have never seen footage of prime Wilt ! Anything that he did after he left the Warriors was after the knee operation. He still won MVP over the 2nd best center ever, Kareem after that !
"andrew bogut got more than dwight howard last yr" - Those guys are both part of the worst center crop we have had in over 20 years. You are DICKLESS little pe-pee man as you said of yourself.
@shaqpopcorn34 - says" im the expert not them...those clowns dont even understand there were wayyyyyyy more possessions back then,meaning way better numbers."
I think you might find out a little bit differently if you were to ask them. In fact, I don't know a soul who isn't aware of that . Apparently, since this is "NEW NEWS" to you, so you think that people are just as ignorant as you ! Unfortunately , that isn't the case and your ignorance is unprecedented !
@shaqpopcorn34 - says" im the expert..." NEW DRUGS- whatever your guy is getting you has really fucked up your head.
On Wilt
" Nobody seems to appreciate what an incredible player Wilt was," Russell said at 1997 All-Star Game when the league named and honored its 50 greatest players. "He was the best player of all time because he dominated the floor like nobody else ever could. To be that big and that athletic was special."
Let me know when somebody says Shaq is the best of all time.
@42marisol1 ....let you know when someone says shaq is the best of alltime?....ok...ELLIOT KALB....you know,"MR.STATS"?....wilts 50 ppg just doesnt impress him....me either...he shot a pathetic .506% to get their,while shaq has never been below 55%.....wilt was a playoff choker....the FOOTAGE clearly shows shaq is wayyy better....but most important of all,i say shaq is the best.....and im the expert....yes,im the expert
@42marisol1 ...who cares about wilt leading the league in certain stats....he didnt win rings til he stopped winning scoring titles....he went for the assist title,he even admitted it....did you know that red auerbach once offered bill russell a raise contingent on leading the nba in rebounds....russell refused,saying if he tried to lead the nba in rebounds it would take him away from areas where he would be best for his TEAM.....wilt played for numbers....russell played for letters...as in W's
@shaqpopcorn34 -Ask Shaq how to win a title. He'll see if you can partner up with the best shooting guard in the league ! Kobe carried his fat ass in LA but DWade could only do it once in Miami.
He decides - Hmm! I'll see if I can beg my way to play with LeBron - Sorry it just didn't work.
Try the big three in Boston - even those studs couldn't carry his big ASS !
Shaq can go back to what he does best - eatin chiterlings and double baconaters !
@42marisol1 ARE u trippin? shaq is a beast, but if u are a real basketball fan you would know that a team isnt going to win a title with 1 all star center it takes more than that, kobe didnt carry them, they both could only do so much Did u notice the other 13 players on the bench who came in and scored the other points shaq AND kobe made up about 45% of the lakers points every game so neither of them carried the other
@42marisol1 ...talking about shaq with cavs and celtics?...lmaoo...u mean his 18th and 19th yrs?....wilt retired after 14..too many guys kicking his ass
how can you lose to bill russell in his final game on your home floor?..
jerry wests 42 pts 13 rbs 12 assists wasnt enough to carry wilts ass....in that game sam jones outscored wilt...the 4th straight game 7 he outscored wilt it....did i mention it was sam jones last game too?...LMAOOO...lakers outscored celtics 13-4 after wilts knee boo-boo
@shaqpopcorn34 - You have never told me a thing about basketball that I didn't already kow, You don't even know what Wilt footage is - you never saw him play in Philly or San Fran.
Russell didn't play against a team full of hall of famers - he played for them.
@TheReeeeeech watch?v=c3jkRpOfP9k#t=2m24s Shaq's speed and Wilt's speed should never be compared unless it's a joke. Watch the following sequence. Shaq chose to be lazy and enter the seasons of his prime as a fatass. It seemed to work for him so it's not a complaint, but as a result he NEVER had the wheels or quickness like Wilt, it's common sense. A lumbering hulk vs an NCAA big-8 track champion? Come on that's just dumb.. Shaq was explosive, powerful, strong... but fast!?. No.
@shaqpopcorn34 Shaq was fast when young, still not as fast as Wilt, but anyways. I CLEARLY specified Shaq's PRIME. The LA years he was fat as fuck, and criticized for it. He was LAZY in those off seasons and as a result he was NEVER faster than the guards of the league in his era much less small forwards. No center really should be that fast actually, but guess who was? Wilt and Drob. Wheres footage of Prime Shaq repeatidly PASSING UP opposing guards/forwards multiple times per game? Go find it.
@dantheman9758 ....lmaooo....in L.A. he was fat as fuck?....lmaoooo....i think you mean he was GREAT as fuck in L.A.....did you know shaqs playoff numbers went UP from orlando to L.A.?...did you know that mr.tireless worker kobe bryants pathetic play ended the 3-peat?....
shaq= 3 career playoff runs averaging 20+ fgas....ALL 3 ENDED IN RINGS!!!...then in 2003 kobe shot-jacked and led the entire playoffs in ppg...but shot a pathetic .434% and cost the lakers a ring....shot .381% in 04 finals
@shaqpopcorn34 Not a fan of Kobe, I am a fan of Shaq, I don't disagree. Except he was def fat it's even in his book how his body fat% were never in line with what they wanted his to be at. I'm not saying him being fat = non-greatness. In fact, I think it helped him be an immovable force in the paint. I'll even say, he was faster than most non-fat centers even when he was fat. But in no way have I ever seen prime Shaq fast break like prime Robinson or prime Wilt. They're in a class on their own.
@dantheman9758 ...no,he was not fat...he was simply a giant...people see numbers in the 300's and assume a person is fat...haq came into the nba at 303 and was in incredible shape...u expect him to look like he did at 20?...wilt was a lot heavier late in his career than he was in philly...was he fat?..shaq had the most explosive energy in nba history....
"shaq miss-freethrow-DUNK on duncan"....look how quickly that happens...while a giant like kendrick perkins takes 3 seconds to gather himself
"planet shaq part 4"...pay attention to the amount of explosive energy he uses..there is nothing more tiring than using explosive energy..moving quickly and explosively...jumping explosively..its so clear to see..yet people only see the power
see the actual defensive resistance?...the defensive resistance against wilt was a joke in comparison...yes,even including bill russell...there were more exposed white thighs in wilts era than a baywatch episode
@dantheman9758 ....02-03 was shaqs heaviest yr as a laker..and he was GREAT...kobe played all 82,had his most ppg in 8 yrs with shaq,and finished ahead of shaq in mvp.....it was the lakers LEAST successful year as a duo?....because of shaq?...fuck no....because of kobes shot-jacking..THE FACTS....
lakers= 45-22 .672% when shaq played in 02-03
lakers= 5-10 .333% when shaq did not play in 02-03!!!
the 3-time champs started 3-9 when shaq missed the first 12 games!!!...NICE JOB KOBE!!!!..LMAOOOO
"shaq starts and finishes the fastbreak"...that was the PLAYOFFS..see phil jackson clapping at 16 seconds?...do you know how often phil clapped?!?!!?
"shaq with block and amazing fastbreak"....34 YEAR OLD SHAQ in the playoffs,14th season..wilt retired after his 14th yr..and he is making these plays while DRIBBLING the ball..
dwight is in shape,correct?.a freak athlete..show me dwight making a play like that...we damn sure know wilt couldnt
@shaqpopcorn34 There's barely any footage of Wilt, but of Wilt's career footage that DOES exist, has an alarming amount of fast-break material. He lead fast breaks multiple times a game, with Shaq, it is infrequent and seems more amazing but with Wilt it was routine. This isn't to take away from Shaq. This is just the logical game of a wirey NCAA track and field star center (who played point guard for the globetrotters) vs a pound in the paint massive one. I'll show you: (cont)...
@dantheman9758 ....nope....you got it backwards....with shaq it was ROUTINE...he did it in the mcdonalds high school all-america game...he did it in the playoffs....he did it on dream team 2....he did it in college...HE DID IT IN HIS 1ST FUCKING GAME....want proof?...
"shaquille o'neal - first nba regular season game"....the footage doesnt lie...shaq not old enough to legally drink...but old enough to have a coast to coast dunk in the nba....with EASE...SHOW ME WILT DOING THAT
@shaqpopcorn34 Conversations over. If you want to have discussions you need to chill and cut back on your "agenda" of proving stuff that doesn't need proven. I'm 100 percent positive you can never show me a video, or move of Shaq's I haven't already seen two or three times before. You just spam comments - I don't mind a discussion every once in a while but your comments come off as irritating spam when for every 1 reply I type, you've typed 3 more. More quality, less quantity next time.
@dantheman9758 ...my apologies of bringing facts and footage that cant be disputed....maybe you should stick to communicating to people who offer their OPINIONS without mountains of evidence to back anything up like i do...i bring the footage....i bring the facts....still waiting on that impressive wilt footage....ive seen plenty of wilt footage...yes,even from his philly days....not just just on youtube either....wilt is a joke compared to shaq....keep telling yourself otherwise
@shaqpopcorn34 Search "Career Highlights of Wilt Chamberlain"
UNDERSTAND:
*Shaq's hanging on rims was not allowed in Wilt's era.
*"No regard for human life" offense was not allowed in Wilt's era.
*Rapid lateral movements are highly restricted by Chuck Taylors.
*NO "extra" step was allowed to the basket in Wilt's era.
Every video you constantly spam, is footage of Shaq breaking one or all of those 1960's rules, yet you insist to see Wilt do them or you'll remain unimpressed?.... lost cause....
@dantheman9758 If you can't learn to keep ALL of those actively in your mind while watching Wilt AND while trying to "compare" him to your favorite players who don't have those restrictions, you will never be giving him a fair analysis. What am I even saying. It won't happen anyways, no matter what, your never going to be able to like him and do a mental 180 lol. For god knows what reasons, you've got a very strange hatred for a basketball player that even your favorite player appreciates.
@dantheman9758 ...im still waiting to see wilt do anything on shaqs level...show me his coast to coast plays...let me guess,centers werent allowed to do that in wilts era....lmaooo..wilt didnt even come close to shaqs quickness..how did wilt fail to shoot 50% in college?
wilt= never cracked 55% in 7 scoring title yrs....his high fg% yrs are when he rarely shot
shaq= 19 straight yrs over 55%...EVERY SINGLE YEAR...just imagine what he would do vs weak 60s defenses when bad teams scored 110+ pts
@shaqpopcorn34 You must have missed all the parts like Wilt passing and faking on a give and go like Magic Johnson in high school while playing as a point guard, and then in the NCAA dishing the ball behind his back accurately to a teammate in a full sprint as a defender closed in on his dribbling hand. Your BLIND. Never seen Shaq do that even given today's "extra" step gratuity. Also, you missed a block to the guard on defense, and than runs full court beating all the guards for a slam...smh
@dantheman9758 I bet Shaq would lose the dribble on a full court sprint if someone even got NEAR his dribbling hand on defense, much less tried to take it. Wilt non-chalantly dishes behind the back to his teammate. Wilt played point guard for the Harlem Globetrotters, and your vehemently unimpressed by all of it sticking to the idea that Shaq while being totally unguarded on the dribble down court is more impressive. Yah... More likely you mistake his illegal-in-60's moves as skill.
@dantheman9758 ....wilt running track?...and?....i used to hear about leandro barbosa being possibly the fastest guy in the nba....was he the best?....was he even close to being the best?....was he even the best point guard?....was he even the best point guard on his own team?....nope....nash was....
shaq= wayyyyyyy better than wilt....wilt shoulda stuck to track if he was so fast.....but he would be outta luck if bill russell did too....he would whip his ass in that too
@dantheman9758 Hey dantheman , one guy on Wilt vs Ali vid said that his grandpa is a hall of fame basketball player and that he saw Wilt doing 100 1 handed pushups . Shit i have been searching you tube but no videos of anyone doing that . It must be hell hard .
@musikaNeues ...lmaooo..wilt couldnt even dominate his peers...embarrassing...
wilt= 50.4 ppg in 62...1.28 points per shot attempt
shaq= 29.7 ppg in 00...1.41 points per shot attempt
lmaoo....
wilt= 1.38 points per shot attempt
shaq= 1.47 points per shot attempt in his career
here is how pathetic wilt is....his teammate jerry west had 42 pts,13 rbs,12 assists in game 7 of the 69 nba finals....wilt STILL lost to russell and sam jones in their last nba game...not enough help for wilt?..LMAO
Thank you for vomiting redundant statistics. Win shares are advanced shit so try to keep up shaqpop. Jordan's career win share average is 14.26 games per season throughout his career - that's one man entirely responsible for over 14 games a season, it's sick. Shaq individually won 9.47 games per season, he is among the best of all time. Wilt must be a god because no NBA player comes close. He alone won 17.85 NBA games per season throughout his career. He is TWICE as dominate as Shaq.
@dantheman9758 Of course win shares is totally flawed when moving across era due to the fact, steals & blocks count for 0 on all players, regardless of how good or bad they were, until 1974.
Wilt career blocks are the same 0 as York Larese's 0 blocks
I saw Chamberlain block 7 shots in a row against the Bulls & of course Harvey Pollack and several referees from that day have estimated Wilt with triple double seasons if blocks had counted.
That winshare you talk about for Wilt is mighty low
@musikaNeues LOL I remember watching that game!!! Shaq is one of the greatest centers of all time, but damn did he get sloppy!!! I think Shaq developed too much of his game around strictly size+athleticism, once he lost athleticism his size made him so clumsy. Unlike Shaq Wilt's post-moves actually improved with age. I believe someone on another video once eloquently stated that Shaq's junk-hook was the ugliest shot in the history of the NBA. LOL
@dantheman9758 ....wilt doesnt even compare to shaq....the ugliest shot in the history of the nba may be wilts finger roll....why does wilt have a lower fg% AND ft% than shaq?....wilts footwork isnt even remotely close to shaqs...not even close...wilt was so pathetic he was settling for fadeaways in game 7 of the 1970 finals vs willis reed....the season on the line,and wilt was leaping away from a 6'9 man with a bad leg in a winner-take-all game for the title....wilt had no post moves
"planey shaq part 4"....notice the speed?...the quickness?...the agility?...the footwork?....and the actual defensive restistance,something you dont see in wilts weak highlights....
wilt= 44.8 ppg 24.3 rpg in 62-63....AND A 31-49 RECORD AND MISSED THE PLAYOFFS!!!...lmaoo..not to mention being 1-8 vs bill russell that year
yet played 47.6 mpg,making sure to statpad even though 49 times he got his ass kicked that year...scoring that amounted to NOTHING
@shaqpopcorn34 Listen pop, I'm an NBA fan, not a player fanboy, you've made your points, I don't care about your perspective on Wilt, and I certainly don't care about your opinions on Shaq I happen to love both. Please stop flooding my mailbox with your comments. At this point I'm just labeling them as spam bc that's what they are. If you don't feel like respecting Wilt that's fine, at least respect my privacy by leaving me off your radar and I'll do the same, because this is going nowhere fast.
@dantheman9758 ...thats your problem with me...others have "opinions" of wilt....i have mountains of facts that nobody has....now you see the light with wilt....i have done my job....i bring the facts
@shaqpopcorn34 - says...."i have mountains of facts that nobody has...." Do you realize how stupid and ignorant you are ? You bring bullshit. When Wilt played only 12 games due to a career threatening injury during the '69-'70 season you were not even aware that Wilt was injured. Ninety percent of real basketball fans thought it might not be advisable that Wilt play as he might end his career.
You read about Reed's injurey and missing 1 i/2 games and part of and think you know a secret !
@shaqpopcorn34 - You are an asshole basing your opinion of a player on his highlights. Highlights - Notice any shots farther than 5' from the bucket by fat Shaq !
Speed , agility - hell no I saw his whole career and he was just a fatback under the bucket !
@shaqpopcorn34 - I've seen more than 2 dozen ratings of the all time greatest centers by reputable writersI I have never seen Shaq higher than 4th. I've never seen Wilt lower than third. It has always been Wilt, Kareem and Russell order varies. Nothing has changed that since Kareem retired. With your limited perspective of NBA big men your rating of centers means nada. Your Only , you who never saw Wilt , put Shaq above Wilt. Live in your dream world based on 2 minutes of hightlights.
WILT= 48-32 playoff record in 5 yrs as a laker....his lowest scoring yrs
WILT= 40-40 playoff record in first 9 years,his highest scoring yrs....
wilt averaged 4.4 playoff wins per year before getting carried by jerry west in L.A....
"retrobreakdown:1970 nba finals game 7 - lakers at knicks - jerry west goes south"...check wilts fadeaway at 3:35....guarded by a 6'9 hobbled man in a winner-take-all game 7 and wilt settling for a FADEAWAY!!!...what dominance!!!...lmaoooooo
wilt= won 88 career playoff games....won 18 series
shaq=won 129 career playoff games....won 32 series
wilt= lost back to back game 7's vs bill russell in 68 and 69.....WILTS TEAM HAD HOMECOURT BOTH TIMES!!!...those were russells last 2 seasons,and he was player/coach!!!...no red auerbach!!!...
russell as a player AND coach kicked wilts ass IN PHILLY and IN LOS ANGELES in 68 and 69 to humiliate the overrated wilt....embarrassing...
@shaqpopcorn34 Your spitting on a person who has more accomplishments than you'll ever dream of getting, you need hardcore therapy man. Don't act like your educating me with facts I've never seen before... please... the only reason any fan of Wilt gets irritated by you is because you spew information that is one-sided, and you brush every massive achievement and unbreakable record he set under the rug. You mislead any young basketball fan about one of NBA's greatest players. Get a life dude.
@dantheman9758 ...yea...getting outscored by sam jones in 4 game 7's is quite an accomplishment....where was wilts 100?....lmaooo....
russell= 15 pts 29 rbs 9 assists in game 7 of the 1965 nba finals....the game where "havlicek steals it"....way to hold russell to complete domination...
wilt= swept by the 38-41 syracuse nationals in 1961....SWEPT BY A LOSING TEAM....wilt= a myth
@dantheman9758 ....BWAHAHAHHAA...calling shaq clumsy...clearly you have never seen shaq play in your life....shaq is the least clumsy player of alltime....not to mention he can breakdance and do the worm...check the footage...
"shaq crossover and dunk"...show me wilt moving like that...
"shaqs gangsta move on michael jordan"...wilt would be on his ass with that 1
"shaq does a crossover"
"shaq does an acrobatic layup vs nets"...and thats an old shaq...wilts footage is embarrassing
how in the hell can you lose with a teammate getting 42 pts 13 rbs 12 assists?....wilt got that from jerry west in game 7 of the 1969 nba finals,AND it was in L.A......when wilt left in the 4th with injury,lakers outscored the celtics the rest of the way!!!...they got back in the game,doing better without wilt!!!...how can you lose with a teammate having an epic triple double?...wilt= a true choker
wilt averaged 50.4 ppg in the 1962 reg.season....but couldnt even lead the 1962 playoffs in ppg when only the good teams were left and no cupcakes to stat-pad against....
elgin baylor led the 62 playoffs in ppg...
HILAROUS WILT FACTS....
wilt= scoring champ in 60,61,62,and 63
baylor= #1 in playoff ppg in 60,61,62,and 63....topping wilt in playoff ppg when only the best teams are playing...
wilt= 7 time reg.season scoring champ....1 time playoff scoring champ...vintage wilt....playoff choker
The game has changed throughout time and players get better and competition gets better, thats how shit goes. Wilt Chamberlain was a freak of nature athlete who no doubt would be a force to reckon with in today's NBA. He's a legend who's dead now and had a huge impact on the game so there's no reason to talk shit and belittle what he accomplished in his amazing career or else your not a true fan and just someone who likes to hate and look up stats to hate with.
@musikaNeues ..think about wilts career...he had seasons with more control than any player of alltime...he couldnt complain about fouls,he never fouled out....in 62 his coach NEVER took him out,he led the nba in minutes...he also has the record for field goal attempts..and STILL only 2 career titles,both of which he failed to even lead his own team in scoring...
in the 72 playoffs,wilt was outscored by JIM MCMILLAN!!!!...lmaoo
wilt at 14.7 ppg in 72 title run in playoffs....mcmillian 19.1 ppg
@shaqpopcorn34 Think about his teams & coaches. He had the exact same problem in the 60s that Jordan had in the 80s - by far the best player in the league but couldn't win a ring because his teams were no match for the Celtics.
As far as 72? He had long since stopped shooting. He won Rebounding title, led the Lakers to the professional sports record 33 wins in a row, Starter on the NBA All-Defensive Team, All-Star, Finals MVP.
Arguably the greatest individual season in NBA history - at age 36
@musikaNeues ...lmaoo..72 being "arguable the best individual season in nba history" by wilt....lmaoooo....all nba defender in 72?...and?...
kareem= 33.7 ppg in wilts eye in 72 playoffs...nice defense,wilt!!..lmaooo...dave cowens whipped wilts ass,thats a fact...wilt was a stat-padder...a known FACT he would check his stats at halftime and argue with statisticians if he disagreed....that is not an opinion byt an incontestable FACT...wilt player for numbers....shaq played for letters...as in W's
@shaqpopcorn34 Wilt had more blocks than anyone in history yet never fouled out. SKILL. Meanwhile, Shaq & the best team in the league can't make the Finals. Shaq with LeBron, smashed bad. Shaq with Penny.... swept over & over... Shaq with Kobe.... swept Swept SIX TIMES in fact, & 3 other series can only win ONE GAME. And you knock WC? Oh by the way? watch?v=kB43A-ODuLc .... watch it over & over. Ever see Shaq get anywhere CLOSE to that kind of elevation? no. you never did.
Unlike Shaq with his lack of form, when Wilt aged he turned into a defensive stalwart who was capable of putting up a 30-30 night when the team needed it. I'm talking into 72/73, when Tiny was breaking ankles, Connie was high flyin and Kareem was hitting skyhooks - It was a modern game. 70 percent of the linked footage is of Wilt when he's over the hill between 33-37 years old. 33-37 year old Shaq was talentless garbage in comparison. Shaqpopcorn is so wrong its hilarious /watch?v=rCWrGWuU2Ak
@dantheman9758 don't be forgetting Bob Lanier, Wes Unseld, Pistol, that ENTIRE Hall of Fame Knicks team.... the NBA modern era started with Wilt Chamberlain's 1967 Sixers STILL one of the best teams in history and continues to this day
@stere0brain ....wanna know even more hilarious facts about wilts 50.4 ppg season....
philly= 49-31 record that yr.....10-0 vs chicago,who went 18-62...the worst team...
that means they went 39-31 if you exclude the worst team in the league!!!..lmaoooo.
wilt averaged 50.4 ppg in 1962.....yet 22 pts in game 7 vs boston in 1962!!!....lmaooo..with the season on the line vs an actual good team,he couldnt even get HALF his average....vintage wilt....too bad he wasnt playing chicago in the playoffs
@stere0brain ....it was so damn easy to score in wilts era....
check the highest scoring seasons in nba history....in order...
1962...1961...1967...1970....1966...1960 and 1963(tied at 115.3 ppg)..1971...1969....wilt was in the nba in its 9 highest scoring years!!!....and dont say wilt was a reason for that,either...
1970= 4th highest scoring season of alltime....wilt played 12 games all season!!!
in wilts career,EVERY SINGLE TEAM averaged at least 100 pts EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!...WHAT A JOKE
get ready for a laugh....i just keep exposing wilts era....check this footage of the 1962 allstar game,the year wilt averaged 50.4 ppg...
"nba allstar game: retrobreakdown 1962 game with west,cousy,wilt and russ".....go to 2:50....see the guy shooting that PATHETIC and laughable set shot?...
thats richie guerin,who averaged 29.5 ppg in 1962!!!!!...LMAOOO..durant won the scoring title last year at 27.7 ppg!!!....u gonna tell me that loser richie guerin coulda been a modern scoring champ?LMAOOO
@dantheman9758 ...wilt= never even cracked 55% in scoring title seasons....
when he shot .727% he took 6.0 shots per game!!!...lmaooooo
wilt= shot .540% in his career...shot .511% fts
shaq= shot .582% in his career....shot .527% fts
let me guess....free throw defense was tougher in wilts era...LMAOOOOOO
shaq= over 55% 19 straight yrs...every single season....wilt= below 55% every single season he won the scoring title....and .506% to average 50?...lmaoooo....no wonder they went 49-31
Wilt Played in the era that did everything humanly possible to slow him and the center position down, Jordan played in the era that did everything possible to elevate the dominance of guards.
@dantheman9758 ....actually wilt played in an era where there was little defense,and it was easy to score....tons of shots were taken,meaning more ppg and rpg....PROOF...
1962 chicago packers= 110.9 ppg LAST IN THE NBA....18-62 record
1996 chicago bulls= 105.2 ppg....#1 IN THE NBA....72-10 record
lmaoo...am i supposed to believe the worst offensive team in 1962 is better than the 96 bulls?..
wilts team allowed 122.7 ppg in 1962!!!!....showing just how easy it was to score in that weak era
@shaqpopcorn34 All that is proof of is how sissy today's NBA is... I can confidently say you have never seen a "weak era" 1960's game otherwise you wouldn't be here. You can't describe the court side sound of cracking jaws and ribs on the hard defensive fouls allowed back then. Tic Tac Fouls are now called for breathing on a player, and they took away hand checks - players get called for everything and it slows the game to a crawl thus set plays can develop. Thus, an ILLUSION of "good defense".
"...Wilt lead the league in a fast-paced physical era where transition offense was the primary method for scoring points, the offensive game was more dynamic thus defensive plays involved less sets but more contact."
EVERYONE elses stats were ~identical to modern stats (except in the rebounds column) because running this type of game is PHYSICALLY TOUGH. The 3 point line changed rebound trajectories and sapped inside boards but it also padded the stats of guards.
Only one player in history managed to consistently endure 48 minutes of this hard physical play/constant running and he did it whilst routinely blowing up stat sheets with incomprehensible numbers and while carrying otherwise losing teams to 7 game series in either the playoffs or finals against the greatest sports dynasty of all time. Wilt Chamberlain is truly a contender for GOAT. Now GTFO with your whiny bullshit excuses. I've heard every Wilt excuse imaginable and they are all paltry.
100 point game and 50ppg and 23 rpg is nothing to say unimpressive about. you can argue he's not the best all you want but dont bash how great he was you fucking retards. respect an NBA legend who changed the game if ur any kind of basketball fan at all and appreciate what he did. RIP Wilt "The Big Dipper" Chamberlain
ok, this man averaged 50 points a game, has the record for most points and was consistant all the time, but somehow micheal jordan who averaged 30 points is the "BEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME" just cuz he had nice dunks and said good things!! I dont understand.
Jordan played alongside good players. They helped him perform better. Wilt was in a team whos other players combined, score less than him.
He scored 50 POINTS A GAME. THAT IS CRAZY.
No one did it better. Jordans jst popular cuz basketball only became popular in the last 30 years. Imagine watching a seaso, where 1 player, would AVERAGE 50 points a game. its simple as that.INDIVIDUALY, Wilt was a better performer.
wilt= 50.4 ppg on .506%...lmaoooo....he didnt get their by amazing efficiency...but by jacking up an insane 39.5 fgas per game....
the 62 sixers allowed 122.7 ppg...LAST IN THE NBA....no team in the modern era comes close to that,yet wilts team allowed that!!!...that shows how easy it was to score..
wilt= 50.4 ppg in 62....and a 49-31 record!!...am i supposed to be impressed?....he also played 48.5 mpg,staying in during blowout wins and losses
wilt= 50.4 ppg....on .506% shooting...lmaooo....JOHN STOCKTON has topped that many times...hakeem got there by jacking up an insane 39.5 shots per game,and only coming off the court 1 time all season due to ejection....
wilt= 50.4 ppg....and a 49-31 record....im not impressed....lost 153-102 on march 7th,1962 to celtics...5 days after scoring 100....of course wilt stayed in the entire time of the 51 pt blowout loss to stat-pad...vintage wilt
@shaqpopcorn34 if it's not impressive how come nobody else has been able to get within 12 points of it?
For some reason it's not impressive but nobody comes within 25% of Wilt Chamberlain towering over the rest of the league history. Like a Colossus over every other player in their feebleness.
Even feeble Shaq can't get within 20 points a game all he can do is plink rocks at the Collosus' knee
Somehow no troll has ever been able to answer that so keep on changing the subject
@stere0brain ..LMAOOO..dont even compare wilt to shaq
wilt= 23.6 points per 36 minutes
shaq= 24.6 points per 36 minutes
shaq scored more points per minute...shaq shot a higher fg%...shaq has taken 20+ fgas in TWO career seasons,both ending in scoring titles...while wilt jacked up 39.5 fgas per game in 62...
wilt= 22.5 ppg in 47.2 mpg in playoff career
shaq= 24.3 ppg in 37.5 mpg in playoff career
shaq has a higher career fg% AND ft% in both the reg.season AND the playoffs...and more rings
@shaqpopcorn34 Look at this desperation move... HANDICAPPING Wilts record breaking game endurance because his minutes per game are not fair! Here's a secret shaqpop... Nobody cares what the players do in just 36 minutes... people care what the players do in a GAME. If Shaq needs a 36 minute handicap to even compare to Wilt Chamberlain, than that's Shaq's problem. He's ultimately LESS productive than Wilt Chamberlain. Bench players can look like all stars per 36 minutes LOL. Just go home kid.
@shaqpopcorn34 Simple. Wilt best season 50.4 he won scoring title by 19 points over his nearest rival Shaq best season 29.7 he won scoring title by 1 point over his nearest rival Shaq - 2 scoring titles Wilt - 7 All 7 of Wilt's scoring title seasons were higher than Shaq's best single season Shaq rebounding titles = 0 Wilt rebounding titles = 11 Shaq assist title = 0 Wilt assist title = 1 Shaq MVP 1 Wilt MVP 4 including same season rookie of the year + MVP U Right. Dont even compare em
@stere0brain ...more concrete proof of just how easy it was to score in wilts era....i will use a 1973 team,which is the LOWEST ppg average for a season in which wilt played....
1973 sixers= 104.1 ppg.....and a 9-73 record!!!!...worst of alltime!!!!
1997 bulls= 103.1 ppg...nba champs!!
1998 bulls= 96.7 ppg....nba champs!!
2000 lakers= 100.8 ppg...nba champs!!
in 2001 the kings led the nba in scoring at 101.7 ppg.....yet defense was so weak in wilts era a 9-73 team could average 104.1..LMAO
@stere0brain ....wilt= 2 rings....shaq= 4 rings....dont ever forget that...and dont say he faced the celtics either......
wilt= ousted by the 1961 syracuse nationals....who were 38-41!!!...lmaooooo
wilt= 0-2 in nba finals series vs willis reed....reed missed the 72 finals when lakers won....
wilt= lost game 7 of the 1969 nba finals vs celtics despite west with 42 pts,13 rbs,12 assists....and dont mention wilts 4th quarter injury....lakers outscored the celtics after that!!
@stere0brain ..some perspective on wilts scoring..
wilt= 1562 missed shots in 61-62....most in nba history
shaq= 1594 shots ATTEMPTED in 94-95....won scoring title
shaq= 1665 shots ATTEMPTED in 99-00...won scoring title
shaq has 3 career seasons of even ATTEMPTING as many shots as wilt bricked in 61-62...
the other was 1594 shot attempts in 93-94,when david robinson stole the scoring title on the last day...wilt was below 55% in all 7 scoring title yrs...shaq has NEVER shot below 55%..EVER
@shaqpopcorn34 Shaq never shot .727. End of Discussion. For everyone else who is watching this buffoons posts, Wilt entered the league shooting fade aways turnaround jumpers and finger rolls he didn't start relying on dunking (like this boys Shaq) until he became a 76er and a Laker. In those seasons he dominated the shot percentage equal to or greater than not just Shaq, but any player in the history of basketball. Pull out more stats keep em coming troll.
@shaqpopcorn34 In game 5 of the 1972 finals Wilt plays on tender 36 year old knees with tapped hands and a broken wrist. As 3rd scoring option he scores a pitiful 24 points grabs just 29 boards dishes a ball-hogging 8 assists, and plays weak D blocking only 8 shots. I'm sorry dipshit but only the greatest can step up and perform like that. Your unimpressed with Wilt because he directly competes with your favorite enhanced ADD era players. You despise his stats. You secretly envy Chamberlain.
@dantheman9758 ...im embarrassed by wilts stats....referencing the 1972 nba finals?....you mean the series that willis reed played 0 minutes in?....the same reed that is 2-0 in playoff series vs wilt?...LMAOOOOO....
wilt= 50.4 ppg in 62....on .506%!!!!...lmaooo...shaq has NEVER shot lower than 55% in a season..ever...ever....ever....
wilt= 19.5 MISSED SHOTS per game that yr....nba record....came out of a game 1 time,due to ejection....stat-padding even in blowout wins and losses...vintage wilt
@stere0brain ...wilts rebounding is overrated...the man played in an era with 8 teams,TONS OF SHOTS,and also played complete games with no foul trouble...
1960= 108.7 shots per game...73.5 rpg was the nba average
1993= 86.0 shots per game....43.1 rpg was the nba average
lmaoooo.....30.4 more available rebounds per game in wilts rookie year than shaqs...
oscar= 12.5 rpg in 62.....ewing= NEVER averaged 12.5 rpg...u think oscar was a better rebounder than ewing?...lmaoooo....WEAK-ASS ERA
@keepinitoldschool91 did you read my full post? possibly you meant to post that to 42marisol who thinks a center has any chance at all of scoring like that.
I don't think 13 could get a triple in this era either - but not because today's players could stop him.<

Is it true that Wilt had a vertical of 50 inches? It doesn't seem right because I've never seen his head go above the rim. Also I've read that he could bench over 500 pounds, that doesn't seem accurate either because he isn't massively huge and his arms were very long which would make it even harder to bench.
KhMErTRiAd 1 month ago
@KhMErTRiAd
Wilt was a track and field star and did a high jump of 6 feet 6 inches in college. It might not be impossible. There's a lot of Wilt that was never recorded on film. We do know that around his athletic peak he could definitely get at least 40 inches without running.
bordertown 1 month ago
@bordertown Glad you brought this up. Wilt was an outstanding T&F guy, he ran the 880, could shot put nearly 60 ft and once rant the 100 yard dash in 10.5, which is amazing since he had to come out of the blocks. He may have been the greatest athlete ever...

Facts is Shaq win nothing against Superstars Center LOL

"shaq nearly dies!!!"...the footage doesnt lie....if you pause at the moment shaq falls to the ground,the rim is in his hand with glass coming down on his face.....FOOTAGE DOESNT LIE
shaqpopcorn34 3 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 - I have seen Wilt dunking and he just dunks and swiftly returns down court. Shaq doesn't have dunking power - he is just real sloppy looking, slow and hangs on the rim with ALL THAT WEIGHT ! The only power is the stress that is put on the basket. I am surprised the rim doesn't come down.
He probably could LOOK powerful but my high school football coach used to sat "SPEED IS POWER." Shaq has yo be one of the slowest men to ever play basketball !
Oscarnoche 3 months ago

Wilt NEVER said those kinds of things.

@shaqpopcorn34 although, of course, Shaq never was as powerful on the dunk as Wilt, and never dominated like Wilt.............. he did pretty good really.

@ZipperZappleZ ....i go by what i say...not by what others say....footage clearly shows wilt is a joke....many guys think he was the best without even having seen him play....wilt had WEAK dunks...lebron dunks with wayyyyyy more power....
wilt= played 4 game 7's vs celtics.....outscored by sam jones in all 4....lmaooo...what dominance..
wilt= 44.8 ppg in 62-63....his team went 21-49...what dominance....lmaoooo...
wilt= swept by the 38-41 syracuse nationals...swept by a LOSING TEAM...ouch

@ZipperZappleZ ..wilts team was 31*-49 in 63....not 21-49.....
in game 6 of 69 nba finals,all the lakers had to do and they would have the nba title and wilt would retire russell with a championship over him
in that game 6 with a chance to win it all,wilt scored a grand total of 2 POINTS..lmaoo..then lakers lose game 7 AT HOME...with SAM JONES outscoring wilt in his last career game
west 42 pts 13 rbs 12 assists..celts up 103-94 when wilt went out,went on a 12-5 run to end game without wilt

sam jones= 27.8 ppg and 4-0 in game 7's vs wilt
wilt can score 100 pts vs a bad team in a meaningless reg.season game,but cant outscore sam jones in any of the 4 game 7's vs celtics....
russell= 15 pts 29 rbs 9 assists vs wilt in game 7 in 65 vs wilt...celtics won 110-109...
wilt= a joke
shaqpopcorn34 3 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34

@bordertown check out inside hoops website, look up JLAUBER user comments.
shaqpopcorn34 is the exact mirror opposite of jlauber.
he does nothing but quote stats on players he never saw. jlauber loves wilt stats so he praises wilt, shaqpop hates wilt stats so he slams wilt.
they have the same mentality and should get married
musikaNeues 3 months ago
@bordertown Totally agree. To start Wilt's 76ers were not as good as Russell's C's. In 68 ECF vs BOS, PHI lost 2 starters and their 6th man. In 69 finals, Wilt was playing on a bad knee which he blew out in 70. In 70 Finals, when W Frazier dominated, J West was playing injured. In 71 playoffs, both Baylor and West were DNP. Unfortunately, Wilt gets all the blame. Put MJ on those 60's 76ers they get beat even worse than w/ Wilt.
BNS224 2 months ago

Wilt NEVER said those kinds of things.

I'm a Celtics fan. In Wilt's defense about the game Wilt lost when he had 55 rebounds it was against the Boston Celtics the defending champs with Bill Russell and multiple hall of famers. Wilt was a rookie and his Philly team had 1 other rookie 3 players in just their second year 2 players in just their third season the team Wilt was on SUCKED!!!

lakerfan2390 4 months ago
@lakerfan2390 your comment has 0 logic in it. as basketball fans and as humans, we have the right to compare. what has them being better than us got to do with the validity of a point?
and the comparison of stats from wilt's era is unfair. since the purpose of comparing stats is to determine who is the greater player, it would be advisable to ask yourselves, who would fair better in the contemporary NBA.

@musikaNeues - You got it all right this poopcorn guy makes a drag of himself. He has seen a few highlights and knows nothing.

Yeah. but you get more blocks when your arm can go to higher heights than any man who ever played the game. You get your ass kicked in thr '95 finals like Shaq -as he sat atationary underneath the bucket while Hakeem was all over the court putting in a variety of shots .
How about Shaq ? No variety of shots, he could only shoot from just 5 feet and closer to the bucket.
How do you get swept 6 X ? Ask Shaq !

Shaq chose to be lazy and enter the seasons of his prime as a fatass. It seemed to work for him so it's not a complaint, but as a result he NEVER had the wheels or quickness like Wilt, it's common sense. A lumbering hulk vs an NCAA big-8 track champion? @shaqpopcorn34 Shaq was fast when young, still not as fast as Wilt, but anyways. I CLEARLY specified Shaq's PRIME. The LA years he was fat as fuck, and criticized for it. He was LAZY in those off seasons and as a result he was NEVER faster than the guards of the league in his era much less small forwards. No center really should be that fast actually, but guess who was? Wilt and Drob. Wheres footage of Prime Shaq repeatidly PASSING UP opposing guards/forwards multiple times per game? Go find it.

They're in a class on their own.
dantheman9758 3 months ago
@dantheman9758 ...no,he was not fat...he was simply a giant...people see numbers in the 300's and assume a person is fat...haq came into the nba at 303 and was in incredible shape...u expect him to look like he did at 20?...wilt was a lot heavier late in his career than he was in philly...was he fat?..shaq had the most explosive energy in nba history....

Every video you constantly spam, is footage of Shaq breaking one or all of those 1960's rules, yet you insist to see Wilt do them or you'll remain unimpressed?.... lost cause....
dantheman9758 3 months ago
@dantheman9758 If you can't learn to keep ALL of those actively in your mind while watching Wilt AND while trying to "compare" him to your favorite players who don't have those restrictions, you will never be giving him a fair analysis. What am I even saying. It won't happen anyways, no matter what, your never going to be able to like him and do a mental 180 lol. For god knows what reasons, you've got a very strange hatred for a basketball player that even your favorite player appreciates.

shaqpopcorn34 3 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 You must have missed all the parts like Wilt passing and faking on a give and go like Magic Johnson in high school while playing as a point guard, and then in the NCAA dishing the ball behind his back accurately to a teammate in a full sprint as a defender closed in on his dribbling hand. Your BLIND. Never seen Shaq do that even given today's "extra" step gratuity. Also, you missed a block to the guard on defense, and than runs full court beating all the guards for a slam...smh
dantheman9758 3 months ago
@dantheman9758 I bet Shaq would lose the dribble on a full court sprint if someone even got NEAR his dribbling hand on defense, much less tried to take it. Wilt non-chalantly dishes behind the back to his teammate. Wilt played point guard for the Harlem Globetrotters, and your vehemently unimpressed by all of it sticking to the idea that Shaq while being totally unguarded on the dribble down court is more impressive. Yah... More likely you mistake his illegal-in-60's moves as skill.

wilt= 50.4 ppg in 62...1.28 points per shot attempt
shaq= 29.7 ppg in 00...1.41 points per shot attempt
lmaoo....
wilt= 1.38 points per shot attempt
shaq= 1.47 points per shot attempt in his career
here is how pathetic wilt is....his teammate jerry west had 42 pts,13 rbs,12 assists in game 7 of the 69 nba finals....wilt STILL lost to russell and sam jones in their last nba game...not enough help for wilt?..LMAO
shaqpopcorn34 4 months ago
Thank you for vomiting redundant statistics. Win shares are advanced shit so try to keep up shaqpop. Jordan's career win share average is 14.26 games per season throughout his career - that's one man entirely responsible for over 14 games a season, it's sick. Shaq individually won 9.47 games per season, he is among the best of all time. Wilt must be a god because no NBA player comes close. He alone won 17.85 NBA games per season throughout his career. He is TWICE as dominate as Shaq.
dantheman9758 4 months ago
@dantheman9758 Of course win shares is totally flawed when moving across era due to the fact, steals & blocks count for 0 on all players, regardless of how good or bad they were, until 1974.
Wilt career blocks are the same 0 as York Larese's 0 blocks
I saw Chamberlain block 7 shots in a row against the Bulls & of course Harvey Pollack and several referees from that day have estimated Wilt with triple double seasons if blocks had counted.
That winshare you talk about for Wilt is mighty low

watch?v=mkQJsmeWY04
musikaNeues 4 months ago
@musikaNeues LOL I remember watching that game!!! Shaq is one of the greatest centers of all time, but damn did he get sloppy!!! I think Shaq developed too much of his game around strictly size+athleticism, once he lost athleticism his size made him so clumsy. Unlike Shaq Wilt's post-moves actually improved with age. I believe someone on another video once eloquently stated that Shaq's junk-hook was the ugliest shot in the history of the NBA. LOL
dantheman9758 4 months ago
@dantheman9758 ....wilt doesnt even compare to shaq....the ugliest shot in the history of the nba may be wilts finger roll....why does wilt have a lower fg% AND ft% than shaq?....wilts footwork isnt even remotely close to shaqs...not even close...wilt was so pathetic he was settling for fadeaways in game 7 of the 1970 finals vs willis reed....the season on the line,and wilt was leaping away from a 6'9 man with a bad leg in a winner-take-all game for the title....wilt had no post moves

@dantheman9758 ...thats your problem with me...others have "opinions" of wilt....i have mountains of facts that nobody has....now you see the light with wilt....i have done my job....i bring the facts
shaqpopcorn34 4 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 - says...."i have mountains of facts that nobody has...." Do you realize how stupid and ignorant you are ? You bring bullshit. When Wilt played only 12 games due to a career threatening injury during the '69-'70 season you were not even aware that Wilt was injured. Ninety percent of real basketball fans thought it might not be advisable that Wilt play as he might end his career.
You read about Reed's injurey and missing 1 i/2 games and part of and think you know a secret !
42marisol1 4 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 - You are an asshole basing your opinion of a player on his highlights. Highlights - Notice any shots farther than 5' from the bucket by fat Shaq !
Speed , agility - hell no I saw his whole career and he was just a fatback under the bucket !
42marisol1 4 months ago
@shaqpopcorn34 - I've seen more than 2 dozen ratings of the all time greatest centers by reputable writersI I have never seen Shaq higher than 4th. I've never seen Wilt lower than third. It has always been Wilt, Kareem and Russell order varies. Nothing has changed that since Kareem retired. With your limited perspective of NBA big men your rating of centers means nada. Your Only , you who never saw Wilt , put Shaq above Wilt. Live in your dream world based on 2 minutes of hightlights.

33-37 year old Shaq was talentless garbage in comparison. shaqpopcorn34 4 months ago
Thus, an ILLUSION of "good defense".
dantheman9758 4 months ago
Here, I corrected your post:
"...Wilt lead the league in a fast-paced physical era where transition offense was the primary method for scoring points, the offensive game was more dynamic thus defensive plays involved less sets but more contact."
EVERYONE elses stats were ~identical to modern stats (except in the rebounds column) because running this type of game is PHYSICALLY TOUGH. The 3 point line changed rebound trajectories and sapped inside boards but it also padded the stats of guards.
dantheman9758 4 months ago
Only one player in history managed to consistently endure 48 minutes of this hard physical play/constant running and he did it whilst routinely blowing up stat sheets with incomprehensible numbers and while carrying otherwise losing teams to 7 game series in either the playoffs or finals against the greatest sports dynasty of all time. Wilt Chamberlain is truly a contender for GOAT. Now GTFO with your whiny bullshit excuses. I've heard every Wilt excuse imaginable and they are all paltry.

@keepinitoldschool91 no insult at all but if you're not sure how being fast is important in basketball you might want to study the game some more.
This guy was getting defensive rebounds, throwing the outlet pass, and then leading the fast break for the layup.
When Shaq was leading a fast break (2 or 3 times a season, not a half) he was hovering around the free throw line not rebounding.
In his early years, Chamberlain rebounded like Barkley or Rodman. Not like Shaq.
