I'm going to break the rules, an American Battle Royal would be fine, however, it'd have to be seemingly original and it could never call itself Battle Royal. Nah it can't be that, the only similarity between Battle Royale and Hunger Games is the concept, hell, in hunger games they're all teenagers with different ages that don't even know each other. Just what the world (particularly the US) needs: a sadistic film about young people slaughtering each other. Yes, really "kool". I can only hope that it is a flop. Alas, that's unlikely given the number of morons whose appetite for sadism and slaughter is insatiable.
I'd only be interested in a remake if it was a high budget TV series. No film can capture the novel because it's too short a time frame to make you care about the characters. Great trailer. Seemed almost plausible! I ADORE the way the real Battle Royale music kicks in right near the end - that makes me shiver.
As for the real remake: consider it canned.
It's been on IMDb since the New Line/Roy Lee announcement in 2006 (originally IMDb had it DUE for 2008). All that's happened since, is IMDb keeps rolling the year back.
The last real news (in 2007) was that New Line couldn't secure the rights, and were having 2nd thoughts anyway after V-Tech. Since then... nothing.
im not going to lie...i totally thought this was a real trailer. You did so well with the effects (i just loved the roster effect :3) and the overlapping music and sound effects make it seem all the more authentic. I was writing a version of battle royale starring people i know and i made a trailer...but the trailer sucks and definitely is not up to par with this trailer at all.
You know, I'm interested in the American version. The Japanese was great, and I think the American's could do well, if they don't bone it with cheesy horror effects or too much blowing up. Also, car chase at the end. That's in it, I'm happy.

I almost forgot to mention, this was a DAMN good trailer -- especially considering the limited choice of video clips. Your editing is flawless and just further intensified my excitement for an American Remake. Not a bad cast either -- I loved Sara Paxton in Last House On The Left, so I think she'd be great in a film like this. Also, I didn't even think of Joseph Gordan Levit. I LOVE him! I hope to god though that Kristin Stewart does not get within a square mile of this film.
I heard that a remake may be in the works, and I am actually all for it providing they stay true to the novel/original movie as much as possible. This is a brilliant series that deserves far more recognition outside of Japan. Obviously they will have to Americanize the names, but I could live with that as long as they didn't change the personalities of the characters or the story. Basically, the remake could either be a masterpiece or absolute garbage, but I'm excited to find out.

If there is a god the remake will never see the light of day. New Line already fucked up the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th remakes by handing it over to assholes. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave battle royale to michael bay to fuck up as well.

Go to wiki and look up battle roale in the end of the wiki it says in i think 2006 new line was trying to make a remake of the movie which is awsome. but everyone has to flip out and make a big deal about things like vigrina tech. I'd only be interested in a remake if it was a high budget TV series. No film can capture the novel because it's too short a time frame to make you care about the characters. Don't get me wrong I love the film but the novel is 1000 times better and is why Mitsuko Souma is my favourite character of all time =]

people would destroy the set of where BR remake would be filmed before they can make a scene.

Great trailer. Seemed almost plausible! I ADORE the way the real Battle Royale music kicks in right near the end - that makes me shiver.
As for the real remake: consider it canned.
It's been on IMDb since the New Line/Roy Lee announcement in 2006 (originally IMDb had it DUE for 2008). All that's happened since, is IMDb keeps rolling the year back.
The last real news (in 2007) was that New Line couldn't secure the rights, and were having 2nd thoughts anyway after V-Tech. Since then... nothing.

im not going to lie...i totally thought this was a real trailer. You did so well with the effects (i just loved the roster effect :3) and the overlapping music and sound effects make it seem all the more authentic. I was writing a version of battle royale starring people i know and i made a trailer...but the trailer sucks and definitely is not up to par with this trailer at all.

You know, I'm interested in the American version. The Japanese was great, and I think the American's could do well, if they don't bone it with cheesy horror effects or too much blowing up. Also, car chase at the end. That's in it, I'm happy.

I almost forgot to mention, this was a DAMN good trailer -- especially considering the limited choice of video clips. Your editing is flawless and just further intensified my excitement for an American Remake. Not a bad cast either -- I loved Sara Paxton in Last House On The Left, so I think she'd be great in a film like this. Also, I didn't even think of Joseph Gordan Levit. I LOVE him! I hope to god though that Kristin Stewart does not get within a square mile of this film.

I heard that a remake may be in the works, and I am actually all for it providing they stay true to the novel/original movie as much as possible. This is a brilliant series that deserves far more recognition outside of Japan. Obviously they will have to Americanize the names, but I could live with that as long as they didn't change the personalities of the characters or the story. Basically, the remake could either be a masterpiece or absolute garbage, but I'm excited to find out.

That's dead. There was *talk* of a remake about three years ago, with Roy Lee/New Line. Nothing since. Seems the Japanese side wanted more money - and the American side got twitchy after V-Tech.
To quote Steve Coogan: about 30% of the talk in Hollywood actually becomes something.

great trailer dude. i just watched the original BR after not seeing it for a while, so good. and i'm with you on doing a remake...loved the original but i feel like in the right hands and not toned down at all a remake would be great. i'd be able to connect more with the kids if they were speaking english ya know? throw in a plot that has american run down and fearing it's youth(not far from the truth) a remake would be tight. had to be R or even nc-17.
