Original vest is a South African designed M83. Knockoffs come in different camouflage patterns, including German flecktarn, which may have led to the confusion.

I just got a Chest rig like the 2nd one in this video.

It holds my 30 round AK mags and will fit 2 per mag pouch for a total of 6 mags.

Also it has room for my cleaning supplies and sighting tool, a compass, batteries for my red dot, a pocket constitution, first aid kit, food ECT....

That is a good tip about the canteen. My rig has space for a canteen like the one in the vid.

I like the idea behind these videos, however, it is an absolutely useless video to a lot of us when it is in front of us, esp. if it is in cammo and just looks like a piled up cammo net on a table. Put is on a person or dummy!

As far as weapons go, to me, it makes more sense to purchase popular weapons here in the U.S. so that if the crap does hit the fan you will not have a problem with resupplying. But with vests and chest pouches and such I don't see the problem with purchasing product from other nations.

Clearveiw Investments vest/ UTG same co. all chinese import, are very adjustable, well made and very well aranged. They come in blk,OD, MARPAT, ACU, and Desert. They have a holster and mag pouches and the holster velcroes on and can be removed, the vest comes with an xtra mag pouch to replace the holster. I has alice straps all over it, It has a place for a water bladder. It cost around $70 and has lots of extras and advantages.

I know it's important to carry water with you, but I think it's also very important to carry a portable water filtration unit. I am buying a Berkey sport filtration bottle because it's small and I know the filters will take almost ANY water source and turn it into pure drinking water. I'm not advertising, I'm just bringing another quality survival option to the table because as Mark said - water is life out in the field.

Bottom line is that have frag protection at all times, but then mobility is most important. Lugging around ceramic plates, dragonskin or not, is inappropriate for most civilians unless you are in a last ditch defense to buy you time.

The conventional forces are only best at fighting a pinned down, stationary target. If you are stationary and they know exactly where you are, you are going to die, body armor or not.

Airsoft vests are very good. They are 1:1 scale so don't worry about mags not fitting. They're cheap too. You can cofigure your vest and put on a bladder in the back.

Prioritize. You will need more ammunition as prices will continue to climb. Gun shows usually offer the best price for ammo. BDU's can be bought cheap at gun shows as well. For load gear, start with LBE and ALICE pack as they are cheaper than the new MOLLE gear. You can try EBay for those items. Obviously, you will need a job for any of these needs. You may be able to borrow until you get them. Oh, and don't say "only...SKS," it is a force to be reckoned with in the hands of a warrior.
