If I remember correctly, she was tailgating an 18 wheeler, tractor-trailer. It stopped suddenly and she didn't; and was decapitated. Mariska was very young when her mother was killed. Don't tail gate.

The tractor-trailor made a sudden stop because of a truck spraying mosquito fog, and lost control, causing the driver of Jane's car to smash into (and under) the trailer.

Jane WAS NOT decapitated. That's a pervasive urban myth, created by a photo of the crash in which you can see her wig dangling from the wreckage. The death certificate attributed death to a "crushed skull with avulsion of cranium and brain."

Hey was this European trip perhaps where one of my favorite photos of all time was snapped? Been a while but the one with Sophia Loren staring at mansfields busom with daggers in her eyes. At a nightclub table with jayne beeming a greeting to someone behind and to the left of the photographer. I have my busoms straight? That picture is brilliant!
