People see ballistic gel tests with the 5.56 & 5.45 & think that's how the round will work every time. That couldn't be farther from the truth of what really happens in the real world. BG test are almost always shot into the very flat face of the gel and the shot is almost always on a str8 angle to the BG. In the real world your target will almost never be on a str8 angle & the target is not made of BG, which is soft. This will almost always effect the way the round frags or yaws if at all.
great video! grip and stock i replaced both there is nothing wrong with the rifle just about every gun expert/ firearms instructor will back it. the gun was designed for harsh conditions and minimal training to perfect. hell 6yr old militia kids run them/ main things to go wrong with ak is bad ammo/or out of ammo... that platform eats ammo, most other firearms get ammo picky..
7.62x39 has about the same power as a 30-30 which has taken more deer in north america than any other round. i wouldnt say its weak if its comapable to that.

Being AK's are assault rifles, and where I was comparing it too some BR's and standard high powered "hunting" rifles. I've only have had the chance to use an AK47 twice during 2 separate automatic gun shoot at a local range. The AK isn't for me, it's for someone though, it does have its place. Also I just love to hate the AK. :)

@UrbanTiger74 People often under estamate the 7.62x39 round. I can tell you 100% for sure that the 7.62 is a far better killer out to 350 yards. I've seen deer shot with both rounds & the 7.62 will and does more damage through out the body cavity than the 5.56 does. The 5.56 & 5.45 are 1 trick rounds, if the bullets don't frag or yaw it's far less effective in terms of killing power. The 7.62 will almost always make 2 .30cal holes in the target which is always better than 2 .22cal holes. cont>>>

Lol, Wow! The "gun haters" have really gotten to you! I don't understand why we have these people that can't respect firearms that have been proven through-out history and war. The AK is unmatched in it's "class" of firearms. It is may chose as well, and I don't care what the haters have to say.
I think part of it is training Spetsnaz can kick some seriouse butt with both the 47 and 74. Also as far as the ergos it was built for conscript troops of the former Soviet republics who are shorter not fed as well as Americans. Also it is a 65 year old design. People will spend $1,000 on any other type rife and spend $400 on a AK no kidding your other rifle out performs The AK. There are tons of accessories to fix anything you may not like about your AK platform rifle also.

UT, No disrespect to you or anyone else here on Youtube but here is my 2 cents. I have both platforms. I have the AK Hungarian AMD 65 and I have 2 AR's. I also have an M1 Garand as well as the M1A. The AK was never meant to be accurate. The AK was meant to be a short range Battle Rifle and that's what it is. Most battles are fought within 100 yards or closer. If I want to pop someone at 500yds I'll get the fucking M1A :) Just my 2 cents. AK= Not a POS!!

I'm with you 100%. People seem to always want to compair supped up AR15s to stock AK47s. I owned an AR15 first, but after 3 explosions, I went to the AK47. As for "cheek weld", I have an east German side folding wire stock, I'm 6'5" and have no problem getting a good weld. It's all in how you stand. Most people don't stand right. I think most people just have an unconsience hate for the AK47 cuz it's Russian. And cuz we weren't smart enough to use it along with the rest of the world.

All good points, all true and very well said! I have both and more often than not, I reach for my AK more than my AR. In my opinion, there is only one issue with the AK that puts it in a class below most of the other defensive rifles in America. The American tactical nylon community does not make suitable gear for the AK for a reasonable price! Considering the East Bloc surplus alternative price point, which is ACTUALLY made for AK's because they USE AK's, you can't beat it!

Good vid. I love the ak right now I've just got one. But one thing I have noticed and its really got nothing to do with the platform itself is the ar builders seem to have better qc than the ak. When I first started looking at the ak at gunshows and different gun shops and looking at ar I noticed pretty much every builder of the ak has rifles out with canted sight post, arsenal included. I have yet to see a ar with that issue. Even with the lower cost units. I still love th ak though.
I love the AK platform. You have to take it for what it is, a rugged,reliable everyman assault--sporting weapon. For me the AR-15 - M-16 is more ergonomic and feels better to me overall. I like the sights better etc... The accessories for the AK have really had more options as a the last couple years. You can easily change out anything on an AK to make it a modern battle rifle now, at a reasonable price. The AK will be around for Many, many years to come no doubt.

Ak was ment for cold weather, shorter stock, small grip to be used with gloves, selector in perfect spot if you got all your cold weater gear on. Oh!!! it works in hot weater also. By the way selstor noise in the wood make noise so do it slow guys... love your vids keep it up.

I'm with you 100%. People seem to always want to compair supped up AR15s to stock AK47s. I owned an AR15 first, but after 3 explosions, I went to the AK47. As for "cheek weld", I have an east German side folding wire stock, I'm 6'5" and have no problem getting a good weld. It's all in how you stand. Most people don't stand right. I think most people just have an unconsience hate for the AK47 cuz it's Russian. And cuz we weren't smart enough to use it along with the rest of the world.

All good points, all true and very well said! I have both and more often than not, I reach for my AK more than my AR. In my opinion, there is only one issue with the AK that puts it in a class below most of the other defensive rifles in America. The American tactical nylon community does not make suitable gear for the AK for a reasonable price! Considering the East Bloc surplus alternative price point, which is ACTUALLY made for AK's because they USE AK's, you can't beat it!

Good vid. I love the ak right now I've just got one. But one thing I have noticed and its really got nothing to do with the platform itself is the ar builders seem to have better qc than the ak. When I first started looking at the ak at gunshows and different gun shops and looking at ar I noticed pretty much every builder of the ak has rifles out with canted sight post, arsenal included. I have yet to see a ar with that issue. Even with the lower cost units. I still love th ak though.

I love the AK platform. You have to take it for what it is, a rugged,reliable everyman assault--sporting weapon. For me the AR-15 - M-16 is more ergonomic and feels better to me overall. I like the sights better etc... The accessories for the AK have really had more options as a the last couple years. You can easily change out anything on an AK to make it a modern battle rifle now, at a reasonable price. The AK will be around for Many, many years to come no doubt.

I'm more of a AR person but I grew up on the AK so i love both platforms, but to be honest AKs seem to be getting built more poorly by the year, when I was a kid and my teen years i lived around a lot of AKs and they were dam reliable. Now I see AKs get hiccups here & there. (various makes) not just wasr's lol
