Why was there no 1986-87 season?
The show actually skips from 1985-86 to 1987-88.

Because in late 1986, NBC cancelled the series, and there was a transition period between filming new episodes, and moving into syndication, which took until late 1987.

Episode 11 was filmed (or aired?) on my Dad's 22nd birthday. And Episode #14 was the first episode filmed (or aired) after I was born! I was just 20 days old that day. =)
