@fabianstraregy In a mixed family I had to think when I opened my mouth to answer questions by the kids. We've gone so far in the last 50 years but with Obama's prejudice we're backing up. Anyone who has had police officers as close friends or family members KNOW these people enjoy the authority they wield over others. It's a personality type that this job attracts, and the training makes it worse. They come home with stories of busting a guys knee or dislocating someone's arm, or impounding someone's car in some remote spot laughing about the 7 mile walk to get a ride home. Mob mentality can happen to any group, and cops can abuse their authority and citizens rights. There is no justification for beating a suspect - esp. about the head- when tasers are an option. The investigation must find the officers use of excessive force and take their badges. I am glad the FBI is handling this, so there is a better chance for justice for all.

Excessive force is pretty easy to understand. Whether he was homeless, mentally ill, even some sort of criminal. once he's on the ground calling for help they probably could have cuffed him. But I think even in cities with civilian boards they can only fire someone, mess with their benefits but they can't actually prosecute anyone. Only prosecutors such as DA, state AG, feds AG can actually bring someone up criminally... and in Fullerton, as in other places, the DA never goes after the police since they feel like the same team. Anyone who has had police officers as close friends or family members KNOW these people enjoy the authority they wield over others. It's a personality type that this job attracts, and the training makes it worse. They come home with stories of busting a guys knee or dislocating someone's arm, or impounding someone's car in some remote spot laughing about the 7 mile walk to get a ride home. Watching a death occur at your hands is like seeing a grand-slam homer in the ninth inning for these guys.

My father is an officer (10 years) and comes home not mentioning a single fact about the types of people he deals with. Maybe the most we get out of him was that he's tired of writing traffic tickets all day, or that he made one arrest on the day. Not a lick more.
Being an officer to 90% of the officers I know (and I know a LOT) is not a job with perks or benefits. It's a duty and a service.

Resisting is not uncommon, they are trained to deal with these things. They have absolutely no right, this is why they have tasers if they need to subdue somebody. They were out to kick some but. This guy has been homeless in this area for how long? You know the cops must have known him. "No record of being violent in the past" He was probably harrased by them before so he ran. Ever since tasers, I see no reason to badly injure a suspect. Tase him, then cuff him before he recovers, job done, little harm to suspect, let the courts decide the rest. Even prior to tasers, once you were able to cuff the guy, there should have been to further assault on him.

The investigation must find the officers use of excessive force and take their badges. I am glad the FBI is handling this, so there is a better chance for justice for all.

I worked 25 years for a probation dept. and only once did we have to use 3 people to subdue a person refusing arrest and most were larger than Kelly.I have been kicked, hit, bloodied and bitten but, never did I fail to subdue the individual or have to resort to using my fist or feet to hit them. As usual the police department will conduct a "thorough, comprehensive and unbiased investigation" (the ultimate of all oxymoron's) and of course all these cops will be found innocent of any wrong doing. In fact the police department will probably demand an apology from the media and you.
When these cops return to work they will be rewarded with high-fives, overtime pay and promotions.

I heard Thomas landed a haymaker first, also. That gets little or no mention in the news. No, I don't think one haymaker justifies the end result here. Here's the thing though, like it or not: expect to catch a beat down and or go to jail for a long time if you fight with a cop. End of story. So choose your actions wisely. @ddsmdc true or not there was no reason for the one cop i saw to punch the guy in the head/face area.......i watch the cops show and will be a cop soon and never did i see a cop on that show have to throw a punch like that....they always ended up tackleing the guy/girl kneeling on the head and tryin to get the hands behind the persons back...as far as the taze thing is concernd i can understand being tazed so many times.....lose clothing probly didnt let the taze stick to the skin

This is why we need CITIZENS REVIEW BOARDS to investigate all questionable law enforcement conduct (all branches of law enforcement). You can't have police trying to police themselves. It doesn't work. Would you trust Enron to investigate it's own accounting practices? If they knew a real impartial board would investigate, with the power to prosecute, things would change fast!

But I think even in cities with civilian boards they can only fire someone, mess with their benefits but they can't actually prosecute anyone. Only prosecutors such as DA, state AG, feds AG can actually bring someone up criminally... and in Fullerton, as in other places, the DA never goes after the police since they feel like the same team. I trust the FBI more than the local DA

@snippy2 I'm pretty sure you are correct. Just firing some of the worst offenders would be a big step in the right direction though. Psychopaths like this make the entire department look like the Klan. You're also right that the DA never wants to do anything. In my opinion, that is the real reason LA burned in 1992. Too many citizens were sick of all the abuse and cover up, and it just exploded. What happened in Fullerton was heinous and the cover up is blantant and obvious.

The Police said 'the fight ended' .
The beating and tasing death ended when Kelly was motionless/unconsious/beaten beyond recognition.
One cop alone should have been able to subdue him without help and without tasing and beating him to death.
3 officers beat him to death as he lay screeming for his life.
